The riches you guys enjoy on the coast are absolutely wild. These bottles are all interesting to try. I recently picked up the Hamilton The Breezeway Blend and Uruapan Charanda Blanco.
My bottle of the Breezeway blend just got delivered. I'm intrigued to see what you think of the Charanda.
personally, i would love to see more rum haul videos. it is a helpful way of updating the audience on recently released rums that you may not have time to speak on otherwise.
Yeah, that's what really appeals to me about it. I can briefly speak on rum that I might not otherwise devote a whole video on. I only have the bandwidth to do a video a week but this way its like a bunch of videos in one.
This was pretty cool, definitely do more. Just enough peppering with short review notes to make it interesting, not just an unboxing ❤

The Flor de Caña 4 and 7 rums used to say "Aged up to 4/7 years" respectively. They have since changed their labeling and the numbers have nothing to do with age statements.
The numbers not having anything to do with age statements isn't cool either lol
Love seeing more Grand Arome stateside. It's stands out from all the other rum styles out there. Really looking forward to getting a bottle from Raising Glasses soon.
Adding just a tiny bit of Grand Arome to a classic Mai Tai really adds another layer of depth.
I hope we see more, especially from Reunion. I'll definitely have to try it in a mai tai

I’ve never heard of many of these rums. In my area (Northern Virginia-DC, MD, VA metro area). I have about 30 different bottles of rum (and, a half dozen or so each of Tequila, whiskey, and gin; as well as a couple of bottles of vodka and miscellaneous liqueurs). In Virginia, liquor/spirits are sold in state-owned ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) stores. Selection of rum and other alcoholic beverages varies by store/location. I haven’t gone booze shopping in DC or MD much (except military bases-I’m a retired military officer).
I wish distribution was a bit more equal throughout the whole country. California and New York definitely seem to get the full array of releases. I'm hoping as the category grows we'll start seeing better distribution in other markets.
I thought this format was interesting, and would absolutely watch future videos like this.

I too have been on abit of a rum buying spree. Here's my most recent (may my accountant forgive) :
Compagnie des Indes Boulet de Canon No.9. It's fat washed with BBQ grease.....Gotta try that.
Plantation Fiji 2011 bottled for Tipples of Manchester. Finished in a Marsala cask, love the stuff coming out of Fiji.
A 13 year old TDL from Chorlton Whiskey. Honestly, the label. Medieval artwork straight out of something you'd see in a monastery.
Whoa, those all sounds super intriguing. That BBQ grease, fascinating. I wish we got the Compagnie des Indes stuff here in the states. That TDL label is very cool.

My understanding is that in whiskey the age statement is always the youngest age in the blend, whereas in rum the more traditional way was the solera type statement of the oldest rums like you see on the denizen label. It's only recently that rum started adopting the more integrity way of stating the youngest age, since there's no legal requirement in most of the rum producing countries like there is in scotland.
The US does have legal requirements for all spirits to reflect the youngest spirit in the blend. Which is why that "up to x years" statement is so bewildering to me. Have yet to find anything that states how they can do to that

That's a pretty big order! You can make lots of cocktails with that lineup. maybe you should do a haul video too lol When it comes to whiskies, I'm definitely a fan of ryes as it seems you are too. I haven't fully done a deep dive because then I'd probably be broke

Great video obviously we will struggle to get some of these rums in the UK, but some very familiar names and great content.
FYI on the Agricole Blanc, as you say Clement make a 40% standard ABV Blanc with is OK but nothing special. However, they also make a 50% Blanc although it's difficult to find outside France, and I believe there is a 55% version still sold in Martinique.
Canne Bleue also comes in two versions a standard bottle (which I think is what you have) and a single vintage.
The HSE is my favourite brand of Agricole, thier standard Blanc is good, but not in the same class as the Parcilliere which is still my top Martinique blanc
I'd love to try those 50/55 expressions from Clement. I have seen bottles of the single vintage Canne Blue online, but unfortunately they're not available in the US. If I'm ever in France or Martinique, I'll have to keep an eye out on the HSE Parcilliere.
Planteray Cut and Dry Coconut is incredible if it's available in your area. We're just starting to see it trickle into stores in my Milwaukee

@@therumrevival my last big haul I did the same. Not a lot of places ship to Texas but I found Del Mesa liquors does and they have a really great selection at good prices. Shipping costs a good bit though but it’s worth it.
That Dillon label looks like its from an old can of cooking lard or chicken bouillon. It's got that old fashioned funkiness you also find on the Mellow Corn label.

