Severely underrated channel. Love the time and effort put into these videos. Sure helps that you guys use the same orange RR as mine :P. Keep up the great work.
Thanks a lot!! The local garage guy was about to open the axle on my Yamaha R15 when I challenged him on the basis of your video and got the job done in 15 mins!!!
3:00 is it supposed to make that dragging or rubbing sound even while riding with no brake pressure or application? No overheating? Or premature wear? Same sound both front rotors and rear is normal?
I am unable to put in the left pad coz thick pad can not fit in due to biased alignment. How can I get equal space on both sides for pad to fit in equally.
You have the wrong vocation. Should have been a movie star! Love these videos. One small thing. Prior to and during pushing the caliper piston back into the bore ensure there is ample room in the reservoir to receive the (extra) fluid. Stop pushing prior to reaching the reservoir's capacity.
Thanks, George. Typically, when you push the piston back in, there is enough leeway in the reservoir. It's always good to double check either way. Good call.
Very straightforward and helpful video, thanks! Any chance you could also make a video on bleeding the brakes/replacing the brake fluid for front and back?
I'll second to the love sent; I love you too, John! Might be the only lady on here. 🤣😂 You make my 2006 and 2012 CBR maintenance easier than flipping back and forth in my manuals :-) Also, you guys need more subscribers!! I'll share on FB.
I tried doing this without watching the video on my Honda cbf 500. I couldn't access all the nuts and gave up. I will try again tomorrow as there's only one that I need to take out. Thank you for your help.
awesome, and super simple, I might start mentioning your channel in my mods if i need some reassurance. I was gonna just go do it and learn on my way but this reassured me that it is just too simple xD I'm too used to working on cars.
Hi. Thank you for your videos. The rear brakes on my 08 600RR provide no feel at all. I cant tell whats going when i brake. Are there brembo rear brake kits for this bike available? Thanks in advance
0:35 when turning wheel should it make a slight rubbing sound, like i think i heard on that one? and like at the end when turning to "make sure gonna grab"
I have a CBR600F3 W (1998) would this be exactly the same procedure on this bike? also would i need to place a small amount of copper grease on the back plate of the pads before installation aswel as the pin??
Could you please make a video of how to fix a atv when you press the start button and it just makes a clicking sound? Because when I press the button it makes a clicking sound. This would help me a lot.
Take a look at you battery voltage. ua-cam.com/video/qsuuWZhfKo4/v-deo.html Then look at your starter solenoid and charging system ua-cam.com/video/FEsDt7WJrcA/v-deo.html
I will bleed it, but I've also just noticed that the hole in the break line bolt (that connects break line to the break line) is not lining up. It's a quarter turn past when hand tight and a quarter turn short after tightening.
I wonder if its as easy for zxr 400? The brake caliper is on the opposite side (under the disc, not on top of it like in the video) I kinda need to change the pads but not sure if I can xD dont want to fuck it up
Mr John. I followed your instructions here on the 07 model. We had trouble getting the back pads to squeeze in and that was only possibly after a hassle and without the clips that go on the brake pads. After finally getting it together, tested them out and the back brake wasn't working, no pressure. What is the fix here that I need to do to regain pressure, get them to work? Thanks in advance.
I changed my rear brakes from one cbr to another (same year group) and compressed the brake using a c-clamp. I leaked what I thought was a negligible amount of fluid in the process (still well within the limits of the brake fluid well). Now my brakes won't compress on either bike. Suggestions?
You moved the caliper from one unit to the other? If so, when you open up any hydraulic system, you must bleed the system. ua-cam.com/video/f07eAc_Uq50/v-deo.html
I have just been helping a friend put his newly powder coated wheels back on his cb1000rr 2004 model 4. when putting on the rear brake back on a metal shim dropped out, the one in the top inside is in place but where does the other one go ?
I went to put the new pads on but only one side fits with the inserts around the pad....both pads with the inserts won't fit...any suggestions? I assume they're designed to have those inserts around the pads
Yes it is but its the pad on the opposite side that won't slide in. It's to tight, if I remove the the metal bracket and that fiberglass insert it won't fit. If I remove them the pad slides in no problem.
I have dual piston calipers. The pads are wearing unevenly really badly. I disassembled them completely along with the rubbers and cleaned everything until it was bone dry and then lubricated the sliding shafts, pad retaining pins, and everything else I could think. I also removed the pistons and checked the condition of seals (removed them). I cleaned the pistons thoroughly. But one of the pistons is three times harder to push in and out. I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions? I only have 25,000 miles on this bike and the calipers seem to be in good condition, so I'm not sure why I'm having this problem.
If you cleaned and lubed everything and it's still sticking, the best thing to do is rebuild the caliper with new parts. It could be a poorly manufactured piston or the caliper isn't pushing fluid properly.
I have a bobber that I picked up yesterday and they guy said that the rear wheel and brake caliper came off a cbr929. caliper is a nissin brand (that the only info I have on it) would the hanger pin for the 600 work on the 929 ? and would they be the same brake pads?
Sintered last longer, and react better under high heat. Organic grip better in dry and need little heat to perform their best. it will depend on your ride style.
Hello Sir , I want to purchase honda cb hornet 160r.But I am confused about brakes. According to your opinion and experience which brakes are best either combi brakes or single disk. So plz suggest me as possible
Well, let's clarify, by combi brakes you mean linked braking front and back on one lever, yes? There are combi brakes that are also single disc. For a 160cc bike, either should be sufficient for riding.
Just changed my chain, sprockets, front and rear brake pads, and my oil using your videos and saved me a bunch of money. Thank you!!

