Temuera's VO is better than I remember, but Wingreen sounds downright vicious.
The thing is, he did this VO at like 4 AM. George called him in the middle of the night and told him to say it over the phone and he genuinely did not care because he wanted to go back to sleep.
@@thelad5 interesting! Source?
There's two schools of thought; the fans of the original Boba that wanted his identity to forever remain a mystery, and the fans that wanted to know his backstory, which ended up being a clone of the greatest Bounty Hunter in the galaxy.
The original fans tend to prefer Wingreen's voice, who is cold and soulless, almost inhuman. The other side prefer Temuera's, which has more humanity behind it while still being intimidating.
I really think Temuera nailed in Mandalorian, in that he did a perfect blend of Jango's AOTC voice and Wingreen's delivery.
@@nahor88 I thought the same thing when he started talking to Din. I dislike the voice change, simply because he wouldn’t necessarily have the same accent as Jango. But I understand why it was done, and Boba is still my all time favorite SW character regardless

Fair points, but the "lo-res" of the 1980 might be out audio dub from an old 90s laserdisc at a low bitrate (which we digitized back when BFFC began around that time), rather than 100% accuracy there of the best quality available. :-)
I love both coz the truth is its the same character
Greens version sounds more sinister,
Lucas fucked up, instead of adapting the prequels to the original trilogy he adapted the ot to the prequels, big mistake
It could have been perfectly acceptable for Boba to not sound like his father by the time ESB occurs. Reason one: Accents are not hereditary. Boba's accent doesn't HAVE to be what it was when he was a child, and doesn't have to match his father's. As he got older, not being around his father or the clones could have allowed for his accent to change. He didn't grow up in a consistent culture, so he likely would have adopted from different accents he grew up around. Reason two: having lived the harsh life of a bounty hunter he could have developed a rasp in his voice, be it from illness or a habit, such as smoking death sticks or excessive singing in the shower. Bottom line: the voice did not need to be changed.
Edit: and if you're going to reply to this with "because he's a clone," then if you would just read the rest of the comments you would see other people have already said that and it does not change my points.
"What if he doesn't survive"
Temuera: a genuine questioning tone, like he's worried and just literally asking what's going to happen.
Jason: sounds more like a threat, a statement rather than a question implying he wants paid whether han survives or not.

I think that Wingreen’s voice was a major factor as to why a character with such little screentime/lines like Boba is so iconic and well known by fans.
Definitely.
For sure he was the only one who stood up to Vader
This is really true, I’d never heard this before and honestly I prefer it.
I don't think so, honestly. It's more the cool armor and all the detail put into his visuals. He's not just a random, generic character wearing a uniform or generic clothes, but a guy with battle scarred, distinct armor and weaponry. You look at a generic character and think nothing more, but you see Fett with armor that nobody else has, covered in dents, scars, a jetpack, etc, and you can't help but wonder more about him. He looks like he has just as many stories as the story you're watching on screen; it's like playing an MMO game, seeing NPC characters all day and then stumbling upon another player character wearing a distinct set of gear.
That was actually a big part of the charm of the original Star Wars; it wasn't a sanitized, super clean futuristic sci-fi, where everything is white, clean and sleek, like most popular science fiction of the time, but looked like a universe that was "lived in." I believe the trope is called a "used future," where the background looks like stuff people actually use, which gets dirty from this use; dirty starships, dirty robots who aren't squeaky clean, etc, as opposed to earlier stuff like Star Trek, where everyone had neatly pressed suits, the ship was immaculate clean, and the equipment looked like it'd never been touched. Even in the opening scroll, this isn't the future like every other space science fiction, as they specifically states that this already happened who knows how long ago, in a galaxy far away, the story is already over from our perspective.
They just did the setting so well, and Boba Fett is an extension of that; the universe feels alive with characters who have their own stories.
@@TheGr8one1022 your words made me feel better for some reason. Thanks.

Why what's do great about Morrison?
@@arynasabalenka3173 Good actor and good voice?
I just noticed something for the first time. While Boba says "He's worth a lot to me." He's pointing at himself. A gesture that could be seen as intimidating. He's establishing how much of a big shot he is. And Vader not only is letting that pass he reassures Fett, that he will be compensated if anything goes wrong.
People complain how much of a non-character Fett was and wonder how people are drawn to him. We had everything we needed to know about him. He was a bounty hunter who got what he wanted in Empire and even Vader treated him with respect.
That, and his design. The perfect blend of Knight and Space-Cowboy.
I think people forget this but before ROTJ force users weren't that op and even in post prequel legends media, Boba has almost killed Vader multiple times.
If you take out the context of other media where Vader can pull down starships, you can sense a very slight uneasiness that Vader has around Fett
Temuera Morrison was not a popular replacement but I think he made the voice role his own, especially with Republic Commando (albeit not playing Fett). That said, there is just something really vicious about Jason Wingreen's voice, every line comes from gritted teeth and the slight distortion in the voice lends a creepy, inhuman twist. The more I listen to both the more I feel like that there's no beating the original.
He voiced him in bounty hunter and the clones in OG battlefront 2 as well as the republic commando which are all really dope games imo
The way I see it is that Morrison makes him sound tough and badass but Wingreen makes him sound dark and mysterious.
I'd also say that I prefer Jason Wingreen's voice over Temuera Morrison's.
Wingreens version much better, even before the new series shows that Boba was more likely worrying about Han's feelings that the monetary impact of him not surviving.

Apparently it’s pronounced day-fo. Said it himself
I'm something of a Boba Fett myself!
YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I'VE SACRIFICED ?!
"As you wish"
Morrison: Respecting his command, as he will do whatever it takes to successfully capture the Millennium Falcon, while still securing the money he was promised.
Wingreen: Sarcastic, as if saying "yeah, whatever", as if he feels Vader is disrespecting his tactics, in response, mocking his power
"He's no good to me dead"
Morrison: Saying this as a subtle request to Vader to remind him to keep Solo alive.
Wingreen: Beginning to get angry at the thought of potentially losing his money, due to the potential death of Solo.
"What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me"
Morrison: Once again, giving a message to Vader to take procassionary measures to keep Solo alive, as he is beginning to worry that his money would be thrown away if Solo was killed.
Wingreen: Stating as an enraged, concerned question, saying that he is angrily desperate to get his expected money.
"Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold"
Morrison: Giving a simple, tame, and quick command, as he knows the soldiers will immediately recognize his authority, and do the job
Wingreen: Emphasizing how serious he is, he states this command aggressively, making sure the soldiers will do what their told
So overall, Morrison portrays Boba as a professional, and calm bounty hunter that knows to always play it safe, while Wingreen does the opposite, portraying Boba as a savage, sinister, and ruthless assassin that bows down to no one, and laughs in the face of danger

And that's WITHOUT considering Boba being a clone, perfect or otherwise, of Jango, and so would sound (and as we'll see come Mandalorian S2, look) like his father and template.

Could always just say Boba has a voice-changer in his helmet. Would preserve the original voice-work and add another dimension to his character; in a galaxy full of Fett clones, he chooses to alter his voice, perhaps to disguise his heritage or just to feel like his own man.
