I love that we are getting to a place where it's not all or nothing, just people trying, messing up, learning and trying again. I feel like it's so much healthier and more welcoming, let's change the algorithm and promote this attitude.
I've been thinking about selling off my unused stuff lately and the idea of making it a once a month habit instead of a monumental decluttering is so relieving and helpful!! I get stuck on big tasks like that and overwhelmed to the point that I just cry and never get anything done. But once a month as a habit? Absolutely achievable!! Love it!!
Love the honesty and agree that there is a pressure to be "perfect" at being sustainable but it's just not really possible - we can only strive to do better and keep learning and growing with others - while being able to appreciate & enjoy life
Gonna share with y’all my latest Low Impact Project: “Stainless Steel Re-usable Cutlery Place-settings for 500”!! Yikes… I think I have bit off more than I can chew with this project. My school uses disposable plastic cutlery for everything… including the Christmas Dinner & Dance, Pancake Breakfasts, cafeteria lunches, etc. The waste is alarming!! I can no longer turn a blind eye… so I am thrifting 500 knives, forks, and spoons… AND I live in the remote wilderness of northern 🇨🇦 which makes this project all that much more challenging!! So I have set-up a network of friends and family all over the province who have joined the project. I love the communal goal… it is giving me the drive to stick with this project. Immy, your content also gives me drive!!!!!! Thanks so much for all the knowledge, support, and inspo that you have provided for folks all over the world, including me! 🌎💦Ⓜ️ary💕. PS - this video has reminded me that I need to sell my childhood sewing machine. Stay tuned for cutlery updates (if anybody’s interested??) 🥄🍴🥄
Yes give us updates! Are you making a video? Cause I'd definitely watch that :) I'm a teacher in kindergarten and we have a similar situation it mind blowing how this can happen in 2022...
@@rosie.bear. Yes, Rosie… the waste in the school system is horrifying!! Worse yet, using single-use plastic and disposable items in schools does not set a good example for our students!! Sorry to say that I will not be making a video, simply because I am not a very tech savvy person. But if it’s OK with Immy, I can give the occasional update here in the comments. I have to say that, right now, the “Cutlery Collection” is looking like a fairly ambitious project, but I’ve got ‘er started and that’s the main thing. I had forgotten how heavy cutlery is!!!! 🤣 Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it. Ⓜ️ary🥄🍴🥄🍴🥄🍴
Can you do a video of 5 things you do that are not sustainable and how it makes you feel and why it is worth it. Also, what about it is not sustainable. 💜
I'm trying to bring my own bags to the grocery store, buy the ugly or alone produce, become more self aware about my values and boundaries through journaling and meditation, find non wasteful hobbies like gardening and hiking, using all of what I have before I buy more, composting, and contacting businesses and the government about how they could improve for their costumers and the world.
I'm a single person who is conscious of her toliet paper usage and I fortunately only have to buy a box of WGAC toliet paper every 12-15 months! highly recommended!
Hooray, I’ve been using Who Gives a Crap for at least a couple of years. It was a “relief” during the pandemic shortage! The shipping boxes are so fun too…thanking the delivery people etc. Using tp made from recycled paper is good for one’s soul.!
sometimes i don't know how much i really know something until i start explaining it to someone else. we can learn by teaching! keep doing what you do immy, you are an inspiration :D 💕
unrelated but I have bought new speakers and their sound is so good that the bird in the last part of your video had me stopping the video because I thought that I had a bird trapped in my appartement. I also agree, the minimalist movement told us to get rid of everything which ended up making some of us to be quite wasteful. If you have the capacity and/or the mind space to keep things for just in case or for special occasion, it can be a very good thing too :)
I love who gives a crap toilet paper. I bought a 48 pack when the pandemic started and I still have rolls left. I highly recommend it especially for people who live alone because you won’t have to think about buying toilet paper for like, what is this two years now? And counting. And it’s so soft. I’ve been trying to buy more produce that’s grown locally, but not farmers market locally because I’m broke but grown in the USA. I can’t find stuff all the time but the effort is more of a conscious effort now instead of just grabbing and going. Along with that eating seasonally which doesn’t really limit with me where I live because our growing season is long af
would so love a whole wardrobe video, maybe even going through the different seasonal collections of clothing you have! especially cool to hear the rationale from a minimalist perspective on why certain items make the cut.
