Glad he made it safely down and back up the rope. I found good humor in his words "If you don't see this vlog, you'll know where I am." Thanks for taking us along Mr. Gibbs. Thank you very kindly!
I wanted you to know, Adam, that I am sharing your videos, to budding photographers I know as well as people close to me who I am hoping, by doing so, will understand my obsession better and thus be more supportive of my forays into the wilderness. So thanks for setting an example for me!
Everyone can take a photo of a waterfall, but no one will take it the way you do. Beautiful. Last image works for me. This is forest, sometimes perfect in imperfection... it is like that main waterfall is hidden behind the curtain, it just invites you to go there and see it for yourself ;) Thank you for sharing.
I truly envy your time spent in Gods country Adam. Your image making and sharing of your expertise is much appreciated. Bravo! Best, Anthony, Norwalk, CT
I really liked the photo of the falls with the green plunge pool at the bottom. But my favorite was a more distant shot with the smaller cascades in the foreground. That limb that continually wanted to stick itself into the upper left of frrame, in my thinking, gave a personallity to the forest, as it was trying to keep the power of the falls a hidden from intruders. To my way of thinking it belonged in the shot and didn't deter anything from the final product. I really admire your work.
My reaction to the first photograph was Wow! Vancouver Island is a photographers dream and thanks for setting the bar so high when it comes to photographing this gorgeous area. Great Vlog.
Excellent video. Really appreciate hearing your thought processes regarding the compromises we all have to make shooting landscapes. Great images. Thanks!
That certainly looked a bit precarious getting down - especially alone and with all your equipment! You worked the scene very well and liked the way you talked the viewer through it. Didn't look like a place you could fly your drone so well done - as always the images were excellent.
I'm a new subscriber but all the images of yours that I have seen are heart-achingly beautiful, even though you caution us (very humbly) at the beginning that things may not work out. You could make a silk purse of a sow's ear! Also, I gained new insights listening to your thought process concerning your compositional decisions.
The problem that I have is that often I'll video something thinking that it is a pretty image and it turns out to be a dud so I like to play along with caution, haha. Not every image or trip are successes, but that's good, keeps me reasonably humble and going back for more. Thanks, Deborah!
Look forward to every new video you put out.........I do so enjoy the addition of the drone footage in particular.......not to forget the outstanding images you produce
Another most interesting video, Adam. The there is you slowed everything down, giving you the time to tweak your angles, foreground and flowing water interest. Plus an additional tweak from Photoshop really helped out. Again nice work!
Something magical about waterfalls I think. They don’t always lend themselves to that perfect uncluttered view that we hope for but that’s the fun of exploring a “new” location. You managed to overcome those obstacles and come away with some nice images and as always, the video/drone work was spot on. I really love Vancouver Island. Just wish it was a little closer so that I could visit more often. Thanks for taking me along for the ride. Cheers Adam!
I just need to say how much I appreciate the effort you put into your videos, each moment is wonderfully crafted. Have shared a link to this on my FB page. Thanks so much for sharing!
Nice falls, must visit!! Sure like the green pools at the base, the colours came out nicely in the final images. I like your last composition best. Good lesson :)
Love the case studies where you walk the viewer through the thought process and challenges to taking an image. Indeed often there has to be compromises when you take picture. Thanks for sharing
Great vlog once again Adam, it`s nice to be tested now and again and not get everything your own way isn`t it. You managed to get some very nice images in the end.
A special thank you for spending an ample amount of time reviewing your composition challenges. As a photographer it's the highlight of the video. Wonderful video. Greetings from Newfoundland. Pat
I really enjoyed this video... It is always a challenge to explore new areas, but many times worth the reward. I am on the hunt for some decent waterfalls, so hopefully I can find some interesting new areas soon.
I was very pleased with the very didactic way of teaching how to use the elements of composition and the basic contours and their way of adding the elements that inspired you from the scene you saw. Thank you Adam for sharing your experiences., Make us live the moment to all of us who like photography. Take care. All the Best.
