Fantastic video Adam. The video sequences are superb, and I especially like the Wallpaper images at the end. The light streaming through from behind and lighting up the mossy lichen tress just made them for me.
That light, and your handling of it, turned the park into a magical location, Adam. I'd say you added a bunch of content to your portfolio. At the beginning, I thought your drone was heading for a look at that raven. :-)
Thanks, Stephen! That would have been really neat if a Raven had been perched on top of the opening stump. I absolutely love Ravens, my favourite bird.
man, I hope you realize just how fortunate you are to be able to live near a place so beautiful. There isn't anything even remotely as beautiful as that forest you're in near me. These images look like they're out of a fairy tale
I like how there are still comps in locations previously visited. I thought you were going to take an upclose of that mushroom on a stump behind you with the trunks as foreground. That fungus was just screaming, "Hey, what about me?!" :)
Stumbled upon your videos and enjoy them very much. I'm not a photographer but I must say you have the "art of seeing" down very well. Your moss photos look like Robert Bateman prints or vice versa. Your making me homesick for British Columbia. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I taught everything Bateman knows about composition, haha. In all seriousness though studying the work of other artisits and mediums is a fantastic way to learn about photographic compostion.
That was just gobsmakingly beautiful Adam. I see what you mean by the light being the most impotant thing. Thank you for sharing your work, it's inspiring me to get myself out of bed earlier lol.
Thanks for great work. Nice to see what photography is about. Original work, seeing something new, creating personal images. To many make the same photos of the same things on the same well to known location. You make your own tripodholes ! Respect !
Thanks, Jeppe! It's often difficult to make new tripod holes, especially in areas that are at the top of every outdoor photographer's list. I do have an advantage in that Canada is vast and has a small population. Thanks again.
This was one of the most cinematic vlogs I´ve ever seen, very well done mr gibbs. I hope that i will have the chance to visit Canada in the next couple of years since all the places you show in your vlogs are just stunning. Greetings from Germany!
Thank you! We have a lot of Germans come to visit Canada. My partners family are German, the only problem is they came for a visit to Canada and never left, haha!
Oh wow, these shots you wondered if they are too busy - they are not in my opinion. Au contraire, they give kind of a "magic" feeling. And only greens works better than I would have thought.
What's up Adam? I've been watching your channel for quite some time now. The reason it has taken me so long to comment is because I have been viewing your channel from a smart TV. Of course, that's no excuse. Anyway, I love your work. The first shot you showed was really quite nice. The out of focus part of the shot gave it a certain artistic flair with the soft back lighting. Besides, you shot it on a 4x5, and that makes it really tight. I also live how you teach your tutorials; they are very informative. About your F4 crew; I love the chemistry you guys have together. All I see is lasting friendships. Peace my friend, and keep on shooting.
The shots at 15:10 and 15:40 are fantastic. I have some forestland of my own down in Oregon that’s kind of similar, but with a lot more brush which makes it really hard for me to find any compositions. I do have some good vine maples though so this is giving me ideas, if I go there when it’s foggy.
Ok, so I have watched this vlog and... there is a town near Paris, called Sèvres. There are prototypes of kilogram and meter stored. I think they should put this episode there, as a prototype of the landscape photography vlog ;) absolutely brilliant photos, footage and you chose right music again. If it would not take 16h flight for me to get to Canada, I would already be there. Thanks for sharing. Happy New year!
Would be great to see you team up with Simon Baxter: your expertise on light and his on composition would probably create the best possible woodland photography videos on earth! Great video with some really nice drone flights and very beautiful images!
Wonderful!!! I feel like I'm there looking at the photographs!! I live at the seashore but we have 3 state forests nearby and that seems to be where I'm drawn these days. No uniform trees...the forests appear to be dying from a variety of things. I photograph there all the time. I just can't seem to get enough and I fear in about 20 years it will all be gone. Enjoying your videos!
Thank you, Sharon! Unfortunately, your observations about forests and nature, in general, are not far from your fears. Wildlife, wildlife habit, plant life and the like are all disappearing at alarming rates. It is very concerning. Not to be a Debbie Downer I'm glad to hear that you have found local areas that you enjoy to photograph.
Thank you for responding. Government has no money in their budget and even if they did I'm sure the forests wouldn't not be a priority. When the trees are gone and there is no oxygen and pollution takes over maybe someone will wonder if they should have or could have preserved the forests and woodlands. By then it will be too late. For now I'm spending my time there and loving every moment. I would like to find local groups involved in helping to preserve the forests. I need to feel involved in an effort I feel is vital. Have a wonderful New Year.
