I also had the feeling of not pulling much water during my stroke, and as you point out relaxing helped a great deal.

Short, focused, great angles to show the technique, and clear vocal audio. Your videos are one of the best on swimming.

Excellent advise on slippage. But, maybe putting some kind of indicator on the demo portions that indicate correct vs incorrect examples? Sometimes you repeat the examples while you are summarizing, and there is no correlation.

Thanks for this video coach Mandy. I've always felt more tiredness in my right arm than my left arm after a few laps (I breathe to the right side). This tiredness in my right arm causes me to be unable to hold good form after a few laps. I suspect i may be pulling too hard from my right shoulder when i breathe.

When I swim I do tend to find that it's easier to turn and breathe and I feel more fluid when I don't pull back with the leading hand until the other hand is parallel to it.

I was doing the wrong demo last year. Breathing was hard and labored. I wasn’t moving as should be in water. My pulling arm dropped down. I no long do the wrong form now.

You really need to familiarize yourself with the gallop style of freestyle. It is an uneven cadence stroke, which you are kind of doing when showing how to do it 'wrong'. Again, this is how Katie Ledecky swims, but not ARiarne Titmus. It is also how all of the men swim. When swimming freestyle, your hand and arm always move through the water faster than your body does. This is kind of a physics 101 thing. Your body mass is far more than your arm mass, and unless your arm is moving faster than your body, you will go extremely slow through the water. This is much more apparent when doing sprints.

I tried this. If I slow my tempo I can keep my arm from slipping . But i have a swimming race next month and i want to increase my temp and speed. Any tips for that?

I'd love to see Mandy's answer on that too. When I'm being fast, I have the issue of my left arm dropping too soon (it's like I do not let the arm extend). So I'm wondering how can you be fast and at the same time keep the balance with arm preventing it dropping too soon?
