Need to hand calculate gas mileage. Computer generally reads higher. Fill up, reset trip meter fill up again and divide miles driven on the trip meter by number of gallons to fill up.
I recently traded my 2012 Ram Laramie 2WD in on a lightly used 2022 Power Wagon already on 37's. I just got back from a 4 day offroading trip to New Mexico with 2 days highway driving and 2 days offroading. I got a real world 13.6 average mpg for the whole trip which I'm very happy with. I run 90 octane no-ethanol gasoline which helps with a little more power and better mileage.
I am 73 years old and have been driving trucks all my life. The average 1/2 ton pick up in the 70's with app' 150 hp would average around 10-11 mpg. The numbers your showing on a 3/4 ton CREWCAB are awesome!! Art from Ohio
Art, I'm 70 years old and couldn't agree with you more. My 2022 Power Wagon with the 392 Hemi gets better mileage than my old Chevy 1/2 ton 2WD with the 250 straight six.
This is a good call... my last 3/4 ton was a 22 cummins and a giant piece of junk. Engine issues after only 16kmiles all kinds of emissions issues since day 2 of ownership. I had a few vehicles inbetween but now I am back in a '24 Power Wagon lvl 2.
my 15' 6.7 cummins got me 437k miles in 3 years. DEF limp mode warning came on, in laramie, WY. I-80. Decided to trade it for an 18'. whoever got that 15' will love it! no issues. fluids always changed. Great experience with Ram. I'm on my 4th Ram now. it's a 6.4 HEMI. no longer doing OTR RV HAULING. Pulling my 35' TRAVEL TRAILER. ( PERSONAL USE) LOVE IT!
Thank you Jamie. I own a Police Interceptor. All info for 5.7 V-8 is 370 HP/390 ft/lb civilian AWD. Had ours measured on a dyno, at 8years old... 400+ hp, 350+ ft/lb. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you in the New Year. God Bless and stay safe.
I tow a 259d3 cat CTL with an MP bucket on a 14k tilt bed trailer right at 13,500 lbs and get 8.4 average with 2022 Ram 2500 4:10 rear 6.4 gasser 4-5 days a week

Hi. I loved my 5.9 Cummins. The 6.7 was definitely a different animal on maintenance, DEF, and fuel. I absolutely an enjoying my 6.4 Hemi setup showing in the video. I have nothing bad to say about it.
@calebsiegler5471 I’ve got 54k miles on the truck in the video. Zero issues and it has towed everything I have hooked to it. I drove a diesel since 2005 but my 2017 RAM was just stupid on the maintenance and DEF. I do not miss the diesel….just don’t. Thank for watching the video.
And then the other camp that warns heavily of lifter issues on the hemi. First “real” truck purchase for me. Coming from a $4000 2006 single cab v6 Silverado.

This is what I got pulling a trx on my powerwagon with 33’s 9 mpg once the 33’s are done am going to 35’s I wish I could have got 4.30’s or something close to that from the factory as I always buy the lowest gear for pulling even if I never pull my PW gets 10.5mpg in v8 only not towing
Considering the cummins is only 10-13 mpg towing, I'd say the hemi is a good buy. And I wonder the difference headers would make on the hemi for towing MPG.
That’s a great question. I did have a comment that the recommended octane for the 6.4 is 89 so I’m going to find out. You are correct with my 2017 2500 6.7, I got about 10mpg towing that exact trailer and tractor setup. If I towed every day then I would probably go with a Cummins but for a weekend tower, the hemi has been great.
Great video! Got the same truck and get about 8-10mph towing a surveyor legend 20 ft at 5700lb loaded for road trip. I can get 15-16 just driving around easy on the pedal. Get on the pedal and mpg is nada.. 😝
Same average mpg as my jeep but now I need something that can tow a camper. Someone told me don’t get the 4.10 because mpg numbers but most the time I’m not towing anything. Appreciate the quick info
Man I am only getiing around 11.5 empty around town on my 18 2500 6.4 Hemi 4.10 gear. Transmission was just rebuilt. But I do keep my foot in it most of the time....
