Oh man, this looks brilliant! I'd love to see someone transform a few Castlevania enemies for this. I may actually give this a shot with Hexen, or Heretic, and see if it works. Hexen does have that hub-worlds and key item puzzles thing going for it.
I dunno... if they make the weapons weaker or the enemies stronger, then it'll kinda stop being Castlevania (Classicvania, specifically) surplanted into Doom. Castlevania works on the principle that enemies die in one or two hits, and it makes sense for the same to happen when he's plucked wholesale from his roots into a Doom environment. It would stop feeling like Castlevania otherwise, and this mod is trying to make it feel like it. Now, where Classicvania gets it brutal challenge from is the placement of enemies, rather than just beating them. It's not, "Can you kill the guy?" it's "How do you kill the guy? How can you get to him?" Maybe rather than try to raise or lower numbers, there can be specific levels made with really tough enemy placements... which you kinda suggest doing in the video already, so... Bye.

The bouncing diamonds aren't actually anything new. That item just wasn't present in the old Castlevania games. I believe they added it in for Castlevania SOTN.
Do you want a true power trip? I put in the Heretic weapons into doom and I felt truly empowered. One point blank shot from an un-tombed crossbow puts all lower class enemies instantly into their Xdeath state. The tombed up weapons would be total chaos.
Easiest way to fix this would be take out health and armor and give the player 3 hits or something like that before they die. Some sort of way to nerf their might by adding more oldschool health standards.
2:26 Sounds like the Rebound Stone could use some homing set to it. That wouldn't be too hard to do. ...Unless the projectile inherits from the FastProjectile actor, in which none of this will work. The projectile would need +USEBOUNCESTATE and +SEEKERMISSILE set, then you'd just add a Bounce state where it calls A_SeekerMissile. That way, it only homes in on a bounce. You could even set it to only have a chance of homing on a bounce so as to not make it too useful.
This seems like a no-brainer to put into Heretic or Hexen, too. As close as you're going to get to having Castlevania enemies w/o spriting them all yourself, that is.
If anybody wants to try Nightmare of the Sin in Heretic, here you go: www.mediafire.com/file/a6wuxxzqqy3t7u6/notsheretic.pk3 It's just an addon, so you need to have Nightmare of the Sin as well. Make sure your load order puts notsheretic.pk3 *_after_* the main NOTS mod. I also added a new options menu that lets you reduce the hearts you find, if you think you're getting too many, and I also added the homing ability I described above. It's inactive by default, and you can even control the likelihood of it homing. It takes an additional Heart for each time it homes, to help balance out how much more useful homing makes it.
I've noticed the axe and holy water throws are normal for you, are you using a older version?? Cause the axe and holy water seem to either throw really low or basically hitting the ceiling for me. awesome video tho! :D

Or any other oldschool stuff like Doom or Quake? Say, this might be during a stream. To my mind, the idea would work out :D And I've never tried playing Doom MP and am eager to, if only I had a suitable company :) I am not the only one out here though, I guess.
I have a few suggestions. First one: Add to description what sourceport you're using to run the mod. I know it's usually GZDoom and latest stable or unstable version of it and mod author usually tells which one but still it's nice to know. For example Russian Overkill gives you advice to use latest devbuild but in latest devbuild atomic farts (and other specials) tend to crush GZDoom but work fine in stable version. Also would be nice to know if mod is working in multiplayer because usually it doesn't. Second one: Make a video about... settings. I've seen so many videos on youtube with disgustingly blurred sprites that I started thinking that people just doesn't know that it's possible to disable texture filtering (and sometimes it's on by default). Or "Adjust sprite clipping" setting, that one is a little bit mysterious. Or "Sector light mode". My friend had it on "Dark" for some reason and had no idea about it. We were playing thrugh JCP and he kept complaining about it being too dark until we figured that out. Or font size. I still have no idea how to set it up correctly. Or launch parameters. Add "+sv_jump 2 +sv_crouch 2 +freelook 1" as launch parameters and you will be able to look around, jump and crouch even if mapset says that you can't. Yay! Sequence breaking!
