Even though I agree with Irving, I'm actually re-listening a lot of their songs, and paying close attention to their lyrics, because I've started studying English. You can say whatever you want, but Dani knows his language.
Some would attach snark or sarcasm to that but I promise it wouldn't have hurt at all it would have nothing else expanded your vocabulary and comprehension
actually the story of giles de rais is a good paralel to the story of countess bathory. very little is actually known about their crimes, except for second hand accounts and church records
Yes to both of you. If you watch the actual video or read the pamphlet that comes with the CD "Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder" This entire album is about Giles De Rais falling away from the church and getting deep into black magicks and eventually consorting with the devil at the loss of Joan of Arc.
This song was the best song of the night. Caught me off guard how amazing and powerful the duet truly is ☺ See these guys live....... if you haven't already
Yes, this is the turn for the album and Rais himself. It was after the burning of Jeanne that Gille de Rais began his descent. Gilles de Rais' supposed love for Jeanne and his inability to cope with her loss was implied to be the cause of his downward spiral into financial crisis, the occult, murder, and depravity. That may be a romantic dramatization of the events surrounding Rais, but rationalizing his acts is natural, and grief is a powerful impetus of change.
Truth ..at every word and point ... grief is the impetus for wars worship and many acts and changes people never for the better grief is the spiritual shit sammich we all must eat some may take a bite and share your grief but the sammich is ultimately yours alone to eat...sad yes...true...that too

This song keeps getting stuck in my head all day, it's so catchy they should put this song on one of the Pop Music radio stations, I mean most Pop is just repetitive catchy lyrics designed to get stuck in your head so you'll buy it and make whoever wrote it a 1-hit wonder, so I say hearing a song that's catchy and actually good, will do Pop fans some good.
I guess some people can't handle how dark these guys are. It's only for people with great ears and who aren't pussy's! Lol. Like you said One Direction lol!
Well the song is from the album Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder. By the time the album was recorded the female vocal in the band is Sarah Jezebel Deva, but I am not 100% sure that in this song she is singing but it is probably her.
this song is about jana darc and a captain called gilles de rais, who loved her very much more than live and when jana was burn on the fire, gilles became mad and started stealing children from villages and gilles gave his soul to satan.after that people blamed him for killing about 140 children and also burn him on the fire
Dani's scream reminds me the vampires. Such an amazing voice. Style. Love this band all the time. I grown up with this band's songs. SO FUCKING GOOD MAN 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️

Forgive me for sounding like an idiot but I'm having trouble figuring out what the meaning of the song is, is it about joan of arc, is it a about a tail in the bible, what is this song? I'd really like to know.
It's an album about Gilles De Rais, once a war hero for France, handsome, noble, faithful follower of Joan of Arc. He became one of the most infamous child killers and rapists after her death. The romanticized reason and myth is that, besides his infatuation with Prelatti, who became his master in dark arts, is that Joan's death broke him.
Not quite. I know this is a really old comment so sorry to bring it up. The album is more about Gilles de Rais but yes he was a companion in arms to Joan of Ark and also a professed serial killer of children.
Help me find the right song... one of the Cradle of Filth songs has a really innocent and cute section in, with violin or harps... I've only heard it once from someone, but I can't find it! What was its name?
Nymphetamine Overdose...not fix or jezebel diva mix...it's hella heavy then really dark heavy gothy but pretty too...then heav again repeating the first part...pretty fucking epic in scope
I like how this band's lyrics became slightly easier to understand. Their earlier stuff is impossible to follow unless you're reading along.
But its good in both cases.
Dani got better at singing . Helped his throat and us the listener .
“Love never dies a natural death.
It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source.
It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals.
It dies of illness and wounds;
it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings...”

Wow...
Love is a fake concept INVENTED BY MAN. Love is just a small part of Lust... but soon... soon ALL WILL SEE LOVE DIE!
I can go that far saying that LOVE (as humans know it) makes you a weak entity!
In what we do... Pleasure is only a small percentage... like in that song... 10% Luck; 20% Skill; 15% Concentrated Power of Will; 5% Pleasure; 50% Pain... and 100% reason to REMEMBER THE NAME

Never really listened to cradle of filth because I wasn't into the gothic shit but this just ripped my soul out my body
Completely wrong. Gothic is post punk, rock goth, ethereal, darkwave...
When you are too clingy and your love is crippling. You need to embrace the death of love
the woman has a very lovely voice . gotta say it though
How happy I was when I played this song it's been years and now I realize how powerful the lyrics are. Cradle of filth ladies and gentlemen.
The start of this song is probably the most beautiful description of being burned at the stake that I've seen.
That last part... so many chills ran through me
They should play this during History Class when involving Joan of Arc.. put some respect on that name.
As birdman says "pu some spec on it"

Respek*
Agreed but the Board of Education would never allow it.
Or in criminal psychology for Gilles de rais, or how that was reported during the day, considering the catholic state. 🙃
i like this music , this is slow metal
Is it just me or would you want Dani Filth to write an epic battle for a movie?
with danis lyrics and amazing grasp on the english language he would probably be able to produce some epic movies, personally id like a good novel.

This song is about Joan of arks lover, after watching her burn at the stake he went insane and murdered a bunch of people
Well i'm 99% sure it is about Joan of Arc
It's about a close friend of hers, Gilles de Rais and his descent into madness as a result of her death.
Gilles de Rais, the man the album was about, was in love with her. Look him up! You might like it.