Love the compositions here. Lesson learned for me, and perhaps many others, on how to look at a scene to get stunning images, knowing it's not necessary to shoot the entire falls from top to bottom. First time there for you ~ no doubt it won't be the last. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic work. Thank you for let we see how it is done. Certainly we won’t do it sitting in front of the computer, but your videos give me that push to go out and look for that experience.
Excellent video, Adam. I really appreciated your detailed demonstration of how you created your compositions and problem solved in the field. And of course the final images are gorgeous. Thank you!
Somehow I missed this video when it came out, but I'm glad I found it. The waterfall images were really special, but more importantly, the way you described how you got to your composition was just so helpful. The calm, measured approach you have to solving the issues at hand is great to see in action, very instructive. Well done 👍.
Enjoyed the shared thoughts regarding the compromises Adam. I think the second location downstream turned out well. Although there was obstruction from the tree branches, the beautiful turquoise pool mitigates that and the whole image with that great foreground works, imo.
Thank you so much Adam for the great compositional instruction. I love how you show your thoughts on setting up and on screen photo of what works for the shot. Your images turned out amazing. Your such an inspiration to my photography and I really appreciate these videos!!
The pictures of the waterfalls are truly stunning, love your work Adam! Also, you had me rolling on the floor with your remark "No expense spared", that was just aces :-D
Hi Adam Heard of your channel from Ben Horne. Love these images, and I enjoyed a lot your talking through the composition challenges. Really interesting. The image at 8:23 really is stunning...my favorite. Subscribed!
The more detailed explanation and your thoughts behind the comp etc was great the way you did, love to see more of that. Anyway most shots was really good and keep snapping!
Thanks! I'll try to cover comps a bit more, it's difficult because many times I'll explain a comp that I really like but when I look at it on a big screen it often doesn't quite work. It is a great way to get some insight into the thought process though, thanks again.
Great images Adam ..... certainly some compositional challenges, but I really liked the way you processed these images which kept the focus on the subject without the distractions
Great composition with the foreground cascade. I'm happy you shot it at a faster shutter speed or it would have been mushy (I've made that mistake so many times and kill myself later over it). Looks great with the little bit of movement!
Good that you take it easy Adam, that climb down looked a bit scary to me. Accidents can easily happen. Beautiful Images as usual. Really liked #1 and #4.
Amazing adventure again, Adam. Great discovery and brilliant pics, in particular the last one with the minicascade in the foreground. Looking forward the Hole in the Rock falls in one of your coming vlogs!!
As always a superb video with your usual high standard of production and your amazing images. You’re really teaching me not just to think before making an image but also how to think. It’s wonderful how you don’t just turn up at a scene and the image is automatically there. You have to work to get your image and we get to see and hear what you are looking for, and, maybe more importantly, what you are trying to avoid in the image. Thank you very much for all these videos, they really are a great learning tool.
New to your channel Adam. Enjoyed it very much... Waterfalls are an absolute blast to shoot. I could see the challenges you faced with all the trees & snags blocking the composition you wanted... Thanks for sharing this, Bill Farr... Vermont, USA... :-)
Hey Gavin, thanks! Weiner is definitely worth checking out. I haven't made my way to Virgin yet so if you're still up for it let me know. Hopefully next week sometime. Cheers!
Thanks a lot for your channel! Really massive and honest thoughts flow about photography, meanings of it, composition options, and feelings. It really inspires me!
Fantastic video again. You are one of my favourite vloggers. Keep them coming. Canadian landscape is very similar to Norways in many ways and as me you love waterfalls. I can't wait to go out shoot waterfalls, but has to get rid of 4 feet of snow first ;-)
This is phenomenal! I've been planning my trip to BC for quite sometime now and watching your vlogs i get live vicariously through your adventures. One day i'll get the chance to make it out there haha great vlog and the photos are incredible. I love how you capture waterfalls. Very much an inspiration. Keep up the great work!
A real beautiful location and some wonderful shots. Rising above the conditions and pesky things that can block a shot are always an opportunity to grow in a compositional way. Challenges are what makes us grow and improve. If you think about doing another processing video those first two shots might well be good subjects. Your panoramic and mystical take on the location (especially the second dark and moody image) took quite a bit of fiddling in LR and PS. All that work made the feeling of being down in that gorge all the more powerful an experience to anyone looking at the images.