I just found your channel not too long. You really tick all my boxes what I look for in photography. Your wallpaper images are amazing, the subtile, isolated peices of the woodland, perfect. And I do envy the areas and nature you have in your surroundings. Cheers.
Stellar again .And don't stop complaining about the conditions & frowning upon technical video or still camera issues . This furthers an effective contrast to your wonderful images . Love also your masterful mix of drone footage , stills & very tasty music . Would like to see credits on the latter .
Thanks, Peter! I can do that, the music is from a site called Epidemic Sound. Epidemic is a paid yearly subscription but they have an awesome selection of music. player.epidemicsound.com
I have only just found your videos and am enjoying them very much. This one is full of lovely images with great atmosphere. That is a wonderful looking forest, there is nothing like it in South East England where I live so I am quite envious. Thanks for the videos and all the tips, I shall continue to catch up on all the ones I have missed.
I know what you mean regarding light first - without it you haven't got an image, but my take is that if you're lucky enough to have found good light and go seeking a strong subject and composition, by the time you're ready to press the shutter button the light may have gone - in this video everything changes so rapidly. I'm firmly in the "find your composition then wait for the light" camp. If it doesn't come, return another day - as you always demonstrate, perseverance is key :) (BTW, sorry for being so late to the party!)
For sure, finding a composition and waiting for the light is a good way to go, however sometimes the light might be the composition itself and can be hard to predict, shadows, fill light, spot light and so on.
I continue to benefit from your insights for photographing in the forests. I have not been back for a few years, but I am sure I can do so much better than I have eve done before. The arching Vine Maples worked very well to me, especially the first one. The best of the set. Your image at the beginning, it is no surprise that it is one of your best selling prints. Absolutely stunning. I must add that your video footage is on par with your photography. A perfect balance.
Great to hear Glen. The video has definitely been a big learning curve. Fundamentally video seems to be not much unlike photography, good light and composition seem to be key. The hard part is the editing and keeping the story moving. Right now, keeping everything basic seems to work for me and as I learn more about the craft can start adding some more advanced videography along with advanced editing. I must admit it has been a lot of fun and I think that helps tremendously if it wasn't fun it would probably show through. Happy New Year!
Thanks, Michael! I really wanted to have someone walking beneath the drone as I panned up but alas I was all alone, haha. Thanks again and happy shooting for 2018. Cheers!
Wonderful drone footage and the music carried me right along and into the images. I particularly like the back-lit shots with the curved trees. Intriguing shapes and (yes) light that keep me looking. Cheers and Happy New Year.
You excelled with your drone, music, FX and editing. Loved the shot after the wallpaper. Always great to watch. Have a very merry Christmas time and happy New year.
Merry Christmas Adam. I think this is my favorite video of all. The images are stunning, each and every one. Your video work is rapidly becoming some of the best and most cinematic of any I have seen. Brilliant stuff Adam. Happy New Year!
And a happy new year, James! Good to hear. Videography is relatively new to me, editing definitely so. It has been a bit of a learning curve but I am starting to get the hang of it. Lots still to learn but it's all great fun.
Beautiful & busy but thats the depth of Forest biome and fav @13.18 with natures creative spiderlings , and love the transition into 13.19 (p.s how did you do the "sweep across cinematic move" Adam? ) and poignant dark delicious photo @ 20.20... thank you for sharing (newby to photography).
I love the bright green moss wrapping and draping off the trees - it's like Dr. Seuss decorated in there for St. Patrick's Day (same with Olympic National Park in Washington state). Very informative video, Mr. Gibbs. Looks like it would be difficult not to take an interesting photo at that location, but your emphasis on the way the backlight brings out the shapes and textures is spot on, resulting in many lush, evocative images. Also: What you call "wallpaper" photos I just call detail shots - they help tremendously in telling a more complete story of a location. Thanks for posting and happy travels in 2018. Cheers!
Yes and no. Yes it's beautiful there... No its not easy to make images work in those locations! You could not possibly expect to be there when the light and atmospheric mist come together at once. These last but a few moments... That's the tyranny and joy of location photography!
Fantastic vlog Adam What an enjoyable 20 minutes watching your latest clip. Time for you to get a hot cup of tea and relax. Well deserved. Merry Christmas
I’ve been catching up on your videos Adam. Man I’ve gotta tell you your production quality is so amazing. The videography is spot on and of course great images. Seems like a productive day. I did a video on the HOH rainforest. Kind of reminded me of the location. There’s also a grove in Shenandoah National Park that reminded me a lot of the intro area you were in. Anyways cheers and well done sir.
