Hey everyone, thanks very much for watching! Which of the 5 features mentioned will you be using most? P.s: Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe ❤️
I absolutely adore it… as a mom… it’s the one thing that does listen to me and I can turn up the music so loud I can drown out the noise in the house…. Must have! 😜
As far as I know, when I've tried this before, it's not been possible Stuart, due to the limitations of the BBC Sounds app. Best option for UK viewers is LBC, which you can build into a shortcut using Apple Music, but that's more news/chat show rather than music... I'll revisit this in the coming weeks and see if I can work something out!
@@HeyTechi thanks, apparently it is possible as the bbc or apple recommend doing this shortcut to enable this facility and I once saw a you tube video doing it but this was some time ago before I got a home pod so didn’t pay much attention to it - needless to say I’ve been unable to find same said video now.
I agree - the HomePod itself was far too expensive and Siri just wasn't up to scratch as a home assistant, but the balance is beginning to swing back Apple's way now with the HomePod Mini! You get 90-95% of the audio quality for a fraction of the price and Siri just keeps on improving!
Great video, and lots of great points! Struggling between the HomePod mini and the new echo 4th gen! Both have great features, and sound quality for the same price!
I’ll go for the Echo 4th gen, I had one and I really loved it, reliable and most important, native Alexa, sound is not a problem because they support Bluetooth and 3.5 audio input to connect it with other better speakers. Not like the Sonos or Bose speakers, they have Alexa built-in but aren’t Alexa speakers like the Echo. I’m planning to return my Sonos Roam back to the store and get an other Amazon Echo 4th gen or 5th gen until is released, not the Dot, the normal ones or called All new Echos when recently released
I have iPhone 11, iOS 14.4.2, I can’t use the feature handoff: I put my iPhone close to my HomePod mini but song doesn’t switching automatically. I can do it only manually.
Hi Sergei - if you go into your HomePod Mini settings (via the Apple Home App) check to see if you have an update for the HomePod Mini itself. I understand that HomePod OS 14.2 update resolved some of the issues users were having... If that doesn't work, it might be worth uninstalling your HomePod and setting it up again as a new device? Let me know if this helps! (p.s: Sorry for the slow reply!)
@@HeyTechi Thank you, but I already updated my HomePod to 14.4 🤔 Maybe I should reinstall it how you said. Or maybe it has such issue because my iPhone is Euro version but my HomePod I bought directly from Apple USA? 🤔
can you play music files from your iphone to homepod mini. i downloaded some music in my iphone i liseten to them in gym where they dont have wifi. can i play those music in home pod mini aswell ?
Yes, you can use the HomePod without WiFi with your iPhone via AirPlay. First, open the HomeKit app on the Apple device connected with your HomePod. Click the house-like icon at the top-left corner of the My Home screen. Swipe down and click on Allow Speaker Access. Choose Everyone. Set a dedicated password if you don’t want people nearby to access your HomePod speaker. Once done, you can send music or podcasts straight from your iPhone to your HomePod / HomePod Mini. Hope this helps! (and sorry for the late tutorial reply!)
Would totally depend on what MacOS you're running - if it's anything more recent than OS Lion, then probably yes! Worth checking the Apple website to confirm this though!
Did they change something when handing off phone calls? I get a pop up message on my iPhone that says “move from iPhone” that I have to acknowledge/click on in order for it to switch over. This makes hand off less convenient. This does not happen when handing off music. Any idea why they made it this way?
I think they've made this switch because it is easy to place your iPhone down near a HomePod and inadvertently the whole area can hear your personal phone call. It is a little annoying there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust the settings to make it automatic again...
You can set up a HomePod Mini with your iPad, but functions like Handoff are currently unavailable. You can manually use the HomePod Mini as a speaker for your iPad though!
If your iPhone is ringing, you can simply say "Hey Siri, answer the phone" and the call will automatically be taken up on the HomePod - you won't need to configure anything!
Welcome aboard! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing, it's always very much appreciated! We've got even more videos on some other HomePod Mini features that might be of interest too!
Still not entirely convinced why I shouldn’t use my iPad or my iPhone 11 for all of the same tasks. Personally I think the The HomePod is struggling to find its place
Very true, HandOff does work with iPhone 11 and newer - though when the HomePod first shipped, you did need a software update on your iDevice to get it to work. Thanks for watching!
Apple is such a letdown because of the way they have made the HomePod Mini. Because it only works with AirPlay! Like seriously? You can’t even it connect it to a Mac for a zoom call! There’s so much latency on Airplay and you can’t even use the HomePod Mini as a speaker and a mic. I wish Apple just fixes this soon!
You're spot on with this Vivek - I do wish that Apple freed up what the HomePod Mini can do away from AirPlay, it would really bring it into a whole new arena. Having said that, I use mine for handoff phone calls all the time and never have had an issue with lag?

Delighted that these features will be so useful for you James! Thanks for watching!
Would love to know how to create a shortcut to play bbc radio 2 from an iPad to home pod using the bbc sounds app
As far as I know, when I've tried this before, it's not been possible Stuart, due to the limitations of the BBC Sounds app. Best option for UK viewers is LBC, which you can build into a shortcut using Apple Music, but that's more news/chat show rather than music... Good video I’m still on the fence about the HomePod but the mini definitely makes the switch from an echo more enticing.

Does it connect to an Apple Mac mini 2016 Gen?
Would totally depend on what MacOS you're running - if it's anything more recent than OS Lion, then probably yes! Worth checking the Apple website to confirm this though!
Where did you get the rubberized stand?
That's not a rubberised stand, it's actually part of my desk! It's for cable management!
Oh okay
Thanks. It’s perfect for the HomePod mini lol
Great video - really informative. Thanks 👍

How to configure my incoming call to HomePod???
If your iPhone is ringing, you can simply say "Hey Siri, answer the phone" and the call will automatically be taken up on the HomePod - you won't need to configure anything!
As a bonus - if you hear your phone ringing, but, you can't look at the screen, you can also say "Hey Siri, who's calling?"
Nice one!
Great Video, Subbed and Commented. Continued Success!!
Great video! I should get mine next week. 🤞
Excellent! Will you be choosing the Space Grey or White HomePod Mini?
@@HeyTechi Space gray 🤩

That's fair - for sure, the HomePod/Mini is a product that won't have universal appeal - no product ever will!
Thanks for watching!
Handoff never worked for me 🤷🏻♂️
I don’t mind pay $50 more to buy a HomePod mini, one of the main reasons is it sounds so much better than echo dot mini
I agree - the speaker quality on the HomePod Mini is superb! -And all of the other Smart Home features it has only sweetens the deal!
Hand off only works with 11/12/13 iPhone models nothing to do with software up date.
