Less isolated in what they’re going through . @ I think when women get together in collaboration instead of competition, we will change the world. It’s coming.
They are probably looking at the west and seeing our baby bust and taking the opportunity to create a baby boom through rape. The whole patriarchy is concerned about women choosing to not have babies. They will inevitably force us if we don’t change the system from within. We have to.

Ex Christian here. KEEP TALKING. The world needs to hear your warnings about church abuse, blind faith, and DV. You are right. Many of your accusers are projecting. Many are covering their own misdeeds, or they are desperately trying to convince themselves that their own hell on earth is not hell. They need to wake up for their sake and others. I am low contact with some of my relatives because blind faith means more to them than a relative who asks "too many questions." Keep asking though it is important.

@wowser2153 You see this change from Christianity to for example Islam mostly for a muslinic boyfriend/husband - not just for discontent with your church. And I would be carefull if some forms of Christianity can't be severly mysogenist too. I hear several christian women complain about how right wing christian men tend to be, that they can't find a partner there because of totaly oposed value systems etc. To make a long story short: as a woman you can be very happy if you simple live your christian spirituality out alone (after all this is about Jesus and not about singing in a group) or with other women and children. But if you dont want to live under the boot of a wanabee facsist ...agnostic or atheisic husbands often are sadly a better choice. The wider socual problem independent from religiob is that there are much more lefist women than there are leftists men. So there is anyway a mismatch that will result in not every women finding a suitable partner. Based on how physical dangerous a narcistic man is beeing single in that case is the better choice.

I appreciate your honesty, your story. My beloved husband passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2021. We were best friends and everything else. I live in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. I’ve had so many negative experiences with the church including sexual assault with a bishop, judgement because I shared my feelings with another bishop. I would never go to my bishop with any problems because I know they’re not therapists. I’m on my own still figuring out my life and my future. I haven’t attended church since Covid. I stopped wearing garments years ago, they made me feel creepy. I will never attend the temple again. I’m so grateful for everything I have, everything I’ve learned. Women need to learn to be assertive and independent. Never depend on a man or “priesthood” for anything. It’s all a farce. I’m so grateful I don’t need or demand a man for anything. I’m FREE, a very good place to be. Thank you for sharing your horrendous story. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately living in Utah I’ve heard this same story so many times. Twenty or thirty years ago, I read "Secret Ceremonies", an account of a divorced Mormon woman who was excommunicated for not being meek and quiet enough about her disgust with the patriarchy she was negotiating, or her disillusionment re the temple ceremonies. The problem of patriarchal religion institutionalized into community and government is universal. Whether being good is an objective good is often suspect. I'm currently studying literature and took a course on modern Irish playwrights; you may find interesting the Irish removing the Catholic Church from their laws and social services recently after the scandals of not only sexual misconduct but also the mother and baby homes which fed orphanages. Difficult, poor, or simply inconvenient women and girls were sent away to these convent run homes and never left the involuntary labor. Child graves were discovered on grounds similar to those on reservation boarding schools in the US and Canada. Keep speaking and processing your truth.

Well told, and yours is a very positive reaction to what you have endured! The abusers want to be protected from the consequences of their crimes. The enablers don't want to hear about the role of the enablers in violence, bullying, rascim, and in unfair systems in general. The one who points out a problem is very often considered the problem-creator. She or he rocks the boat, they say. She or he should be considering how the abuser feels, etc, they say. Blaming the victim is a widespread strategy - to keep what is going on, going on - and to keep those who profit from it, keep profiting from it. We who have seen those strategies and mechanism in one context, can easily see them in another, and we can give you credit for being very credible.
I hope the time is come for a new round of "me, too!" for victims of abuse in a religious setting - and for the other contexts of abuse to be kept in the lime-light of justice and fairness. You are absolutely a forerunner, and a brave one.
I can't listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir since heard/read about all the abuse and indecency going on behind the scenes in the Mormon world. Such falsehood! Thank you for your service, for bearing witness, surviving, and resisting! You need not feel pity, be silent, nor forgive the perpetrators - right-minded people feel empathy for you, the victims.