It was a great day, way better than I had expected. I love the Hoh rainforest although it has been some time since my last visit. The Olympics is an amazing spot. I'll have to check your video out, thanks, Diego!
A man should never have a excuse to wear wellies :), Cracking video again mate, Drone footage is something else !!! Merry Christmas and a happy new year Adam Great advise on the subject of light etc
Happy Holidays Adam. The opening video was fabulous. Of the two images you requested feedback about, I personally like the second, Beams of Light. The arched moss trees pulled me through the composition to the light beams. In the first image, Misty Vine Maples, the first arched maple on the left (intersecting the right side of the frame), seemed to stop me from traversing through the image to the background. But I suppose if it was not there, the image would be out of balance to the left. But that's just an opinion. Others may love it.
Adam, these videos are all such a pleasure to watch. The combination of cinematic footage and eye-catching images is quite calming. I especially appreciate the focus on the art of landscape photography and how you approach it yourself. Cheers!
Absolutely fantastic video as always Adam! I enjoyed it while on the stair climber at the gym. I really liked the light beam shot, and the other photos were very strong as well.
Wonderful video Adam, love the wall papershot. I really enjoy it when you show your settings in your videos. It would be nice if you explained which lens your using and why. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Thanks for the suggestion Bruce. I'll try to give some more details about the whys. Usually it has more to do with what happens to be at hand at the time, haha.Cheers!
Beautiful! Yes, it is all about the light as your images demonstrate so remarkably. Thank you for this excellent and inspiring video. Great production quality, too!
Thankfully I found your channel through Heaton and Fototripper. I love a photography channel about photography and not gear reviews. It may not stoke the youtube algorithms as much but it stokes my interest.
Terrific work, Adam. There are two sections of woodland not too far from my home that have me coming back again and again. And certainly the quality of light just changes them up in ways that makes them entirely different experiences over time. When its on its on, when its off its just a walk in the woods.
Thanks so much for the effort you put into producing your content, the production of them is as inspiring to watch as the content you share. Your drone work is amazing. Keep it up!!! Cheers.
Fabulous opening comments by the Ravens! Your videography is really starting to rival your photography. I think it shows how much work and thought you put into it.
Hi Adam. First off, great hat. I spent some time on your website the other day. Really impressive portfolio. Your separation of specific colors within images is fantastic. Keep up the great work. Dave
Haha thanks, Dave! my partner has been knitting the hats for me, my new signature. Thanks for stopping by my website. My old site desperately needs updating and the newer one to be finished, still, lots of images to look at that's for sure. Cheers and happy new year.
I’ve just discovered your channel, and it is so inspirational and I am grateful you are on the planet! Thank you for your thoughtful process and sharing your creativity.
I liked the shot at 15:45 a lot. Particularly the light rays coming through. Finding a composition in the woods is difficult for me. Seems I just can't pick out a strong focal point. Sometime, I'd like to hear more about how you go about that. Is there some sort of recipe you look for or is it just more of a feeling you get? It is interesting that you look for the light first. Robert Rodriguez says that as well. Great video.
Forest are very hard to photograph but I do find it easier if you have some light to work with, then you can compose an image around the light rather than the subject. In the case of the light rays I used the light rays to dictate my composition, so I searched the area to find some trees that would compliment the rays, in this case, a copup[le of arching maples. Hope this makes sense.
Adam Gibbs hey man. Thanks for reaching out. Where you flying to? Well I adore snowdonia as you have everything within reach. Great road access too. Beach mountains woods! I’ll meet you there for a drone lesson haha! 😊👍🏻
The maple shot certainly has a lot going on, but woodlands do. The way you have separated the light and shadow as well as colour on individual components saves the image from being a sea of green and for me, it works well but then I like woodland so maybe a bit biased
Just found your channel, have to say I love your style as a videographer! Your photography is very Inspiring coupled with beautiful images. Subscribed!
Awesome video. I love your emphasis on light. It is something I think that I have neglected in my own recent venture into photography, and probably a big reason why I never seem quite content with the images I get. Thanks for advice and the videos.
Beautiful images! You have made me think l need to be much more patient when l visit a place & wait for the light. Very calming video with that music & scenery. Can you send some of that moisture to Australia where we are already experiencing very early season fires, areas running out of water totally & reportedly we are heading to a summer from hell. 😢
Fantastic video Adam. The video sequences are superb, and I especially like the Wallpaper images at the end. The light streaming through from behind and lighting up the mossy lichen tress just made them for me.
Thank you, Neil!