Great video - very informative - love the way you strip down your thought process on composition. Oh and another thing - I want that hat with the penguins!
Shared! Yes, Vancouver Island clear cutting is heartbreaking. Fantastic photos again!! You have amazing talent and a great eye. Thanks for these. BTW, do you ever stitch photos together? Could that be a work around for some compositions?
It is a nice walk through of your approach to composition. You could easily remove first 3:50 and last 1 minute from the vid to make it crisp and nice.
Adam, @ 4:40 did you say you "wanted something more meaning-fall"? ;) These cinematic vlogs you do are outstanding - don't understand how more people haven't subbed.
Haha, funny guy. Yeah, I'm not sure how the algorithms work on UA-cam, would be nice to have a few more subscribers but at the same time, I can't really complain numbers are rising slowly. Thanks, Drew!
Yeah Adam, I'm the guy that takes an image of the whole waterfall, LOL! However, I do scramble around to get tighter images. With all the waterfalls around NY, I do appreciate the compromises that need to be taken. I will however be more attuned to the tips provided especially on the use of a long lens. Cheers! (btw guess you survived the rappel down!)
Hey Adam great vid, I'll have to check Weiner (hahah gotta love BC) and Hole in the wall out. Have you been north of Port Alberni to the Stamp River yet? Ive only been there a few times during the Salmon run but it does look like a great place to hike around. Also when you're in Parksville, a few of us usually meet up at French Creek marina in the mornings take a few shots of what's around, plan a few outings and do some BS-ing....great bunch. Anyway, very welcome to join us.
Very enjoyable Adam. I thought you managed to get some good compositions in the end. This place reminds me of 'Water Breaks Its Neck' in Radnorshire. Not sure if you know it but one I've had a go at but not with success like this. Great stuff! All the best. Mark
A pleasure Adam - it was a really good outing. Here's a video of mine featuring the falls, which my twin brother Paul and I did some while back. Not meant to shock but Paul is no longer with us - it was fabulous though and the falls looked good. Here's the link if you have a spare few minutes goo.gl/sKUHgg you'll know doubt do a grand job here. I recommend it if in the UK. Take care and enjoy the video. Peace!
Always educational, always inspiring. Thanks so much Adam. Makes me want to move out there. Do you ever encounter bears and the boots seem mostly ideal are they ever an encumbrance?
Yep, I come across bears quite frequently, they usually move on. The boots are great! comfortable, waterproof. The only negatives are that they are a bit sweaty at times and the soles could be better for wet surfaces. Thanks, Stephen!
Beautiful shots! I enjoyed looking at how you solved compositional problems. I have what may seem like an odd question. What type of pants do you wear? Do you wear waterproof pants when shooting like this or just get wet and deal with it? And who makes waterproof pants?
Thanks, Stephanie! I generally just wear outdoor gear. The pants I like are made by Marmot but are not waterproof, they do dry reasonably fast though and are great for abrasive use.
If you were to go further back and zoom more, would that work or is there too much of a raise in terrain? Appreciate you showing how you get these amazing images.
Meant to indicate which image the question refers to. The first image, trying to get the white water in the lower left corner, but removing the tree in the upper left corner.
Glad he made it safely down and back up the rope. I found good humor in his words "If you don't see this vlog, you'll know where I am." Thanks for taking us along Mr. Gibbs. Thank you very kindly!
Oh, you caught that Rick, lol. I thought I was being funny, haha. Cheers!
I wanted you to know, Adam, that I am sharing your videos, to budding photographers I know as well as people close to me who I am hoping, by doing so, will understand my obsession better and thus be more supportive of my forays into the wilderness. So thanks for setting an example for me!

This is forest, sometimes perfect in imperfection... it is like that main waterfall is hidden behind the curtain, it just invites you to go there and see it for yourself ;) Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Andrzej! I agree but sometimes for whatever reason it just doesn't work.
I truly envy your time spent in Gods country Adam. Your image making and sharing of your expertise is much appreciated.
Bravo!