I tow about 8000lbs with my 2020 2500 hemi I get 7.5 mpg! I towed the same with 2011 Ram 2500 Cummins and I got 13mpg. I miss my diesel and have been looking to add a diesel back to my business! I overall like my 2020 but wish I still had my 2011 Cummins.
There is nothing like Superior torque for Towing. A gas engine is always going to have to dig harder into the power curve under tow load, than a diesel will.
Your truck is actually getting a little better milage then it says as your tires are bigger. The computer is calculating your mpg off stock tire size. When you go bigger your Speedo reads slower. 60 is 57 etc.. so you are going further then the computer thinks your going. Now, on a 400 mile gas tank you probably only go another 30 miles total but still that is good for another 1 mpg or so. Either way nice video.
Hi. Not really sure about the Power wagon because it’s not really a heavy duty truck like a regular 2500. I did meet a guy with 37’s on his truck that was setup like mine except I have 35’s. He claimed that he used it in construction and was pulling skid steers.
Damn my 13 ram 1500 5.7 would get 10mpg towing a 34ft travel trailer now have a 13 2500 6.7L and get 18mpg city 21hwy and 14/15 towing a 16ft dual axle enclosed 15hwy.
Beautiful Truck and great review! Since it's a Laramie how come it didn't appear to have rear outboard heated seats. Covid thing or was that a different package for the Laramie?
Thanks! I still love my truck. About the seats, It’s probably a different package. They are heated and leather but that’s all. My main goal for the laramie package was to get leather seats. I also wanted the push button sliding rear window and the push button retractable side mirrors. I use close those side mirrors every time I park in town.
Great video! I just got a Night Edition like this with the 4.10s. I haven't leveled it yet, but after winter I will. We're you running 87 or 89 octane? That could be more of a break in thing though I suppose since I'm now past 4000 miles. Is that a Thuren leveling kit? Do you have rear coil spacers for towing or how do you deal with the squat?

Hi. Yes, the PW is more like a 1500 and a half in towing and payload. To answer your question, no the payload and towing doesn’t change with the leveling kit because the springs are changed on the front end not the rear.
Nice video and beautiful truck. I want to upgrade from my Ram 1500 to a 2500 Laramie with the 4.10. One thing, you should do hand calculations for your mpg. That EVIC calc is not accurate. All 3 of my Ram's have been 1 to 1.5 mpg off from the EVIC. The EVIC registers higher than the actual hand calculated mpg. I truly believe that is a feel good thing Ram does. The only accurate way to calculate is by hand. Nice to see that you know how gearing works. You made the right choice with 4.10 as your installed tires raised your ratio. The leveling of the truck also effects mpg. The 4.10 in my book is the best for all 2500's. The 3.73 is a bit high for a heavy truck. Mileage is affected as the truck has to work a bit harder to maintain speed vs a using the 4.10.
Thanks for the comments. I used the computer for consistency between different hauls but I’ve been thinking about doing almost the same video using hand calculation. I will tell that I absolutely love the truck. I really like that 6.4 engine, the leveling kit, tire size, and the 4.10 setup. The 4wd lo turns the truck into a some type of beast. A few months ago I pulled a car out of a ditch and it was like it didn’t even struggle. I like that the gas engine is lighter in the front which makes it better in muddy conditions. The diesel is so heavy, my other truck would basically sink into the mud.
@@useful.knowledge It's a beautiful truck. Exactly what I'm looking to order. My current 1500 is Billet Silver also. Great color that doesn't show dirt.
I would love to know how you are getting that MPG. I have a 2023 new, with the same rear and I am very careful on the gas pedal, yet I average 10 MPG while the truck is empty and not towing. That MPG off the veh computer, when I manually calculated it, I'm not even get 10MPG. I am highly disappointed with these trucks MPG.
