This song is about two men sharing a glass of wine as they remember their life of sin and luxury. They made a blood pact with Maphistopheles, an agent of Satan, That they would have more "meat and drink" in their lives. Giving up heavenly knowledge for worldly and carnal. They are eternally damned in exchange.

A man (Dr. Faustus) signs a deal with Mephistophilis (who is an messenger of Lucifer) to have 24 years on earth with Mephistophilis as his personal servent. The deal was signed with his own blood, hence the line about the blood on the yellowing scroll. You should read the play if you're not able to see it, the song does a very good job of condensing the story, but it's so much more than is in this song