I really liked the photo of the falls with the green plunge pool at the bottom. But my favorite was a more distant shot with the smaller cascades in the foreground. Beautiful part of the world you live in and your photos exemplify the best of it.
Thanks, Nina!
My reaction to the first photograph was Wow! Vancouver Island is a photographers dream and thanks for setting the bar so high when it comes to photographing this gorgeous area. Great Vlog.
Thanks, Debra! Love it over there.
Beautiful area you found. I think taking risks while hiking is definitely part of our sport!
Sometimes as long as I'm not risking my life, lol.
Excellent video. Really appreciate hearing your thought processes regarding the compromises we all have to make shooting landscapes. Great images. Thanks!
Thank you, Carl!
That certainly looked a bit precarious getting down - especially alone and with all your equipment! You worked the scene very well and liked the way you talked the viewer through it. Didn't look like a place you could fly your drone so well done - as always the images were excellent.
Getting down wasn't too bad, just wanted to add some excitement, haha. Yeah, the drone was a bit tight for sure. Thanks, Valley Walker!

You're right. Good strategy. I prefer "reasonably humble" as opposed to "overly confident".
Great work. You're a fortunate man to live in such a stunning location.
I am indeed thank you!
Nice composition in this video. It’s always nice and fun to find new places to photograph. 👍
it is indeed, lots of fun finding new spots. Thank you, Ivo!
Look forward to every new video you put out.........I do so enjoy the addition of the drone footage in particular.......not to forget the outstanding images you produce
Thank you, Dianne! The drone is a great tool, it offers such a different perspective on the landscape. Thanks!
Another most interesting video, Adam. The there is you slowed everything down, giving you the time to tweak your angles, foreground and flowing water interest. Plus an additional tweak from Photoshop really helped out. Again nice work!
great to see the master at work
Thank you, David!

Thanks, John! Vancouver Island certainly has a good share of lovely waterfalls, hard to resist.
I just need to say how much I appreciate the effort you put into your videos, each moment is wonderfully crafted. Have shared a link to this on my FB page. Thanks so much for sharing!
Great! thanks!
Dam!! What a location and your PP is fantastic! Nice work as always 😁
Cheers, Ginger!
Nice falls, must visit!! Sure like the green pools at the base, the colours came out nicely in the final images. I like your last composition best. Good lesson :)
Thanks, Richard! Not far to walk either, well worth a visit.
Tremendous work AG, video and of course still photos!
You've mentioned the two go-to lenses of mine, the 24-120 & 14-24. I really like both of them.
Fantastic images Adam! And I loved the slow motion footage you captured of the falling water. Beautiful...
Ah, great! thanks, Anton!
Love the case studies where you walk the viewer through the thought process and challenges to taking an image. Indeed often there has to be compromises when you take picture. Thanks for sharing
Ah yes always compromising, it's almost like a good marriage, haha. Cheers!
Great vlog once again Adam, it`s nice to be tested now and again and not get everything your own way isn`t it. You managed to get some very nice images in the end.
Thanks, Jeff!
Great pics as usual Adam! Thanks for the vlog👍
Thanks, Craig!
Great video and totally awesome images. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, John!
A special thank you for spending an ample amount of time reviewing your composition challenges. As a photographer it's the highlight of the video. Wonderful video. Greetings from Newfoundland. Pat
Great vlog Adam - really helpful to see you problem solving on your compositions.
good! thank you!
I really enjoyed this video... It is always a challenge to explore new areas, but many times worth the reward. I am on the hunt for some decent waterfalls, so hopefully I can find some interesting new areas soon.
Thanks, Timothy! I'm off tomorrow to explore another new area as well, fingers crossed.
You certainly live in a photographers playground.lol. Great content and drone footage. Enjoy hearing your explanations very
in-depth . Thank Adam :)
Thank you, Nathan!
Great vlog adam, worth the scramble down to take those amazing images
Oh for sure, great finding new hidden spots to photograph. Thanks, Jim!
I was very pleased with the very didactic way of teaching how to use the elements of composition and the basic contours and their way of adding the elements that inspired you from the scene you saw. Thank you, Federico!
These videos are just class, always a joy to watch & perfectly edited. Great work & really inspiring.