Interesting that you’re only getting 10. I have gotten my worst lately due to heavy stop and go traffic because they are working on the interstate and a bridge. I’m still getting 12.9-13. I even hand calculated at 12.7. I just drove on some two and four lane roads today going over to the cabin. I got 16.4. It’s almost like your truck is missing the high gear or something. What RPM is the truck showing at 65mph? Mine is around 2000.
Rechecked my mileage this week. Had two days of the extreme stop and go traffic in the construction zones to and from work and then my normal interstate and two lane roads. Still got 14.1 on the computer.
Hi. The hemi moves the almost 10k lb tractor setup down the road nicely. The place that I notice that it’s a gasser is a very steep mountain near the hunting club. The Hemi revs up pretty high but so did the Cummins (it rev’’d high for a diesel). It’s an 8 speed tranny so when towing almost 10k lbs, it will mainly run in 6th and 7th gear. I honestly worried about going back to a gas burner after having two different diesels since 2005 but I honestly haven’t missed a beat. I especially do not miss all of the extra maintenance required on the 6.7 Cummins. When I’m not towing, this thing is actually fun to drive.
Hi. If memory serves, it was between 17-18 just everyday driving. My commute to work is some two lanes, some interstate, and some almost city. My issue with the 6.7 Cummins and I’m sure Chevy and Ford are close the same, is the amount of added maintenance compared to my 2005 5.9 Cummins. DEF, crankcase ventilation filter(every 67k), fuel filter (every 25k) and then if throws a code such as some type of DEF, you will get limped after 150 miles. That was not an option for me and with how long it takes to get parts, my truck could be sitting in Mississippi for a month while I’m back in Alabama working and renting another truck.
I’ve had it for two full years and I love my truck. I haven’t missed the diesel. The 6.4 weighs much less that the diesel up front so it’s actually better in muddy conditions. The 4wd low is incredible. I just pulled a lady out of a ditch a few days ago. It’s a great truck. I’m happy!
I'm going look if you did another video recently. Typically mpg goes up in a new vehicle after a few miles. The last two f150s I got it took between 5k and 10k miles and then I got the best mpg. 3.5L I got upper 23 mpg 2.7L I got upper 25 mpg premium at 62mph I got 28.9 mpg on a trip that had hills and drove thru 3 towns. Anyway, just curious your mpg now that you've had the truck a while. I'm also looking to get a camper in 2 years. So im in the market for a 3/4 ton gasser. Only two I'm considering is the f250 or the Ram. Pros to the f250 for me is the "hill decent control" option. I wish Ram had that. Now Ram I feel gives you more for your buck. I've built several of both trucks at their websites. Down side both manufacturers have is that you can't get a 46 or 50 gallon tank unless you go 8 foot bed. I dont need a 24' truck lol

Love your cats
They are definitely hilarious
How many miles on truck now
42k miles as of yesterday.
Wtf was ram thinking getting rid of the column shifter on the 2500 gassers 🤦♂️
I know! I weirdly miss the column shifter. I really thought it would bother me with the little rotary shift but it really doesn’t.
16 mpg is great, hell my 4Runner only gets 16.5
Cats!
And they are piled up in the house now since it’s so cold outside 😂
I fell you mad a big mistake I would never got of the diesel engine
I’ve had it for two full years and I love my truck. I haven’t missed the diesel. The 6.4 weighs much less that the diesel up front so it’s actually better in muddy conditions. The 4wd low is incredible. I just pulled a lady out of a ditch a few days ago. It’s a great truck. I’m happy!
I'm going look if you did another video recently. Typically mpg goes up in a new vehicle after a few miles. The last two f150s I got it took between 5k and 10k miles and then I got the best mpg.
3.5L I got upper 23 mpg
2.7L I got upper 25 mpg premium at 62mph I got 28.9 mpg on a trip that had hills and drove thru 3 towns.
I am towing the tractor right now. I’ll see you what I get on MPG tonight.
@@useful.knowledge awesome!!
Well you may be on to something. I got 9.1!
