  • In this video, the second part of the Practicum, I offer a set of seven (7) exercises aimed at developing your ability to thrive in Knight vs. Pawn endgames [i.e. one side has a knight and/or pawn(s), the other side has only pawn(s)]. In Part I, you took the side of the pawns; now, the shoe is on the other foot, and you will be solving from the POV of the side with the knight and/or pawn(s). Each carefully-selected exercise is drawn from a real-life game, and together, the exercises and meticulously-presented solutions - are aimed at helping you cement and expand your understanding of the key concepts, ideas, theoretical positions, and nuances that undergird knight v. pawn endgames.

    The quality of these videos are insane for something that he just gives out for free. I really think Danya is the greatest modern ambassador for chess in the world.

    Knights are so hypnotic man. They are almost always synonymous with beauty in chess. It amazes me how GMs just know how to maneuver their knights to the right squares so elegantly as though they were another straight line piece like the bishop. I'm sure knight endgame studying affords them that ability. Gotta take endgames more seriously.

    I really enjoyed this endgame videos as always -- they're both highly educational and interesting.
    I think you should split the video up if they're this long even if it may increase clutter, since a random viewer is probably going to daunted at seeing an hour and a half long video about endgames. I also enjoy these more when watching in multiple sessions.

  • @violetasuklevska9074
    @violetasuklevska9074 2 дні тому

    27:45 Kd8 is a sloppy move. After g5 hxg6 black can start with h5 to win a tempo, Kf8 instead makes the game 'close' by forcing you to take on g6 immediately and calculate. However, black can win a different way after Kf8 there's Nc5 attacking b7 and looking to fork on d7, b8=N is forced, but this is obviously a losing move, with how badly white's pieces are placed nothing is stopping the h-pawn, g5 wins and Ne6+ wins and it's not even close.

    • @violetasuklevska9074
      @violetasuklevska9074 2 дні тому

      After Kf8, g5 is better for a different reason hxg6 Kxg6 Ke7 h5 Kd6 Kf5 Kc6 Ke6 Kb6 Nb8 Kc7 Nd7. This wins much faster since you keep your knight and don't have to deal with a queen against b-pawn endgame or deal with a white knight.

    1.5hr video drops and 10 minutes later, we already have people praising Danya as the best teacher. I agree he's great (I watch almost every vid), but something feels off about posting comments like that before watching the video. I feel like the chess community of any would respect proving quality of content by seeing it played out on the board over just spamming opinions. You never know, perhaps 30 minutes in he could start accusing young chess stars of cheating, and offering levy $200K chess camps to guaranteed earn grandmaster title. I've seen stranger things happen in the chess community...well, at least as strange.
