I maintain a twist-out for weeks by using this "scrunchie" method. I usually can do the "scrunchie" method for three days in a row before having to re-twist! (Perfect for my lazy days!) Also, it helps to elongate the hair!
Hope it Helps!

You never know how much hair you have until you try to twist it.......
@@cooliipie maybe because she has big lips and what's with those emojis.

I am so glad you say "OUR HAIR" in your videos. I feel like such an outcast with my curly hair from time to time, and it feels as if nobody talks to me when they talk about hair. Thank you for that.
You saved me from looking busted on the first day of school. Thank you
Same! 😂 We owe you Whitney
I know this is an older video but I just wanted to thank you!! After months of struggling with how to maintain my twist outs without having to re twist my hair every night, I finally got it! I will be 12 months natural this Saturday, March 7th and im super excited that I am finally getting this natural thing down. I watch all your videos all the time, but I guess the other day it clicked! I'm currently on 3rd day hair and I'm loving it! Thank you so much! You are truly my hair inspiration!
aaaaaw lil natural85 sounding like a teenager. You have changed so much!
imgrownforreal she's grown so much!

Now that my hair is a little longer, I finally gave this a try. It took me forever, and I struggled a little, but I got it down. It was literally the best twist out I've done!!! It fell perfectly with little manipulation! THANK YOU!!!
I was just about to give up on going natural until I found your videos. They gave me hope. I tried your homemade hot oil treatment and aloe vera juice and the twist-out (which I have never done before)! But this morning I wake up and my hair has never felt so soft and manageable. Thank you so much for the videos and sharing your recipes. I have a new found strength to go all the way with my natural look.

I’m 2020, worst year ever, ready for 2021!
2020
And 2021 ah good ol days
Naptural85 is the reason I went natural because she made it so easy and fun. One year after my big chop, and I love my hair...Preshrink and all.(smile) I have fine, and for now thin hair but my little girl hair is thick and strong like Naptural85 and she is enjoying just being herself with it. Because this hair journey is something that I share with my daughter it helps bring us even closer. Thank you Naptural85.
Forever Grateful,
Rachel
Girl... your twist out guidance is spot on! Nice technique, straight to the point steps. I love it! You rock!
I've always had the issues when it came to pulling apart my twist out!!! Thanks to you I no longer have that problem! Tried this last night took it down today and perfect!!! Tying to scrunchie method tonight to see how that works out. Thank you!!!
Did this and it was awesome. My twist out was so define and awesome but I did it on wet hair though. Best twist out I ever did. Thank you.
Exceptional natural hair! I've been natuarl for 4+ years and your channel is THE MOST EXCITING thing i've come across in a long time! Bless up & thank you sis :)
Love your videos. Your directions are so simple and covers all bases (what to do at night, the next morning, etc).
I love that this video is still available so many years later. I wasn’t even natural when it came out. But I’ll be doing this tonight. Thanks!
Watching this in 2019!! Been on my hair journey for about 5 months and still haven’t perfected my twist out.. had an emotional breakdown this morning then found this video!! Thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart ❤️ I can’t even begin to explain how this 7 minute video helped me out and saved my hair journey. I was ready to give up. Thank you 🙏🏿
I simply LOVE your channel. I watch video after video and learn something new each and every time. Thank you for all that you do! Such a blessing!
2 Thumbs Up! I just tried this method again, this time to wear in public, can't wait to reveal my results in the morning! It's crazy in 2010, I didn't even know that you or YT hair channels existed! Wow I'm watching in 2015 and I'm not going to say her hair was short back then but it has REALLY grown!!!!!
I have been watching this video for a year. I have always wished that my hair would do this with the maintainence and all. About two weeks ago I decided to try. And OMG MY HAIR HAS NEVER GOTTEN SO MANY COMPLIMENTS ON MY HAIR!! And I love rocking twostrand twists during the week and the awesome twistout at church!! And the twists look so good, I might rock em at church this week too. Thanks!!
