- Episode 4 and we continue our ride around the Isle of Skye and unfortunately hit a road closure with air ambulance on the road ahead tending a biker who ran off road. Met a belgium couple doing the NC500 and ride some of the best roads we have ever ridden on the run home. Also manage to send the drone up to give a beautiful aerial view of Loch Ness.
As in Episode 3 I have included the GPX file for you to download and amend to your liking if you wish to use it and enjoy these epic roads.

Oh Dear, how could "One of your lot" dare to have the audacity to rain on that American's parade, then add insult to injury by the three of you trying to ride to the head of the queue. I think he needs a holiday to get over his holiday. Hope the biker is on the mend. Great entertainment as usual, I hope you all thoroughly enjoyed your trip and I look forward to the next installment 👍
Cheers Grey Wolf Yeah he did my head in a bit as bikers always filter when possible, wasn't gonna listen to him ha ha like the "he needs a holiday to get over his holiday" line LOL
Brilliant Steve you are an inspiration thanks for your hard work. Mal and Francine finnigan
Thanks for that pleased you enjoyed it
Great video Steve, and a reminder to us all that it’s never too much to be careful out there. Safe rides everyone. 👍
Yep your so right Nelio ride safe my friend.
The video and the chuckle made me wish I was there. Excellent footage as usual. Stay safe.
Thanks David appreciate that
cracking two parter that Steve, hope the "one of your lot"(shakes head in disgust) makes a full recovery. A87 & A82 are fantastic roads. onto the next one mate
Cheers Bazza yeah the yank did do my head in but was not gonna stop me filtering. we did search everywhere we could to find out if the rider was ok but found nothing which we thought was a good thing.
Fantastic video Steve. Sad to hear about the biker crashing, hopefully he makes a speedy and full recovery. Also, I agree that the west coast of Scotland is stunning, some truly amazing views.
Thanks guys appreciate the comment and pleased you enjoyed it
I like how you brushed the yank off. lol
Did my head in Russell ha ha

Thanks as always Peter/Fev pleased you enjoyed it my friend.
Fantastic video Steve and I see you like my favourite road in Scotland which is the A87 from Lochgarry to the Kyle of Lochalsh. I've been heading up there form Scunthorpe up to four times a year from 2011 until 2021 staying at a campsite at Ashaig on Skye. I hope the rider made a good recovery.
My god that road is simply one of the best ever my friend could ride it every day. Made for bikers fella ride safe.
Great that Steve Epic ride ..that yank was in a rite mood..hope rider is ok🤞..by the way wot mek ar them jeans ya got look comfy ...ATB Ride Safe 👍👍

Outstanding Steve well done to all three of you. A great watch.
Pleased you enjoyed Raymond
great to watch only wise i had more time on skye when we was there in june
That's when we were there in June Andy and agree it does need more exploring than riding loop in a day mate
Another excellent video Steve, brought back a lot of memories, will have to watch my videos again lol. Looking forward to your next ride out, stay safe my mate.
Cheers Mark that's the beauty of having vids you can look back at your memories any time
Unfortunate start and a great finish 👍
Thanks Alan we checked about the rider everywhere we could and found nothing which we took as a good thing.
What an amazing video. Hope the biker recovers soon. Stunning scenery of my hometown of Scotland. You have done us proud. Thank you.
Thanks Adele really appreciate that so pleased you enjoyed it.
Fingers crossed 🤞 that he or she is ok and on the mend.
What an adventure for you guys shame the weather wasn’t a little kinder to you but well worth the 300 miles by the looks of it👍 hoping it’s not to bad tomorrow when we’ll be on Skye for the day🤞.
Keep up the good work Steve can’t wait for the next one.
You'll love it Deano hope you get the weather my friend. we did search everywhere we could to find out if the rider was ok but found nothing which we thought was a good thing.