That toadstool behind Adam around 7:00 would have been a great subject with the trees in the background.
man, I hope you realize just how fortunate you are to be able to live near a place so beautiful. There isn't anything even remotely as beautiful as that forest you're in near me. These images look like they're out of a fairy tale

Fantastic images and location!
Oooh, I love those drone footage in the woods... well done again Adam!
Happy Christmas & new year

The "busy" shot @15:35 was a clear favorite for me.
Also glad to see that people are starting to find your awesome channel!
Thanks, bkspicture!
I really love the arching mossy trees in particular. Not too busy at all.
Thanks, Patrick!
Another wonderful and inspiring video. Nice images as well.
Some of the most incredible woodland images I've ever seen. Fantastic work Adam
Many thanks!

Thank you Brenda! There are some fantastic woodlands in the UK, have you checked out Simon Baxters channel? Different for sure but very appealing.
I know what you mean regarding light first - without it you haven't got an image, but my take is that if you're lucky enough to have found good light and go seeking a strong subject and composition, by the time you're ready to press the shutter button the light may have gone - in this video everything changes so rapidly. Thank you for the beautiful images Adam. There was a tranquil feeling to them, yet at the same time, not... Very interesting emotionally. Love it !!!
Thanks for the feedback Frank! very much appreciated.
That Intro, WOW! Could be the start of a Hollywood Movie
Thanks, Michael! I really wanted to have someone walking beneath the drone as I panned up but alas I was all alone, haha. Thanks again and happy shooting for 2018. Cheers!
another outstanding video of class photography in an inspiring location.....making it all come together; that's what it is all about.
Cheers, Steve! Happy New Year!
Wonderful drone footage and the music carried me right along and into the images. I particularly like the back-lit shots with the curved trees. Intriguing shapes and (yes) light that keep me looking. Cheers and Happy New Year.

Great video Adam and excellent compositions. Beautiful photos of the woodlands, keep up the great work!
Good to hear, thanks, Richard!
You excelled with your drone, music, FX and editing. Loved the shot after the wallpaper.
Always great to watch. Have a very merry Christmas time and happy New year.
Happy New year to you also. Thanks!
I do like your work. Wish you A Merry Christmas
Thanks, Joseph! Happy holidays to you also.
All the images have been great, but my favorite ones are the hanging moss on the bent over trees in the mist. They are just superb compositions.
Hi Adam, just found your channel now. Really enjoyed the vid and looking forward to seeing more. Subscribed👌
Good to hear, thanks, Noel!
Incredible video. Amazing drone work, amazing photography a great soundtrack and sound advice. Awesome thanks!
Amazing and Incredible video :)👍👌👏😍😍😍😍👏👏👏👏Thank you so much for your sharing this video and good words !!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Smashing images Adam!
Thanks, Adam!
Love those aerial shots and the music. Looks like you got a lot of really interesting photos as well. Hope you're doing well!
Doing well, thanks Dustin! I really dig the drone, lots of fun to use for sure.
Adam, nice shots, my favourites was #4 and the one with the sunbeams, think that was # 6 are both gorgeous images!
Good to hear, thanks for the feedback!
Great as always. If you ever have a local exhibition make sure you let us know so we can see some of your art on walls.
In April I'l have a booth at Art Vancouver. The exhibit will be under the sails. Cheers!
To me it looks like an underwater kelp forest.
Beautiful work , Adam
A busy image but with the fog still in the background it works for me!!! Great
Cheers, Paul! I appreciate the feedback.
I truly enjoyed the landscape video work in this edition. Thanks and keep it coming. Cheers, G
Cheers, Gregory!
Great shots Adam! You’re absolutely right about catching the right light. Thanks for sharing and happy Holidays!
Happy holidays to youas well Jani, thank you!

Time for you to get a hot cup of tea and relax. Well deserved.
Merry Christmas
Haha, thanks, Clemens! Can never drink enough tea. ;-)
Absolutely fantastic images Adam!
Thanks, Mike!
Incredible! What a fantastic work. Please create a video on the editing of the trees. Well done.
I’ve been catching up on your videos Adam. Man I’ve gotta tell you your production quality is so amazing. The videography is spot on and of course great images. Seems like a productive day. Merry Christmas and a happy new year Adam
Great advise on the subject of light etc
Thanks, Nathan! Merry Christmas to you as well!
What an incredible place to shoot....wow..lots and lots of potential compositions. Great video. thank you.
Beautiful images!! I loved the ones of the moss covered maples curving over....
nice photos and post processing, enjoy all the locations you shoot. keep up the good work
Thanks, Clint!
Happy holidays, Gary! Thanks so much for the feedback, much appreciated.