🌸 just picked out my locs and I have to tell ya the old videos are just as helpful & relevant as the new ones 💃🏽 I’m a subscriber from waaaaay back in these times and I’m so grateful for you 💗💗💗💗💗
Not only is this method one I'm going to try, but I love the way you presented the video. Just jumped right in without all the annoying chitter-chatter. THANKS!
It's been five years so this is obvious, but she sounds so young in this video aww
I finally get to try this method now that my hair is a little bit longer. I'm 8mths post BC. Thanks for this video! I LOVE your daily vlogs. You have a beautiful family. God Bless!

DANG IT! I AM SO GLAD YOU POSTED THIS! I am going to try this tonight! Love the idea of adding sections of the hair as you twist so that you won't have to separate. GOT IT! GOT IT! THANK YOU!

Me
you're a complete genius! Doing your twists like this looks so much smarter! I am going to try this ASAP I hope it works for my wavy hair
It has been a year since I tried this method. When I tried this method, I became very frustrated, and my hair did not turn out right. Recently I decided to try this method again and my hair turned out so much better! It's not perfect, but in the future I will become better at it! I am definitely doing this method again. I get more definition, and it's way better than doing two strand twists.
I find that a little Eco styler gel works wonders to tame the frizz
I have never seen this method of doing two strand twist and I love your results. I am going to try this tonight!
All of your videos are excellent 😘
Cool! I've watched this several times in between trying my own twists, and I learn something new every time!
Hi! I'm 15 and I decided to go natural, I've been natural for 3 months now and I'm not very good at doing my hair to be honest but I really want to be natural and stay that way! Any advice for a teenage beginner?
Congrats! Dont worry, I've been natural for over 3 years now and im still not good at doing my hair, lol. I stick to wash and gos, they're easy and and way faster but when I was transitioning braid-outs were my best friend. I used to do about 10-12 cornrows on my head at night and then when i woke up in the morning my hair would be good to go. Now, granted it took about an hour to braid my hair up but all i had to do was tie it up at night and it could last me a few days until i had to do it again. Just make sure to properly moisturize it the first time and it'll stay soft and moist.
P.S. sorry for the long response
Thank you for the advice! (P.S.) Do I have to use a specific type of oil or grease to moisturize my hair? I've been using carrot oil...
ive been natural my 22 years of life and started doing my own hair in high school. the best advice i have is find products(shampoo and conditioner) that work for your hair and for styles trial and error works best. as for moisture always apply your oils last because any other moisture like water will evaporate by itself but oil on top the oil seals in the water. coconut and almond oil are my favorites. very moisturizing without getting to greasy
check out honestly erica's channel for washing tips, keep your hair stretched, use a leave in conditioner to maintain moisture, and learn how to do two strand twists. avoid using a comb to reduce breakage--finger detangle instead. good luck!
Thanks for the advice!!
This tutorial is great! I love that you tell us why you like flat twisting better. I wish I had seen your video before I tried. I also love that you explain how to do the flat twist in detail. I can not do my own hair well and this definitely helps. Thanks!
Now if I could just learn how to part first...lol. Yeah that's right. I'm almost 29 and don't know how to part. But I've been natural for almost 5 yrs. How I've made it this far is beyond me lol. Great video btw. Wish I could attempt it!
Lmao me too i hate parting. I can only part down the middle. Lol! You're not alone.
Lol at least you can do that. Mine looks like I did it with my feet. I just politely swing by my mom's house and let her hook me up lol.
apachette07 lol, I like that last part. She 'politely' swing down to her moms
Don't You mean you ran through the door crying "mama I need help, pls".
Hehe
You trying to throw slugs? bohakasha
No slugs here sister, just keeping to a light joke
Thanks to you, I was able to do my very first twist out 😊 And I was able to successfully trim my ends while my hair was damp! You are wonderful and thank you for taking the time out to do these tutorials!!!
love watching your older hair videos, reminds me of the stage I am at now. love all your channels.
