We found a far better garlic salt was made by blending fresh garlic scape puree with the salt. The salt/puree mix was then dehydrated, and then re-blended to break up the clumps. The garlic infused the salt so it never separated and made a very uniform product.

I do it this way with herbs then dehydrate the whole lot, like you say. The flavour seems much better.

I've been growing garlic for years, and my scapes have always gone to waste. After watching this video, I had to try it for myself. Such an easy process, I made my first batch, and will continue to make more. I used my Magic Bullet to grind, worked wonderfully! Thanks for all your awesome videos!

Vitamix blender is worth every penny - I tried a number of different ones including the ninja and the oster and honestly nothing compares. I grilled the guy doing the demo at Costco before I bought it and I’m sooo glad I did - he was super informative and convinced me. And he was right - I love it.

We really don’t eat a lot of garlic in my house, but we probably should because I know it is good for you. Maybe next year I will try and plant a few. I did however harvest half of my onions the other day and dehydrated the greens and turned it into powder. Last year I also dehydrated the greens off the carrots and even when I had so much lettuce that wasn’t getting eaten. Turned all into powder so I can use to flavor foods and it didn’t go to waste. I also did that to some of my green peppers. Wonderful to add the green pepper flavor!

I cringed when I saw your poor blender 😕!
I highly recommend getting a Vitamix! I got mine at Costco and I love it! It’s well worth the money. It’s more like an investment, because you’ll never need to replace it.
We just moved onto our acre about a year ago and we can’t wait to get the garden areas leveled and raised beds made. Since watching your videos, I’m saving all the glass jars from “store bought” sauces and and such, so I can dry all my favorite herbs!
    You’re an inspiration!

My all time favorite way to use garlic scapes is tossing them with olive oil, s&p and then grilling them. I serve them with a homemade lemon pepper aioli.

Thermomix is by far the best for making powders and I’m certain you’ll find a tone of other uses for it. No blender or food processor holds up to it. No manual pushing down, stirring or shaking!
The second thing I highly recommend you look into is a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer. Retired at 40 and Betty’s harvest right freeze drying group are two UA-cam channels /fb groups to check out.
I am mad about herbs with my freeze dryer and your videos have encouraged me with out of the box ideas. I loved your big cook up day - love to see more of them! Aluminum foil trays leak alum into your food which isn’t good for one’s health though. Any ideas on how you could do a big cook up and avoid them?
Love your garden! We are off to buy black poly and do the same today!

You are so inspiring! I have to dust off my dehydrator now lol. I wish I had more garden space. My 1.5 acres has so many oak trees and not level. I was able to get in a couple of garden beds this year which I’m thankful for but to have as many as you I would be in heaven. Great channel Becky!! Oh and I just made your apple cinnamon oatmeal bake the other day. The family LOVED IT!! And oh oh I made your homemade brown sugar too. BONUS!!