Treat to watch those images just fantastic.
Absolute stunner Adam.
What a joy to watch your vlogs.
Merry Christmas
Thank you, Mar! Merry Christmas!
Also, woodland photography is so so hard! I don't know how you always manage to spot so many awesome images - well I do know :) Keep it up.
Thanks, Dave!
Absolutely fantastic video as always Adam! I enjoyed it while on the stair climber at the gym. I really liked the light beam shot, and the other photos were very strong as well.
Ben Horne I was literally doing the same thing 😆 another great, peaceful vlog!
Thanks so much Ben! That's something I should be doing, some sort of exercise instead of stuffing my face, haha. Cheers!
Beautiful!
Wonderful video Adam, love the wall papershot. I really enjoy it when you show your settings in your videos. It would be nice if you explained which lens your using and why. Looking forward to more of your videos.

I'm just really glad you found a spot for your tea. I was getting really anxious .....
Wonderful as always Adam, loved the opening sequence.
Thanks, Peter! im getting better with the drone, haha. haven't crashed it too many times.
Really enjoyed that. The drone footage at the start of the video is fantastic.
Jaw dropping work! Love your channel, you're a humble guy and very talented.
Cheers, Anton, very much appreciated!
Your footage is absolutely stunning 👍🏻 very impressive
Thankfully I found your channel through Heaton and Fototripper. I love a photography channel about photography and not gear reviews. It may not stoke the youtube algorithms as much but it stokes my interest.
Lovely work Adam, the backlighting on the mossy trees was beautiful 👍
Thanks, Kevin!
I love your videos, the "B" roll just seems so cinematic!
Terrific work, Adam. There are two sections of woodland not too far from my home that have me coming back again and again. And certainly the quality of light just changes them up in ways that makes them entirely different experiences over time. When its on its on, when its off its just a walk in the woods.
Great presentation and wonderful images.
Thank you Andy!
Loving your cinematic work and your photos. Two thumbs up..
Thanks so much for the effort you put into producing your content, the production of them is as inspiring to watch as the content you share. Your drone work is amazing. Keep it up!!! Cheers.
Lovely images Adam. I hope you have an enjoyable festive season and a happy, healthy and successful New Year.
Cheers, Trevor! here's to an awesome 2018!

Merry Christmas Adam!
Merry Christmas to you as well Mandy! thank you!
Cheers and happy new year.
well, here are two awesome people in one spot! Keep doing what you're both doing! Great content.
Great stuff Adam, you scored some lovely images, thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Darren!
I’ve just discovered your channel, and it is so inspirational and I am grateful you are on the planet! Thank you for your thoughtful process and sharing your creativity.
I absolutely love your B-roll. Have you considered making a video showing the behind the scenes of how you make your B-roll.
Epic as always mate. Really stunning shots and footage 👏🏻
Cheers, Gareth! I'll be over to the UK on the 10th May, If you only had a few days to visit where would you go?
Adam Gibbs hey man. Thanks for reaching out. Where you flying to? Well I adore snowdonia as you have everything within reach. Great road access too. Beach mountains woods! I’ll meet you there for a drone lesson haha! 😊👍🏻
The maple shot certainly has a lot going on, but woodlands do. The way you have separated the light and shadow as well as colour on individual components saves the image from being a sea of green and for me, it works well but then I like woodland so maybe a bit biased
Works for me stunning as always
Thanks, Andrew!
Just found your channel, have to say I love your style as a videographer! Your photography is very Inspiring coupled with beautiful images. Subscribed!
Thanks, Ginger!
Brilliant video adam👍🏻 very sound advice, I totally agree. And I really like the wallpaper shot
Thanks again Ninja man. You've been putting up some stellar work up lately on IG, keep it up.
Adam Gibbs Thankyou adam👍🏻
Great Adam. Just subscribed to your channel. Really enjoyed this one and look forward to viewing others.
Thank you, Miguel!
Inspiring and beautiful, merry christmas Adam.
Cheers, David! Merry Christmas to you as well.
Awesome video. I love your emphasis on light. It is something I think that I have neglected in my own recent venture into photography, and probably a big reason why I never seem quite content with the images I get. Thanks for advice and the videos.
What an intro - my god!! Fabulous!!
Incredible place and you have presented it very well. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Tony!
Sorry to hear. I just had a couple of guys visit from Canberra telling me about the hot weather, not fun.
@@QuietLightPhoto Adam, we are lucky where we live, it is still green and not suffering fires but some areas are in very dire straits in NSW.
Wow, fantastic in every way, subscribed!
