    dont put the filter on as far as you can, you can restrict air flow doing that you slide it on just far enough so that the hose clamp falls on the pipe side of the raised section.

      You don't have to. Now, the car might run a little bit leaner and wont get the same gas mileage that it got before but it's not necessary.

    • @bossadamsgarage
      @bossadamsgarage  Рік тому

      Pros - you get a nice woosh sound when you rev your car and you might gain 5 hp (15 hp per the box, but I assume that is with a proper tune).
      Cons - the car will technically run a little leaner, however, if you have an aftermarket exhaust, the computer will (should) balance everything all out.

      @@johnnyj31b I'm not sure if the engine is carb legal but you should be fine man I live there in California recently and as long as you're not throwing a check engine light you'll be fine which I don't believe you will because it's got the plug for the mass airflow sensor my uncle just purchased the same car and his doesn't throw any check engine lights because it's got the plug for the sensors also I'm not sure if they make one for this particular model but I know that a e m has always had a carb legal stamp right on the side of the intake tube for all cars so maybe check out that brand but honestly you'd be fine with any of them as long as they're specific for your model so they have all the right plugs on them for your sensor or sensors

    So I have the 2020 Corolla HB and....I have questions about tuning a Toyota. For this to be really effective, doesn’t it need to be paired with a tune? Is the exhaust that is on the car a full exhaust or a post cat? So I’ve heard some horror stories about driving the manuals (which I have) hard will cause some serious issues with the transmissions. Even if there was extra power, would this cause like massive issues with the transmission?

    • @bossadamsgarage
      @bossadamsgarage  4 роки тому

      You’re right. For this to work as intended we do need to get the car tuned. Right now we are waiting to get a quote back on a local shop that can tune the car. The exhaust on this car is a cat back to make it manufacturer safe. We have not experienced any issues with the transmission on this car so far

    • @littlepip0025
      @littlepip0025 2 роки тому +1

      Its not worth trying a tune, what I've seen and experienced, AMT is the only tune out there and it doesn't raise WHP at all, just install the parts you want and drive the car until the ECU adapts to the more air/exhaust flow

    Question, would the process be the same for a 2019 Toyota Corolla SE?

    • @bossadamsgarage
      @bossadamsgarage  3 роки тому +1

      I believe the process is pretty much the same, however, the engine in our Corolla is a 2.0 and the 2019’s only came with a 1.8 so you’d have to get the model to fit the 1.8.

      @scrublord95 Рік тому

      it's sort of both it is a short intake but it's also moved to a relatively cooler area of the engine bay + plus the heat shield is probably why everywhere lists these as cold air intakes because they are technically in taking colder air, but I'm not an engineer so it could also just be marketing

    Multiple studies show that the engineers at Toyota/Ford/Chevy/Honda know more than the guys making the aftermarket intake. If there was a way short of a turbo to make more HP it would just shorten the life of the CVT transmission. Just a waste of money for such a tiny intake.