I wore my hair this way on Monday and it was so cute. So glad it's grown and and now has some versitility. Thanks Naptural!!
This ponytail method has literally changed my nighttime routine so drastically. Never could keep my ends from matting up without retwisting all my hair. I have been doing this for a few weeks and I think I am losing less hair now. Never would have thought to twist the ponytail. Thank you!!
I did this and got lots of compliments. It's my go-to now.
I've found my length yay! I always like to match my length with yours as I notice some of your methods change as your hair grows longer so it gives me a good place to start when considering certain techniques etc.
I absolutely love how this makes your hair look!
Do you have any tips for people with fizzy hair like me, thanks. Great video BTW.
Just got done taking out my twist and I can't thank you enough for making this video! I've been natural for two years in July and this is the first twist out that I've ever been completely satisfied with...and my bf is grateful to you also (no more hours of standing in the mirror trying to figure out how to fix my disaster of a twist out) lol. Thanks again!
P.S. Your other videos have helped me get out of a puff rut...your styles are amazing and so fitting to my personality...thank you bunches!
Yay!!!! Over a million views! Congratulations! !! Keep teaching lady! ;)
I used this method last night and am happy to say, the results are awesome!!!
I just love me some you Naptural85!! Wondering if my hair will ever get that length!! Not trying to compare but just loving your hair!! Thanks for sharing your natural hair journey with all of us!!! Love you and your heart, husband and children!!! Keep on keeping on girlfriend. ALL MY LOVE!!!
I have been doing this for a year thanks to this vid and my twist outs are amazing and envied each and everytime. I have 3c/4a very thick and coarse hair.
I have 4c hair, my hair wont last for a next day lol
I love the way your hair looks. I'm gonna try this method tomorrow. Thanks for uploading!!!
Don't know how I got in this time machine just now. Look at that baby face. Lol.
this perfect is THEE BEST. I use to just two-strand twist the normal way, however adding the hair as u twist makes a GREAT difference in the volume and body of my hair, thank u thank u thank u sooooo much :)
I love this hair. I've been individually twisting my hair and it takes SO LONG!!! This seems to be a slightly easier way to do a twist out. The results are gorgeous. I hope mine will be that nice...I'll be trying it out in a few days. wish me luck!
I just finished watching your three strand flat twist out video but I have to learn how to do the two strand first. This video is very helpful. I'm going to try this method on the weekend.
8 yrs ago my hair looked like this too! Only problem is...8 yrs later my hair is still this length🙄😕
This is a great method. I was hesitant to try it for a while because I thought it would take longer than my normal twist outs, but I was able to do it in the shower right after washing my hair, let it dry for the day, and the next day I had an amazing twist out. The only downside is that the twists can't be worn as a style and the twist out doesn't last longer than 3 days. I'll try using gel to see if I can get the style to hold longer.
Watching in 2019
This is the beat twist out tutorial Ive seen. I'll be twisting when I get home.
An oldie but goodie
haha. I found my answer to my question. I just didnt catch it in the beginning. Thank you so much, God bless you and your plans to continue to help others with their hair regimen styles
i had to come back and see this for old times sake
I started getting perms at maybe the age of 9, and when I was 12 my hair started to go through a super dry phase and to knot up and fall out, and I was just so upset, so May of 2011 I cut off all of my permed hair, and now I'm natural, I've been wearing my hair in cornrows and it has really helped my hair grow. I am now 14 and my hair has gotten really long, I will be starting high school soon, and I really wanted to wear my natural hair, and you videos give the best ideas. Thanks! (:
Mario Datzit This is an older video, you can tell cause her hairs obviously longer now lmao, but its another way of doing a twist out.
SHE'S A GIRL? WOW! SHE LOOKS LIKE A 15 YR OLD. BOY...
Mario Datzit BLIND!!!!!
Indigo Child
HAHAHA! I SWEAR, IF YOU SEEN THEM? YOU'LL THINK THAT TOO.