That internal torque wrench is undefeated!!!!!!!
Never learn, always coming back to this vid. 😁
I am unable to put in the left pad coz thick pad can not fit in due to biased alignment. How can I get equal space on both sides for pad to fit in equally.
Man thanks for making things so simple and clear

Still my favourite tutorial guy!
Thanks just changed my rear brake pads. Thanks for keeping it simple.
No fucking kidding. New rider here. I've always worked in my own car. And this looks simple as heck.
Very straightforward and helpful video, thanks! Any chance you could also make a video on bleeding the brakes/replacing the brake fluid for front and back?
That is on our agenda!

I have a cbr300r with ABS, when compressing the rear piston is there any special procedure for bikes with abs or does it not matter?
What type of grease did you use on the hanger pin?
Thanks for the good video!
awesome, and super simple, I might start mentioning your channel in my mods if i need some reassurance. I was gonna just go do it and learn on my way but this reassured me that it is just too simple xD I'm too used to working on cars.
simple, clean and right to the point, great video. thanks
Would this be the same process with a 2005 cbr rr 600 ?
Tyler Phair yea mate if you have a stock brake setup then it's the same as this for example it's the same procedure on my 1988 cbr 250r
Yup, I have the 2006 and 2012 and they're the same. Since this was 3 years ago, I'm sure you have it all squared away!
Do you have to clean out the inside of the caliper before putting new ones in? Also will pushing the bore back make the rear brake fluid rise at all?
Hi. Thank you for your videos. The rear brakes on my 08 600RR provide no feel at all. I cant tell whats going when i brake. Are there brembo rear brake kits for this bike available? Thanks in advance
took me 30 min thank you !
Simple & str8 to the point
Is this the same process for an 03? had a bad experience with my mechanic and refuse to take it back to him
Do I Oppen reservoir and grease the back of the pads??
Hi, great video as usual..... is it okay to apply any grease like lithium, copper or silicon or is there any particular grease?
0:35 when turning wheel should it make a slight rubbing sound, like i think i heard on that one? and like at the end when turning to "make sure gonna grab"

Can you do a cbr250? Or is it the same procedure?
Amazing 👏 🙀 😯 😮 😲 👏
Good precise video
I lost it when you said "my internal torque wrench"!
:D When you have done this for awhile, you get a good feel for it. Thanks for watching!
How tf did you get the pad on the right in... wtf
I cant get the one out you made it seem so easy
is it possible 2 change ur front break 2 work in the rear & vise versa
Thanks for the tips
I will bleed it, but I've also just noticed that the hole in the break line bolt (that connects break line to the break line) is not lining up. It's a quarter turn past when hand tight and a quarter turn short after tightening.
The end location of the the hole on the caliper banjo bolt will not matter. Bleeding the system should straighten it out. Good Luck!
my exact model is 2014,cbr 250 R ABS
Thank you, easy to apply
I wonder if its as easy for zxr 400? The brake caliper is on the opposite side (under the disc, not on top of it like in the video) I kinda need to change the pads but not sure if I can xD dont want to fuck it up
thanks so muc this video
you made it very easy. Thank you!
You are very welcome. I'm glad we could help! Thanks for watching.
Thank you, very helpfull
Glad it was helpful!
I have a 97 cbr f3 I just changed my pads and I am now getting a kinda grinding skipping noice when I hit the rear brake
Pull them off and double check them. There could be dirt on the pads, or they could have glazed. Also check your rotor and confirm it's not warped.
Mr John. I followed your instructions here on the 07 model. After finally getting it together, tested them out and the back brake wasn't working, no pressure. What is the fix here that I need to do to regain pressure, get them to work? Thanks in advance.
No pressure is usually a fluid issue, have you bled the system?
Partzilla , no we didn't bleed them bc we only changed the pads.
If there is no pressure on the pedal...That would be the first step.
I changed my rear brakes from one cbr to another (same year group) and compressed the brake using a c-clamp. I leaked what I thought was a negligible amount of fluid in the process (still well within the limits of the brake fluid well). Now my brakes won't compress on either bike. Suggestions?

