huh? Stockfish 15 browser sees +5 instantly on Qg6, hence it's called a blunder by the game analysis (depth 14) also, I have seen moves that the engine doesn't realize are best until depth 30, but I am definitely not better than Danya.
Besides sacrificing The Rook I feel like this is the ultimate demonstration of why the bishop pair is so dominant in an open end game. Despite the king being very vulnerable in the corner the Bishops were able to cover back rank multiple times while still fulfilling other jobs.

The most incredible combo in the history of this channel. The truly amazing aspect is the coincidence of the two bishops guarding the f1/c1 back rank! A beauty!

The longer videos are great, and I hope you do a series at this higher level as you're able to demonstrate positional play in ways that are relevant to all levels and providing information about how to play in new openings that really isnt available otherwise. Loving the content!
The way people just write whatever in the chat and he takes it so seriously and is ready to spend the next 10 mins catching someone up if need be is so humble!
god that rook sac is one of those sweaty palm tactics you play with 80% confidence in low time and are just the highest highs in rapid for me, great game danya
What a treat. An hour long of free chess class by a GM, clearly demonstrating his thought process, his proposed lines, his ideas, and the final execution. Hands down Danya's the best chess teacher online. I wish they can just dock 400 rating pts from him so we can watch him play these 2200s over and over again. Restarting the speed run with him playing the 12, 1300 doesn't really help because those guys blunder too much. And kudos to this opponent ... it came down to a small difference between that black rook on the C file vs D file that ultimately made Danya's tactic worked to a charm. But also kudos to the bishop G5 idea. That was a great move. And yes, not a single second spent on the engine that tells you the answer rather than making you learn to critically analyze your game.
Thank you for this really instructional game! This is actually how I meet the Smith Morra to try to get White out of SM theory and go for an IQP structure. Most people at my level play cxd5 and then Nc3 or Bc4. I have good results against the alapin but never have had such a complicated IQP battle so it's nice to see how you handle the IQP and the bishop pair
This is the best speed run video yet and one of the best chess videos I have watched. So many pretty moments over the board and in analysis. Thank you for the great content as always!
Just wanted to say thank you daniel naroditsky sir. I was able to win my first chess tournament because of your teachings. Thank u so much sir. U are the best
You know what’s cool is that Danya was probably gonna lose this game but his instincts told him that keeping his bishop pair was paramount. Then out of nowhere they became his MVP’s. The way they ended up defending any back rank plans was slick af.
knight c3 at 3:17 response is k(b2) to d5 which forces the engagment of the knight or alternatively p(a7) to A6 to force the early engagement or withdrawl of the treatening bishop, 10:10 game ends as well had black gone bishop f6 and then taken pawn and trades

i was following with an engine (on lichess), right around when danya was thinking about the rook sac, (minute 28.10 ish) the engine said the position was -0.9. i thought (since i read the title i knew danya won) this is a cool idea but danya blundered something surely, or the engine wouldnt say its a -0.9 if he didnt blunder something. After a moment when i played the rook sacrifice danya played, the eval bar went up the roof to +6. Even the engine didnt comprehend how strong the sacrifice danya made at first!!! What a strong attacker danya is just shocking
This was my favorite Speed-run game! It was great to see David tested and explain everything along the way and of course the ending was quite nice. Love the 15 minute TC too.
This was the best example of a wining tactic coming “out of nowhere” I’ve ever seen. Black played an amazing game with no clear mistakes but then suddenly, as if chess was a solved game, it simply turns out all of danya’s pieces were in the exact squares they needed to be, not only forming a mate threat but defending against all counterplay. It turns out Black lost the moment he sat down to play danya. Amazing
Love the videos. I know you're already doing a lot to put out these videos, and I appreciate it, but just as a suggestion, I was wondering if you might consider putting the PGN or link to the game in the description? Would make it easier for viewers to analyze lines that they saw during the game. If not, no worries, appreciate the content.
Its worth pointing out again and again. The way you reason through and explaining your thoughtprocess as such an asset, when learning more about chess. And more imitaions please, thats another more hidden talent 🙂
Yeah, and another problem is that many times when Danya tries to play the Najdorf, he gets hit with "anti-sicilians" like the closed, delayed alapin, and weird Bc4. It just seems like a lot of people in the speedrun rating range don't like to play the open with white.
I actually spottet the full combination when Danya did. I dont think it's that hard to see when you realized that the White Bishop takes away the G8 escape square basically permanently an that Black has nothing to block the h-file with. Don't think it's a super hard combination to find but that doesn't make it any less beautiful and nice to have.
Great rook sac, uncanny how those bishops cover all the key squares. But it wasn't an endgame sac, it was a queenless middlegame. There is such a thing.
That tactic landed like a thunderbolt outta nowhere. Poor guy. Danya is a monster.
