    Put a piece of shrink wrap around the end or nozzle of the oil gun to create an seal to the lifter oil hole so it pumps up much faster

    Graphic difference between the Fueling lifter and the factory lifter. Very interesting

    All you have to do is put the lifter in a can of oil, put the push rod into the lifter socket and push it up and down and the lifter pumps up; done it with car engine lifters over the years, always works.

    That’s not why the engine chatters. It chatters because of the bolt that goes through rocker, it has play

    A tip from an old drag racer...
    On a street engine we don't use "short travel" lifters... Of coarse we use short travel lifters in a Race Bike... Because we are reving 7,000 rpm.
    And if you miss a gear rpm. Engine rpm. Will go way past the rpm. Limit... In that case, the lifters could pump up and bring your valves to hit each other... It's a Hemi, remember...
    That's why they make a short travel lifter... On the street engine this is unnessasary...
    And it will give you the ability to snug up on them, if you're chasing a noise...

    Old video I know but I would pump the lifter over a small, clean container to catch the new oil so it can be put back into the can. Why waste good oil?

    they don't tell you about measuring the lifter bore to the lifter. please read your manual for this procedure. also the pin that holds the lifter in place. there more to it. than what they are telling you.

    Hi so the lifters that you just took out of this 124 motor,, are those the same stock lifters they use in the Twin Cam 88 Motors, & so on? I guess my question is are all stock Harley-Davidson lifters the same ones they use in all Motors, I'm going to be replacing my hydro tensioner shoes with the Screamin Eagle upgrade kit, and I was told I also need to replace the tappets,, and they just recommended the stock Harley tappets so I'm wondering if all Harley tappets are the same,, thank you so much for explaining directionality of the lifters.. great vid. What oil are you using to prime the tappets? My 2013 FLHX is at 50k miles and I plan to replace cams, tappets, bearings and tensioners this winter. Looking at S&S .550EZ start. Any tips or tricks you care to share?

  • @CarlosGarcia-ls4hn

    Can you please explain why the tappets need to be "pumped up" with oil, but during the adjustment of the push rods, you have to let the tappets bleed down. Isn't that just letting the oil seep out that you just pumped in? I am trying to make some sense of that in my mind. Thx.

    How difficult should it be to push down the center of a lifter that has oil in it ?
    I jave brand new lifters for my 1998 evo. I oumped them up with oil as you guys have in the video. While holding a lifter in one hand, with my other hand, i can push the center of the lifter down with the push rod. It doesnt take much pressure. Definitely way less pressure than a valve spring.. this doesnt seem right to me. Should I be able to do this ? Shouldnt it basically feel like im pressing against something solid ?

    • @stalehunter
      @stalehunter 3 роки тому

      if your engine is running at 45 pounds of oil pressure you would not be able to do that. but with no pressure on the lifter, yea easy peasy to push it down.

    Just curious how does a roller rocker do such a phenomenal job? All the roller does is perhaps create less friction. That's it.but truly another thing to break.

    Hay guys, I just installed Fueling cam plate chain drive pump lifters ,TP rockers. Crain htc 300-2 cams, S&S quick push rods, adjusted 3.3 turns re adjusted 3.5, 3.75, 4, and back to 3 turns. nothing makes much difference it is vary noisy. the only thing I did not as you do is bleed my lifters the way you do I soaked them for a few days in oil. and thought that would work we have done it that way always for our cars with no problems. I'm wondering if this could possibly be what is causing the top end rattle. I would think they would bleed out themselves by now. (this 300-2 is only 505 lift is it possible its just a bad combo?)

    • @yohon1550
      @yohon1550 8 років тому

      To sharp of cam profile is what I have decided is the problem. I have roller rockers and the guys tell me that they are always going to rattle some. I did buy and install a set of woods lifters it did help but it was a lot of money and not a cure, I would not do it again. If you do try them mine worked best at 4 turns.

    • @georgecowboydearing6526
      @georgecowboydearing6526 8 років тому

      I'm running a .625 lift s&s cam so I'm guessing it's my problem as well.. so 4 turns works best then? I'm running crane cams roller rockers and I will give that 4 turns a try because 2nd 1/4 don't seem good and 3and 1/4 seemed a lot better so 4 it is lol thanks for the reply

    • @yohon1550
      @yohon1550 8 років тому

      you can try it and it may help but I tried 4 turns with stock and fueling hp lifters and it did not help. the only reason I did 4 turns on the woods lifters was because woods instructions say to.

      Which is ironic because if they stopped coming up with whatever poo they throw at their fancy computers and payed attention to us. The ones doing rad shit. They’d make SO much more Money. Granted they do the “baddest bike on the showroom. But there is so much that could be done and they’d kill. Rather than flounder as they currently die.

    Just bought some new harley lifters from a dealer. My original lifters that came out of my bike , the oil hole is opposite the flats on the lifter. The new ones the oil hole is on the same side of the flats , just like the ones they are showing in this video. That changes the hole 180 degrees. So , instead of the oil hole facing either toward the moter , or away from the motor, it is going to face either forward to the front of the bike, or to the back. Does anyone know the correct direction? This is also going to have the oil galley come into play. The oil hole will be setting on the oil galley if turned in its direction. Will this impede the lifter from being pumped up?
    Look at the lifter hes holding, it is going to have to face forward , or bacwards. Any advice out there.
    PS. the lifters at the end of the vidoe are like my original lifters, oil hole opposite the flat.

      Just look at a small block Chevy with standard lifters can be installed in any position, the camshaft rotation causes the lifters to rotate when the engine runs, the movement of the lifter in the lifter bore along with oil pressure from the oil gallery in the engine block, supplied by oil pump, that is the basic operation of the hydraulic lifter.

    lifter port on the out side is below port on the inside, `inside piston has a port just aboive port on the out side the piston on the inside with the valving is pused down and oil under pressure gos into the center piston and thru the one way valve at the bottom of inside piston . so when you pushin g oil thru the outside inlet port you just pushing oil thru the tight clearance because that port on the out side will be practilyshut closed untill you push the inside piston down just a little thats why when doing priming lifters you sumerge them then pump them from the top. .put oil in a 1 inch pvc pipe cap it bottom and pump the piston and you dont have oil all over the place youll see the bubbles come out the top. yea and auto lifters are not the same specs as harley lifters .auto lifters run high pressure HD run on lower psi