Thank you!!!!!!
about how often do you need to replace brake pads
Check them periodically for wear. It really depends on how aggressive you are with your braking.
I have just been helping a friend put his newly powder coated wheels back on his cb1000rr 2004 model 4. when putting on the rear brake back on a metal shim dropped out, the one in the top inside is in place but where does the other one go ?
Shims go on the backside of the pads. Unless you're referring to the spring plate that sits on the top.
@@PartzillaParts spring plate, one is in place inside. Its a smaller one I think fits at one end. Cheers.
Thank you
You're welcome, Frank!
fast and easy thanks
Glad we could help, Adrian!
Is this the process for a 2007 cbr600rr?
Yes, should be the same.
Way to easy! THANKS!
Easy is good! Glad you could get it done, Charlie.
I went to put the new pads on but only one side fits with the inserts around the pad....both pads with the inserts won't fit...any suggestions? I assume they're designed to have those inserts around the pads
David Rivera Are you aure the the caliper piston is pushed all the way back in the bore?
Yes it is but its the pad on the opposite side that won't slide in. It's to tight, if I remove the the metal bracket and that fiberglass insert it won't fit. If I remove them the pad slides in no problem.
the pads I purchased were thicker and wouldn't fit with the shims.
Is this abs?
I have dual piston calipers. The pads are wearing unevenly really badly. Okay, thanks!
My original pads have metal clips over the pads but the new pads do not, should I reuse the clips?
Yes, just swap the spring clips onto the new pads.
I have a bobber that I picked up yesterday and they guy said that the rear wheel and brake caliper came off a cbr929. caliper is a nissin brand (that the only info I have on it) would the hanger pin for the 600 work on the 929 ? and would they be the same brake pads?
Never tried to use 600 parts on a 929. It would be easier to just buy the parts for the 929.
Is sintered better or organic for my rear on my 03 cbr600rr??
Sintered last longer, and react better under high heat. Organic grip better in dry and need little heat to perform their best.
it will depend on your ride style.
Great the best thanks
what will happen if we replace cbr 250 non abs brake pad on cbr 250 ads brake pad
Hello Sai. Can you give me your exact Year and model number?
i am showing the part number are the same for both models. you should be fine installing them.
Hello Sir , I want to purchase honda cb hornet 160r.But I am confused about brakes. According to your opinion and experience which brakes are best either combi brakes or single disk. So plz suggest me as possible

Partzilla Yes Sir I will purchase Hornet 160r only with front disk only
Do I need to bleed the brakes?
If you open the closed system, yes.
I love you John
Well...Thank you Mr. Exterminator!
great!
My internal wrench says about there 😂😂😂😂
Manual torque wrench on Partzilla.com: $15
Digital torque wrench on Partzilla.com: $105
John's internal torque wrench: Priceless
I can't get the back brake pad in please help!
I have a 2007 Honda cbr600rr and I can't get the rear back pad in, there isn't enough space for it
Can't pry it with the screwdriver to open it up? Check to see your fluid isn't over filled. It needs space to allow you to push the piston back.
I'm having the same issue. It's the pad opposite to the one on the piston. New pad doesn't fit between the rotor and the caliper
will this work on a 07 1000RR?.
Same process, parts will be different.
Partzilla thanks for the reply, will sort them out soon then.
Spirited ride haha
and I paid £25 when I got my first bike ha ha

Do these pads work
Thank you