it's interesting to know your thoughts on selling things you're not sure you'll use again. I struggle with this, especially as a young person who moves every year or so. I have a bunch of stuff I may need in a different apartment (organizational stuff, extra furniture etc) and I'm hesitant to get rid of it because I would hate to sell it, only to have to rebuy it in a year when I move. Same goes for things like fancy clothes I might need for a wedding or funeral if the occasion ever arises. For me I don't think the money or space gained from getting rid or something is worth the hassle or additional cost if I ever need to rebuy it (used or not).
I love this video, so easy to watch and so honest without any pressure to be this or that way. Thank you very much. And also, I LOVE Who Gives A Crap :) Been a customer for years now and I'm never going back to anything else.
Really like hearing about the habits that are still a work in progress. With every new change, there's always a period of figuring it out. But as you said, that doesn't always fit the algorithm.
"I have a microphone that I defenitely need to sell" Me, looking over at my old smart phone that is already sitting in its box with the charger and leaflets: well shit -.-
Just watched this video today and I agree with everyone: it's really nice to listen you being so honest and open about your journey. And I believe you should share what feels right for you. I'm sure your community here will embrace it. "You can't do all the good the world needs, but the world need all the that you can do". And you do plenty Immy! Ps: I believe teaching and inspiring the younger generations is one of the most sustainable and powerfull things we can do!
So nice to hear that we are oj just doing our best. It is hard to chand hard to be sustainable in our world. I am trying and I am trying to teach my kiddos this as well
Thank you so so much for this video Immy. It really made me reexamine my own sustainable habits and I finally bit the bullet and signed up for Who Gives a Crap and shared it with my friends and family! I also took a new look at some of my items I was going to get rid of and thought about how to reuse or recycle them properly. I appreciate all of your videos so much!
So I know that this isn't necessarily your type of platform but if you could ne day give a video describing more examples of ways to get the children involved that would be awesome. I feel that I jave learned so much and I think I would be farther along this journey if I had learned more growing up.
Would love a video on the things you do in your local community I really want to do something to give back but I never know where to start I used to volunteer but a lot of the programs got disbanded during covid and haven't come back.
Love this video and your nephew is so cute helping you out! I'm about to move into a one bedroom apartment on my own. So have been researching all the ways I can have the lowest impact. Having watched your videos for some time I feel like I'm at a good place to know what will work for me and I'm super excited to see how it all turns out for myself!
I love this video! Thank you for sharing, I think it is so incredibly exciting to be apart of a community that is learning how to do better. 🍄 knowledge is power, & conversion is key 🥰
Hi Toni-Lee… I 💜 your comment, and I’m with ya all the way on the empowering feelings one gets from being a part of this community. It’s so motivating to know that others have similar thoughts and intentions to save the planet and improve our individual lives whilst doing so. Thanks for sharing and have a great day. Ⓜ️ary
I appreciate this video. It's important not to show a "perfect" zero-waste lifestyle because it's almost impossible living in the world we do. I'm curious about the things you're doing in your community. If they relate to topics on your channel, I'd be interested in a video that promotes and gently persuades people to get involved in their communities. I'm renting, so I sometimes feel like it's not worth getting involved if I don't plan to stay here for long.
I enjoy your videos 😁 I learn and apply what I can and I’m happy for the things I can do to be more environmentally sustainable ❤️ I’ll never be perfect but I can do what I can that was better than what I used to do ❤️

Setting my family up with subscriptions is literally the best idea.
I am so enjoying showing my granddaughter all about plants and growing food!

amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it really helps add more perspectives for those also looking into it!! xx

I have some subscription services...mine are through SMOL for dishwasher tablets and laundry pods.
Such a cute nephew❤
I love her new habit of including them in her garden...I definitely don't share my sustainable stuff to my nieces and nephews enough
@@eddisianc8639 Same 🥰 - I don't have nieces and nephews but young kids instead.

Thank you for this lovely video, I picked up some nettle this weekend and will experiment with it :-)
Gardening also brings people together.

Hi! Been watching your videos for a while and wanted to let you know that your voice is very soothing.
Right? I wish she would narrate some audiobooks
Great messy fun for the nephews!