Thank you, Scott!
Enjoyed watching you work out the issues on getting the image you want. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful phografi I want to see more of your videos 😊👍👍
More lovely work Adam
Cheers, Michael!
Your photos of the falls are magical, and the music enhances that impression. I really enjoyed this vlog (as usual!).
Thank again, CathyAnn!
So far, my favorite video. Well done!
Love the compositions here. Lesson learned for me, and perhaps many others, on how to look at a scene to get stunning images, knowing it's not necessary to shoot the entire falls from top to bottom. First time there for you ~ no doubt it won't be the last. Thanks for sharing.

Sure the waterfall is blocked by trees, but I feel it also adds a bit of mystery. Lovely area. Thanks and cheers, G
Fantastic work. Thank you for let we see how it is done. Certainly we won’t do it sitting in front of the computer, but your videos give me that push to go out and look for that experience.
Haha, good to hear, Jaimie! It is hard to keep motivated this time of year.
Well, I am in Australia, so this is the time, we are in autumn here.
Excellent video, Adam. I really appreciated your detailed demonstration of how you created your compositions and problem solved in the field. And of course the final images are gorgeous. Thank you!
good to hear, thanks!

Thanks, Stephen! Yep there is always something not quite right, haha. Ah it was a fun day out for sure.
I’ve just found your channel and it’s really good. Love the way you process your woodland work.
Thanks, Danny!
As always fascinating vlog-adventure-photography 👌😉
Beautiful waterfall and valuable photo tips!!! Thank you so much Adam for sharing this wonder!!
My pleasure, Victor! thanks for your feedback.
Thank you so much Adam for the great compositional instruction. I love how you show your thoughts on setting up and on screen photo of what works for the shot. Your images turned out amazing. Your such an inspiration to my photography and I really appreciate these videos!!
Good to hear, thanks, Jeff!
Great video Adam, a beautiful looking place and very enjoyable detail on how you chose your compositions
Thank you, Ralph!
Fantastic photos Adam...
Thank you!
Great location! Great photos! Great video Adam! This video is inspiring me to go photograph waterfalls since spring is just around the corner. Cheers
Thanks, RoM! Must admit that I am looking forward to spring
I do enjoy your videos Adam, you did a grand job of finding decent compositions in difficult circumstances. All the best.
Thanks, Trevor!
The pictures of the waterfalls are truly stunning, love your work Adam! Also, you had me rolling on the floor with your remark "No expense spared", that was just aces :-D
Great, thank you, Thorsten!
Hi Adam
Heard of your channel from Ben Horne. Love these images, and I enjoyed a lot your talking through the composition challenges. Really interesting. The image at 8:23 really is stunning...my favorite.
Subscribed!
Great! thanks, Mark!

Beautiful images Adam and a very impressive content. Enjoyed learning more about composing images. Thanks for that. Great choice of music, Adam.
The music you use is impressively hip Adam! I really dig it.
Yeh, Epidemic sound has some really great music to choose from, really adds to the videos for sure.
Great composition with the foreground cascade. I'm happy you shot it at a faster shutter speed or it would have been mushy (I've made that mistake so many times and kill myself later over it). Looks great with the little bit of movement!
Yes, nobody likes mushy, haha. Thanks, Lions!
Good that you take it easy Adam, that climb down looked a bit scary to me. Accidents can easily happen. Beautiful Images as usual. Really liked #1 and #4.
Wasn't too bad, just thought I would dramatise it a bit, haha. Thanks, Leffe!
Beautiful shots and such a lot of water falling there.
Thanks, Brenda!
Amazing adventure again, Adam. Great discovery and brilliant pics, in particular the last one with the minicascade in the foreground. Looking forward the Hole in the Rock falls in one of your coming vlogs!!

Great video again Adam. Love that waterfall. Gonna have to visit soon :)
Hey Gavin, thanks! Weiner is definitely worth checking out. I haven't made my way to Virgin yet so if you're still up for it let me know. Hopefully next week sometime. Cheers!
Aye, still up for Virgin. Just got back from Weiner with some decent shots so thanks for the inspiration :)
Thanks a lot for your channel! Really massive and honest thoughts flow about photography, meanings of it, composition options, and feelings. It really inspires me!