While I do acknowledge that Islam has many of the same or worse issues with treating women badly as Christianity, I still don't understand this accusation that people "want Sharia law everywhere." First of all, Sharia law is defined by individuals and communities at the local level. It differes by location and even by individual family, as all have their own interpretation of it. Much like Chrisitans interpret certain aspects of their religion differently, some Muslums interpret Sharia more loosely and some more strictly. There is no absolute Sharia law that is practiced the same everywhere. It is literally impossible to define what it means to "want Sharia law everywhere" on a global scale because it would not look the same everywhere. That doesn't mean I agree with Sharia law; just that I don't think it means what people think it means.
Secondly, I think you raise a similar point to what Jennie raised in this video that some forms of abuse and corruption are acceptable to talk about and some aren't. Everyone is quick to call out something like Sharia law and point out its problems, but Chrisitian law in America seems to get a lot of free passes. Calling out Christian hypocrisy and Christian abuse in America tends to get one labeled as "un-American" or "too progressive." Fun fact: Christian dogma is not that different from Sharia law. It's still using religion to oppress people and justify it under the legal system; only for whatever reason, in America, it tends to get labeled as "Patriotism." Project 2025 is a perfect example of what I mean: A legal framework designed by Christians, to benefit Christians, and to force Christian ideals and values onto everyone.

the nightmare is normalizing terrible behaviors on the ground of religious beliefs. same as those back in the day, who worshipped the guy with the funny moustache.. they rationalize their hatred and normalize violence for "the greater good", and that's a very basic dynamics present in many opressive social systems historically and in the present, and it's very important that you speak out so other may recognize!

It's easier to blame women or men for domestic violence or religious trauma then look at the cause of the problem. People use cognitive distances, sorry for the misspell. When a narrative is challenged or what beliefs they hold to. Assholes don't change, they lack no insight

There are woke Misogynists, they just express their hatred for women in different wa,s.
Do you think a man that Puts on a dress and demands access to the women's changing rooms does respect women?

Victim blaming women will never solve DV. The only way to stop it is to address the root cause, which is immature male egos.

keep telling your story, it's super interesting to hear it first hand. you probably have more supporters than haters away from the church :) the trad mormons don't seem so super nice tbh :D i'm from a lineage of lutheran pastors and was never ever indoctrinated, never feld another expectation than to become a respectable person. (not raised to be a woman or man)
one thing that i learned is that those people who scream around the christian doctrine the loudest to rationalize their wrong behavior, they always claim to be the most christianist christians, ironically :D

to prevent this for happening is simple the church leaders need to follow what the bible said and teach men since they are children how to be a husband that he needs to be the preacher and the teacher in his household that he needs to race the kids for 8 hours since the child is born until the child is 25, he needs to do house shores and be emotional intelligence so he learns what God commanded to love his wife like Christ love the church and sacrifice his own ego, confort and live for his wife.

Unfortunately, a lot of therapists are not trauma informed when it comes to living in cults or being sentenced to live a certain lifestyle. They either say you are being a perpetual victim or they’re just ill equipped. It is best to fine, unfortunately they’re not very common a therapist who is informed about the inner workings of a cult or ritual type abuse..

You can't talk about workrelated trauma, I would say it even worse, I'm ex Jehovas wittness. However I was 4bu53d in several workplaces and when I needed help, because I could not understand why people did this to me sometimes I did not even understand what was happenening so I was confused. The reaction is it has to be your fault especially when it happened not only once but many times. It is a horrible situation to be in because you feel you need to talk to process but you know if people know this they will punish you further and making a living will be harder then it already is. Also I get a bit triggered when people say Narcissits are always the v1ct1m. Well I guess some of them can make themselves to be a v1ct1m however you can actually be a v1ct1m many times without having a personality disorder. We have a lot of v1ct1mblam1ng in this society.
