    Thank you. After giving up years ago, I am trying again to learn to swim. These videos are so helpful. And why are commenters worried about her make up. Obviously, when making a video that people will watch over and over, one might want to look her best.

    Drill no.4 single balance breath that's the most important and toughest, if you master it you can swim longer and faster without gasping for air.
    Thanks for the video.

    I did 6 of these drills yesterday and they helped so much while being fun at the same time (I did feel sore the rest of the day so maybe it was too much fun 😂). I was finally able to move a significant distance while kicking. The improvement on the overall freestyle won't happen overnight BUT this helped tremendously to improve body position awareness and it gave me tools to check each individual component of the technique. THANK YOU!

    The problem with many beginners swimming techniques is bad training. Many start with a friend teaching them the dog style. Where you simply famble in water ..mixing short free pulls..hands wide apart ..head above water while doing frog kicks. Once one is able to float with this mixed tech it is hard to learn the basics.. one finds it hard yo do proper techniques and refuses to learn.
    In my experience it is easier to train one who cannot swim at all than one with these mixed motions.
    With free style..start with leg strokes.. master the leg strokes ..then learn the arm pulls...then learn body rotations then breathe.
    All these can be learned in two sessions. Provided the student is good at listening

    Thank you Chloe for the video! I was stuck with leg sinking for the longest time, until I tried the drill #4 and I finally figured out which core muscle to use to keep the feet up. In addition it corrected my bad habit of pushing my hand down to breath. I swim so much more efficient now. :) By the way drill #1 still seems impossible to me...

     I tried "Drill #1: Floating" I give myself an F minus. I tried it with lungs full & lungs post exhalation. With lungs full, the legs sink a little faster-- they cut a hole through the water, down through which the rest of me slides.

For me at least it is extremely hard to do, my legs are sinking so much. I will surely do the drills you are recommending to do and see what happen! Have a pleasant day.

    The thing with the float is thogh, not everyone can do this.
    Men have a disadvantage. I for example have strong and heavy legs, and I can engage my core as much as I wont, there is no floating for me.
    The only way to stay up is by kicking.

    • @rajeshr6511
      @rajeshr6511 9 місяців тому

      I suggest trying to practice floating (staying still) by gently holding on to the hand rail (that runs along the pool). Lower your head, facing the pool floor, this should raise your legs above the water, bringing your body into the floating position.
      I am also male with a muscular body and heavy legs, the above technique helped me.

    Subscribed....and what I'd like to understand more is ankle flexibility vs forward propulsion with kick only. As an Ironman I can swim but I get almost no propulsion from my kick even though I feel like I'm doing the same kick with my legs! :-(