The completion of the Skye ride and after 323 miles, I bet you slept well. Amazing scenery and roads which looked ideal for biking. Not heard anything about the injured biker, fingers crossed.👍
Thanks for watching John long day but one of the best. we did search everywhere we could to find out if the rider was ok but found nothing which we thought was a good thing.
Another good video and another good ride around Scotland.
I totally agree Steve, Scotland has some fantastic roads.
Hope the biker is recovering.
Cheers George tried to find out about biker down later that day but could find nothing which actually we thought was a good thing.
Great video as always Steve. Always so good to watch, great editing, nice and relaxing, amazing views and great banter too! I love riding Scotland, I'm a bit closer, from near Carlisle. If you are fortunate with the weather there's nowhere better. Also don't forget Southern Scotland, the Borders and Dumfries and Galloway. Simon Weir loves that area too. Amazing roads and views. Ride safe! 👍
Thanks Don still loads of exploring for us to do your right my friend.
Brilliant video as usual Steve .I've been to Skye brilliant scenery hope rider was okay !!!
Thanks Tam we checked about the rider everywhere we could and found nothing which we took as a good thing.
Rode the A887 onto the A87 for the first time tonight. Amazing roads and stunning scenery. Staying at Kintail Lodge Hotel on Loch Duich anyone passing, worth a look for accommodation, and not Skye prices.
Great road ain't it Jock and thanks for the digs tip my friend.
Great video on great roads, you're right about the A87 and the A877, brilliant ride they are. The whole of Scotland gives you a smile on your face. Let's hope that rider was OK, as paramedics who also ride, it's our biggest dread going to a biker down job.
Wow didn't know you were paramedics full respect to you, tried to find out about biker down later that day but could find nothing which actually we thought was a good thing.
Steve any where you guys go, I really enjoy it. And thank you for the Drone shots.🏍🏍👍👍😁😁
Always like taking you along Joesph and thanks for the Drone comment my friend.
As always Steve fantastic video, the A87 is up there with the best, fingers crossed for the downed biker..
It certainly is Henry and tried to find out about biker down later that day but could find nothing which actually we thought was a good thing.
That was some impressive milage for a day 323 well done. Now you know why Paul McCartney kept banging on about the Mull of Kintyre .
Was a long day Alan but as we say one of the best ever rode, wonderful roads and scenery all the way my friend.
Thanks Steve, that is one for my bucket list, I'm in Fort William next month so I might extend my visit to take that one in. ATB Big Dave
If nothing else Big Dave ride the A87 its amazing my friend.
Hats off to Muzzy and Dec for covering that kind of mileage in a day on their bkes and having to be ready to ride out the next day...it can't be as 'easy' as on a RT... (I'd have needed a day to recover! 😆) Probably the only downside to staying in one location....you have to ride back...Although loading soft luggage on a bike in pouring rain in the morning is no fun either...🙂 For all that the 'ride back' to the campsite looked like it was the best road of the trip so far.
The ride back on the A87 is an amazing road Paul and yeah they did do well to do that mileage but riding the next day hmmm we'll see next week lol. thanks for watching fella.
@@Steve-Clark I think I'd probably be better off catching a flight and hiring a bike, as it's a long motorway haul from the West Mids on a Honda 500 and would probably add a week to the trip just getting there and back! 🙂
Top draw bro, roads, scenery, dronage, info, what more d'you want from a vid, your one of the best out there Steve,,,;-)
Ride Safe Mr B \m/
High praise fully appreciated Mr B pleased you enjoy them my friend.
hi Steve, fantastic video and scenery , family's thoughts are with the biker down ,see you in the next one old Dave,
Cheers Old Dave tried to find out about biker down later that day but could find nothing which actually we thought was a good thing.
Loch Ness also holds more fresh water than England and Wales combined
I did not know that William thanks another interesting fact I will use in the future.
How dare you que jump !! Americans will be blocking your blogs haha . Great footage as usual , haste ye back Steve !
Cheers John yank did my head in lol
Enjoyed seeing a part of Scotland I've never ridden before although I've had many a cuppa at the Eilean Donan Castle cafe (usually drying out)
Never good to see a fellow biker down, hope he was OK. That American was a bit of a prat as you filtered up. I guess in some states of the US you cannot filter but he needs to take a chil pil and enjoy Scotland.
Think we have all "Dried out" in Scotland Richard at some point lol we checked about the rider everywhere we could and found nothing which we took as a good thing. And yeah the yank was a prat first class lol
Hope the biker is OK - that american really didn't want you to go past him hahahaha. Great video again Steve ta.
Yeah he did my head in a bit as bikers always filter when possible, wasn't gonna listen to him ha ha
Great video as usual Steve, keep ‘em coming…only got 11 more days before my GS arrives! 5 years off bikes so can’t wait, back to Scotland in 2 weeks
Wow getting excited for you Jon safe travels my friend and most of all ENJOY !!!!
@@Steve-Clark Going up to Nairn (from Ferriby) so similar trip to yours, haven’t been up there since 2017 so looking forward to it.
@@jonaskwith5001 just up road from us lads your gonna have a blast Jon keep it shiny side up my friend
its been another shit of a summer up here Steve, 40 50 mph winds every single day, 5 calm days in 8 weeks, one biker wife crashed on a straight road with what seemed to be hypothermia in early July with a blasting cold artic air stream, she was ok
Wow thats incredible Fred but just shows what extreme conditions can do.
@@Steve-Clark ill post the vid here if i can find it ,