Thanks for the video, Arminder! I, myself, am an amateur rum enjoyer. I like to pick up a bottle or two to try from time to time and am (unfortunately) a sucker for an interesting label/bottle design. Just picked up some Tso'ok Oaxacan Mountain Rum. Not sure if the taste is to my liking but the smell is fantastic! Do you have a video about sipping rums? I like to try many new rums but find that there are only a few that I truly enjoy. Perhaps my palate needs more experience. So far one of my current favorite rums comes from a distiller in San Diego, Malahat Spirits Co. I find their Black Tea Rum to be delicious.
I don't have a video on sipping on rums, but I think I should make one. Thanks for the idea. I think you're right, its all about getting more experience with it. Also trying a bunch of rums to see what you actually like sipping. Not every rum will be for everyone. That bottle of Tso'ok has a great looking label. I haven't tried the Black Tea rum, but I am very much intrigued.

I usually just eyeball it. Maybe a tsp of cane syrup and I usually go with a lime wedge instead of a small wheel. In terms of ice, maybe 2-3 cubes
Hse blanc is really good, in par with la favorite coeur de canne. Dillon though...is rough.

Great video format. What I've been doing with my nicer/collector rums and wines is using a collage book where I put their labels to save. I use a one-sided sticky tape.

I think this video was great. However, if you get into a crazy buying habit for the sake of video production your overall quality might drop. I have seen that with the bourbon bros on youtube. I'd rather not see rum content devolve to simply drinking for the sake of drinking. You have a lot of knowledge, you are very personable, and I think I speak for a lot of us that there's clearly a passion for rum in your content. At the end of the day, it's way more about quality than quantity. Don't make content that will cause burnout or regret.
Also that down island Ghana was so FREAKING GOOD!
I totally get what you're saying. I can see where its easy to slip into churning out content at the expense of quality. And yeah, there is definitely this balance between buying a bunch of rums and actually spending quality time with each one. Only so many hours in the day and rums you can drink at any one time.
I was disappointed by the Monymusk OP too, not my favorite as a sipper and I haven’t found a good cocktail home for it yet. It mixes OK with Ting but Worthy Park and W&N are better.
That Dillon is gonna be good, I’ve only had the 80 proof and it is veeeery briny.
Ive tried the Monymusk in a few other cocktails and it still hasn't clicked for me. Good toknow about the Dillon... I love briney rums.

Its good to have some good reviews but i hope not at the expense of your other content. I enjoy more of a deep dive review with a lot of background on the rum, distillery, bottler etc. I have recently bought some Le Galion DOK from Fine Drams, totally agree it's more drinkable than the Réunion Grand Arôme (though I enjoy both). Other new bottles include Clarendon EMB 26yr from Fine Drams (350 mL, nice) and a couple of Grenada agricoles from Renegade.
I have a couple of deep dives comin up in the coming weeks. That fine drams bottling was so good. I think I’m getting my hands on that Clarendon soon. Excited to try it!

I went to Martinique last month and bought A LOT of rhum. 4L in 2 bags of JM terroir volcanique, La Favorite Coeur de Canne 50%, La Favorite la digue 2023, La Favorite millésime 2017, Neisson L'esprit (that 70% is much more accessible that I was anticipating), Neisson Dékolaj, and Clement Single Batch Canne bleue. Took also a JM Shrubb for Mai Tai and a JM cacao bitter for Rum Old fashioned 🥳

@@therumrevival Like the "la digue" from La Favorite, it is a white rum made with cane coming from a single specific field (the field name is Clos Godinot for Dékolaj). I got to taste the Favorite one at the distillery and compare with their classic white and there was a clear difference in taste between them.

Going off the first rum (that disappointed you), did you know that Worthy Park has a new white overproof-not a replacement their famous Rum-Bar Overproof-that's made with a blend of molasses and cane juice distillate, and have you tried it yet?
Yes! I actually got to try about a half an ounce recently. I liked it! The true test will be in cocktails

FWIW I’ve seen a handful of rums that only explicitly acknowledge the “up to X years” on the BACK label rather than the front. In fact, the old Denizen label does this “lying in the front admitting on the back” thing! It’s still BS for sure; nevertheless I’m glad to see the moderate and righteous pissiness over this (ironically transparently?) disingenuous marketing move.
Other “up to X yrs” rums I’ve seen are mostly either South American (Venezuelan esp) and/or solera adjacent stuff.
Big agree on the strong preference for Canne Bleue from Clement over their standard blanc offering.
I definitely appreciate that they're now being transparent but hate how small that "up to" is on the label. like its ridiculous small lol
