Honestly, hearing that there are studies out there showing that gaming helps reduce depression brought a tear to my eye. For years I've struggled to try to explain to people the benefits I feel from playing video games, and I grew up in an era where there weren't studies proving video games make people violent, hell I can remember the creation of the ESRB. So to see this, I finally feel somewhat justified. Thank you.
For Elite Dangerous: You can Self Destruct and be transported instantly to the starting system. The problem was that the ships the new players received via certain "money trading methods" made it impossible for them to leave the system. (that is far away from any sort of civilization) Suddenly a player sees that they can only jump 2 light years and the nearest star is 7+ light years away. New players wouldn't know that you can simply explode and be "freed" from that situation minus the ship they were given and enslaved for.
I still find it very unlikely new players would fall for that... I feel it was overblown I played Elite for a day and knew exactly how to refuel and how to self destruct.

Stadia is its own platform, just like PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo are. So of course you need a separate licence to play games there. People that have invested in consoles or huge pc game libraries can always consider using Stadia as a supplementary service. Especially with games getting rediculous storage requirements, using a free service that requires no disk space or hardware investments to play pretty demanding games is great. It's definitely not for everyone, but it's weird to dismiss it just because you have to buy games for it, like you do with any platform.
@@kn03i the biggest issue with stadia is that the performance is almost always noticably worse when compared to any other platform. Why buy the stadia version that runs worse for more than buying the game on another platform that will perform better. There are some people who will find the value in stadia, but those are mostly people who dont have new consoles/updated computer and are fine with the high price

No downloads/storage, no installs/updates, no additional hardware costs, hot switching between pc/laptop/tablet/phone/pc; it's just pick up and play, anywhere, within about a minute. When it comes to high prices, I take it you're referring to game prices. I agree that game prices can be steep, but they do offer regular discounts, which more often than not match sales prices on other platforms. The major issue I have with Stadia is the library that's still seriously lacking. Stadia as a complementary service to the platforms you already own is great, if only for the sake of pure convenience. I've gotten back into gaming because of it. Videogames are GREAT for you. In many different ways in life. I have played them all through my 90s childhood and never stopped. Just sit down with a kid and figure out a game together. That's ALL it takes. And when my best friend, my father passed a little while ago. Videogames kept us playing together, solving together. Loving our time together. It was something we always connected on.

So I can speak to the Canadian prison system PlayStation memory card debacle. Originally you could buy PlayStations and memory cards no problem. But the admin staff became afraid of USB/SD memory with bad stuff on them. (Even though there wasn't much and it was not a real security problem, anyway.) And instead of training the staff to be able to tell the difference (like you could...), they retroactively banned the cards and tried to confiscate all of them (many were hidden, though...). Not the PlayStations or game CDs, just the memory cards. And now you have no way to save, because it's the old systems with no internal hard drive or anything. Dick move, Canadian prison system. Oh, and they're still allowed in other (provincial) levels (if they were already, some never allowed the systems at all). This is just something the dolts running the federal prison system did.
One of the best ways the memory cards were hidden was wiring them up INSIDE a controller. Turns out that the save circuitry and the controller circuitry share pathways on the motherboard. And there's plenty of space inside a controller for an extra little circuit board. I wonder if the prison system ever figured this out. I doubt it.

and they werent found guilty of it, but still gave ANYONE who bought loot lamas(boxes) the vbucks, if they were part of lawsuit or not. i hate nit picking over loot boxes cause they are lame, but at least do research if youre going to put it in your video

So I can speak to the Canadian prison system PlayStation memory card debacle.
Originally you could buy PlayStations and memory cards no problem.
But the admin staff became afraid of USB/SD memory with bad stuff on them.
(Even though there wasn't much and it was not a real security problem, anyway.)
And instead of training the staff to be able to tell the difference (like you could...), they retroactively banned the cards and tried to confiscate all of them (many were hidden, though...).
Not the PlayStations or game CDs, just the memory cards.
And now you have no way to save, because it's the old systems with no internal hard drive or anything.
Dick move, Canadian prison system.
Oh, and they're still allowed in other (provincial) levels (if they were already, some never allowed the systems at all).
This is just something the dolts running the federal prison system did.
Its because it was illegal here and there for there to have the memory cards. They approved them but //couldnt// due to policy
One of the best ways the memory cards were hidden was wiring them up INSIDE a controller.
Turns out that the save circuitry and the controller circuitry share pathways on the motherboard.
And there's plenty of space inside a controller for an extra little circuit board.
I wonder if the prison system ever figured this out.
I doubt it.

I want to note as a person from Illinois that it would ban any game that has any form of violence while it does depict a lot of things from GTA it pretty much hits every game that isn't animal crossing or Tetris.