Love this!:) thanks for sharing:)
Mario Datzit lmao y'all might be related, never know.
I remember when I first watched this video in early 2011, I was sooooo irritated because I felt like my hair would NEVER be long enough to be this cute. Now it totally is, if not longer! I hope in 2 more years I'll look at your present videos and laugh at myself too
5:38 your arm muscles though!
You have lovely tutorials...I have seen many on natural hair care and you are the first who I've seen has that coily type hair like me :)....thanks a bunch
my hair looks crazy if i even try to go 2 nights without twisting.
2021 for me! Whitney's hair is amazingly beautiful !!
Your voice sounded so much different back then lol
I noticed that too! lol
My hair is about this length, and I use the tying back method to keep my wash n gos in tact! Works perfectly and it's not flat against my head!
Great arms!!!
Right?? Those back muscles!
I am extremely hair dumb, but this was simple and I can follow it! You didn't part using a comb. I'm excited. I've subscribed to your page! Thanks for the easy to follow video and instructions!
I am no where near being able to do twist outs yet (almost 3months post BC) but I came across your videos yesterday and could not stop watching. LOVE your twist outs. Any style ideas for my itty bitty twa? Keep up these aweseome videos. Thanks
I absolutly LOVE your hair texture.
i am using this method now and i realized that on my shorter hair i have to do more twist than you did! instead of 4 twist in each section, i have to do 8! hopefully it comes out as beautifully as yours did!
OMG I TRIED THIS ON MY 4C HAIR && it turned out wonderful.! This is my new go to style && i'll put a video up of how it looks on my year natural hair!
I tried this yesterday and took out the twists this morning. It turned out great! Frizzy, yes, but I usually have frizz. Best twist out I ever had! My hair is about half her length so no ponytail for me but I will be trying this again. Took about an hour to do.
This was so helpful! Thanks so much!! This video inspired me to do that to my hair. I've been natural for 2 almost 3 years.
THANK YOU!!! I'm trying to find a great way to twist while transitioning and regaining my natural curl. I love this; really nice.
I have been using your techniques since I went natural in January 2012 I have found that the products work great for my hair but I have a drier texture more like 4c so sometimes I have to try to achieve the styles a different way...but you Nd one other natural hair page has kept me from going back to the creamy crack or cutting it off and starting over thank you very much for your channel you've helped in more ways than u know
Watched your video a few times (like 8 times) and just tried your bantu knotting. Can't wait to see if I did it right :)
I have been watching your videos and you are such an inspirational blessing to me! Love your hair!!!!!
I tried the bantu and love it. your videos are very helpful.
Your posting always easy to follow and well presented. Thank you.
Wow! Love your twisting technique! Can't wait to try it!! Thanks for sharing.
Tried twistout this weekend, it worked! I had a time gathering sections, but if I keep doing it, it will become easier. My hair is shorter and I used two scrunchies. Sprayed my hair with aloe Vera and used my Shea blend and my detangler brush.
The next day just it did look just as good, sprayed lightly w/jojobo, grapeseed & rosemary water and finger styled in place. Thanks, looks better than the simple twist method!
Your hair appears to be very similar to mine. I have viewed many of your hair vids and I think that your methods will work well for me. Thank you so much!!!
You're brilliant! I've been growing y natural hair underneath braids for almost a year now so I'm just starting to learn how to play with it and all of my twist outs so far have failed because I can never separate the curls without destroying them. lolz now I don't have to worry about that! I'm definitely gonna give your method a try.
Great video, I've seen a lot of these videos but yours helped me the most.
this twisting method is pure genius!
this is so smart........ you're a life saver I have been having problems with my twist outs going totally wrong since I started doing twist outs I will definitely try this thank you soooo much for this EXTREMLY helpful and informative video ;)
HI! I just cut the rest of my relaxed ends the day before yesterday! Yaeee!!!! Totally natural! I will try this tonight on my twist outs. Thanks!!! :)