Cracking video mate and really hope that biker was OK 🤞 Done Scotland a number of times and the best one was on my own as you can do what you want too when you want too. Stay safe all and keep bikeing 🤣
Cheers Richard I can ride in a group or solo never bothers me either. In fact next episode I do on my own and tried to find out about biker down later that day but could find nothing which actually we thought was a good thing.
@@Steve-Clark yes I really hope he or she is OK 🤞
Great vlog Steve , hope the rider is ok 🙏 , never nice to see a fellow biker down , I think the American guy thought he was back home in the USA where in certain states you cannot filter by law , glad you ignored him and cracked on , thanks for sharing bud , safe riding 👍🏻
Cheers Dale we did search everywhere we could to find out if the rider was ok but found nothing which we thought was a good thing. thanks for watching my friend.
Really beautiful country Scotland not been there for few years trying to get lads to agree on a trip in September we will definitely be using some of your routes Steve they are really good 👍 we followed your Welsh one you did alone and really enjoyed it .keep safe and shiny side up lads
That Welsh one I think you mean the Snowdonia discovery route was amazing Scaff. And pleased that hopefully you try some of these routes too my friend.
@@Steve-Clark that’s the one Steve we had great weather for it to 👍
@@scaff3450 brilliant 😀
canny believe you didn't see Nessy thought everyone had seen it or maybe its just for us scots that has that privilege lol, try wearing a kilt next time to confuse her, another great video
Wouldn't fancy a kilt on a motorbike Keith lol
@@Steve-Clark A bit drafty and play havoc with the aerodynamics lol
Heading there in about a week from Australia, doing a Magellan tour. Great to get an insight to where we'll be riding. Would be interested in your audio video setup, seems to work a treat. Cheers
You'll love it Nick. I just have a standard Drift mic but have it clipped behind my Sena 20S mic (COMS) which is a bit bigger and cuts wind noise mostly (unless its very high wind as in this video ha ha )
One thing I noticed riding all over Scotland last week... Scotland has been invaded by the Dutch! :)
Yes I noticed that Max but hey we ride our bikes in Holland eh. ride safe mate
Such a shame the visibility when you were riding around Skye was so poor. With sunshine and blue skies it is stunning. You'll have to go back :@).
A Dutchman who doesn't speak English is a rare thing. I thought the Dutch spoke good English from watching all our TV?
Yes Alex a great excuse to return my friend. 👍
Excellent again Steve.
Don't think I could have shown your restraint at that American.Did you get any feedback on the condition of the rider who came off?
Really enjoyed parts 1 and 2.
Europe is 9 days away so the count down is on.The 500 is definitely on my list now.
Safe riding mate.
Wow hope you get the weather for Europe fella, we did search everywhere we could to find out if the rider was ok but found nothing which we thought was a good thing.
Agree mate,no news is good news looking forward to your next post
Thanks Steve well worth the wait for part two another great video full of info and scenery. Cheers. Just one other thing what sat nav do you use?
Cheers Robert pleased you enjoyed it fella and in answer to your question the sat nav is the navigator 6 had to buy that one as the RT has a purpose built mount for that model. Nav 5's fit as well.
@@Steve-Clark ok cheers
Love the videos Steve, keep em coming👍,what tank bag are you using on the rt and does it cause any issues with the handlebars on full lock.?
Cheers Craig and I use SW Motech tank bags of which I have 3 different sizes. All fit the same tank ring. This one was the Daypack version and the ring clip below that fits to the tank ring is adjustable forwards and backwards for you to set it so as not to interfere with handlebars, hope that helps.
@@Steve-Clark thanks for that Steve, very helpful, didn't realise they moved back and forth, what a great idea, got myself a new 1250 rt a couple of months ago love it,
All the best 👍
@@craigconway7906 nice bike ride safe my friend
Great video again mate.
Just nit picking but,
The largest lake by volume in the UK is Loch Ness, Scotland at 7.30km3. Loch Ness contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined! The largest lake by surface area in the UK is Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland at 38,000 ha. Lough Erne (Upper) in Northern Ireland is 10,950 ha.
Get yir arse in gear and do more vids.
Ha ha cheers for that Andy episode 5 is out now and the last one to follow next saturday my friend.
Great video Steve , But i think Loch Lomond is the biggest Loch not Loch Ness , hope the biker was OK
Loch Ness is the largest by Volume Loch Lomond by land Mass
@@norriemasson4080 I stand corrected 👍
Thanks Norrie that's what I meant the volume wise but Craig you also are right in respect of Land mass then. ride safe my friend.
Hi Steve, I am thinking of touring Scotland but I'm put off by the stories of midges. I have watched your videos of Scotland but you never mention the midges. Is it as bad as people say?
Hi Greg we have now been touring Scotland 4 out of the last 5 yrs and have only been bothered by midges once which was near a reservoir we stopped to look at and got swarmed by them. But apart from that no probs at all, a tip I was given was to spray yourself with "Avon's Skin so Soft" as a midges deterrent. But someone said ingredients have changed in it now so look into that.
It Defo is NOT as bad as folk say and it's the best place to ride a bike in the UK bar none. Hope that helps my friend.
@@Steve-Clark Thanks Steve for your reply. I will give it a go
Loch ness doesn't have a greater capacity than all other Scottish lochs added together. There are over 30'000 Scottish fresh water lochs . Loch Ness has a greater capacity than all English and Welsh lakes added together. The biggest Loch by surface area is Loch lomond, the deepest is Loch morar and the greatest capacity is Loch Ness at about 7 cu kms.
Another very factual comment thanks Steve, I got that one wrong then, I was also told that Loch Ness could fit the population of the world ten times over which also takes some believing. Thanks for watching my friend.
loved it mate pity about the biker down not good at all weather not too bad either arsehole the guy who says one of yours ??????
Yeah mate the yank did do my head in a bit but was not gonna let him stop me filtering. we did search everywhere we could to find out if the rider was ok but found nothing which we thought was a good thing.