Much appreciated!
Really enjoyed the video and I think you did a wonderful job of post processing the photos of the waterfalls.
Thank you, Philip!
As usual, enjoyed the video.
Great! thanks, Ken!
Fantastic video again. You are one of my favourite vloggers. Keep them coming. Canadian landscape is very similar to Norways in many ways and as me you love waterfalls. I can't wait to go out shoot waterfalls, but has to get rid of 4 feet of snow first ;-)
Thanks, Jarie! Haha yeah I guess 4 feet of snow doesn't help, hang in there spring is on its way.
Thank you, Jude!
Again awesome video! Greetings from Poland
Cheers, LS!
Thanks Adam been watching a lot of your videos lately, I'm looking for ways to improve my photography while exploring fine arts photography.
Great video! Really enjoy your adventures! This make my saturday evening complete, thanke you Adam!
Great vlog, some wonderful images there!
Thanks, Paul!

Thanks for the processing suggestion James! I might just do that, thanks!
This was awesome vlog I have been struggling with my compositions lately and this definitely well help me in the field. Thanks for the tips
God to hear, thanks, Lawrence!
Great video - very informative - love the way you strip down your thought process on composition. Oh and another thing - I want that hat with the penguins!
You’ll have to take a boat out to South Georgia island to get one, haha, seriously!
@@QuietLightPhoto - Brilliant!
Both inspirational & informative... spectacular locations! thank you Adam.
Thank you, Bellamoonnature!
Shared! Yes, Vancouver Island clear cutting is heartbreaking. Fantastic photos again!! You have amazing talent and a great eye. Thanks for these. BTW, do you ever stitch photos together? Could that be a work around for some compositions?
Thanks, Kelly! You mean like stitch two or so images using different focal lengths? I know of some photographers that do that but I've never tried it.
I carry a length of paracord, it's ideal for easing the odd branch out of the shot.
It is a nice walk through of your approach to composition. You could easily remove first 3:50 and last 1 minute from the vid to make it crisp and nice.
Once again stunning vlog and images Adam.
Cheers, Andrew!
Great video!!!
Sometimes a location is a tough nut to crack. That´s the most fun in landscape photography if you get away with a good image anyway.
Oh for sure Jürgen, I absolutely love checking out new locations, especially if they have some notable subjects to photograph.
Amazing Adam! thanks and congratulations!
Cheers, Salvador!
Adam, @ 4:40 did you say you "wanted something more meaning-fall"? ;)
These cinematic vlogs you do are outstanding - don't understand how more people haven't subbed.
Haha, funny guy. Yeah, I'm not sure how the algorithms work on UA-cam, would be nice to have a few more subscribers but at the same time, I can't really complain numbers are rising slowly. Thanks, Drew!
Excelent!
Good stuff.
Great Oscar Mayer's joke. lol. no really, another great video, Adam.
Thanks, Nick! wasn't sure if anyone would get that one, haha.
Awesome images!
Thanks, Nigel!
So inspiring! Thank you!
Cheers! Great video man! really nice to show your thinking and the battles we all go through as photographers.. There is always a solution :)
There is and I think that is the most fun part of all, working out compositions. Thanks!
Hey Adam great vid, I'll have to check Weiner (hahah gotta love BC) and Hole in the wall out. Have you been north of Port Alberni to the Stamp River yet? Thanks, Dwight! I might just do that. I haven't been up to Stamp yet, just too many areas to check out and not enough time I guess.
Sounds good Adam....I'm going to take your lead and head out to Hornby tomorrow. The weather is fantastic!
Lucky you, should be fantastic out there, so warm today.
Very enjoyable Adam. I thought you managed to get some good compositions in the end. This place reminds me of 'Water Breaks Its Neck' in Radnorshire. Not sure if you know it but one I've had a go at but not with success like this. Great stuff! All the best. Mark

The first image, trying to get the white water in the lower left corner, but removing the tree in the upper left corner.
possibly, but there was a drop behind me.
Adam Gibbs, well that might pose a bit of a problem. 😂
