Love this Promaster line. I have the Pepsi. A small correction, you watch has the Miyota 8204 movement. This one handwinds and hacks the second hand, the 8203 only hand winds. You can see the movement number on your caseback.
@@knutjunker2019 yes but it’s known that under the transition to 8204 they still used dials with the 8203 markings during a period. But if the case back says 8204 then that’s what’s in it. And the easiest way to be sure is to see if it hacks the seconds hand.
Thanks for the review of a great watch George. I have owned two of these for over 10 years and they are rock solid excellent watches - a real classic in my view. Cheers Noel
I have mine on a marine nationale strap. I have this watch, the titanium one and the fugu. I also own the eco drive pro master diver. I own 4 seikos also and keep gravitating back to the citizens.
I bought the green and white eco-drive promaster with the bracelet, it is actually heavy with about 170 grams it feels like a brick of steel on your wrist. However, the color looks beautiful and surprisingly dressy. I replaced the original bracelet with a jubilee style one, and its just perfect, though not comfortable for everyday use.
Simply, if you want to buy an automatic indestructible ISO diver that will last 20 years, buy a Citizen Promaster. If you want to buy an eco-drive quartz indestructible ISO diver that will last 20 years, buy a Citizen Promaster. You're spot on in your review.
Absolutely right! I bought the same Coke (the NY0085 has the 8104-Movement with hacking) a few months ago for 180 Euros and since that day the Promaster is my daily beater. This Citizen is precise, reliable, robust, has a history and looks incredibly good; all the other watches in my collection are currently being criminally neglected. I bought the version with the stainless steel bracelet, but replaced it with a rubber strap straight away. However, as soon as Mark offered it again, I ordered the Jubilee bracelet from Long Island Watches. A great bracelet for a great watch that is worth every penny. I love this little Citizen, not just a tool watch for me, but also a piece of jewellery. Unfortunately, the watch does not come in the scuba tank in Germany. Good watches can cost a lot, but they don't have to.😅
Very pride with my full lume one, with a military green nato is very distintive and fells super ultilitarian. I feel pleasure to use the 60's clunky bezel, the crazy rotor and the action of the crown, how winds and you feel the mecanics when setting the hands. A special place in my small collection.
I own the NY0086 Pepsi on the bracelet and just recently purchased their new ISO rated diver NY0129 on bracelet as well. I own many Seiko divers but I’m loving my two Citizens divers 👍🏻💯
@@WatcheswithGeorge after looking more, so it turns out citizen wrongly put 8203 on their spec sheet, I saw again your video on minute 8:33 on the back case it says 8204 hence its hacking capability haha! Got it! Thanks sir
Hey Darren. The movement in this one hand winds so it already has a head start and it wears a bit smaller. Apart from that the only thing it's lacking is a sapphire crystal but then again so did the SKX. Also .. you can still buy this and it's cheap and it stayed cheap plus you can get this with a solar movement.
I was looking to buy an skx but the prices were ridiculous for what they are and the cheaper ones are usually fakes. So I bought this citizen second hand from ebay for 180$ it looked brand new, best deal ever and you are right for that kinda money this is the best watch.
I have this watch with blue dial and Pepsi bezel, it's really nice with great lume. The 60 click bezel is meh, not super ratchety. This may be an unpopular opinion but I think Citizen makes a nicer budget diver than Seiko.
My NY0040-17L was listed on Jomashop as having Miyota 8203 (non-hacking). When I got it, on the dial it says 8203, but on the case back it says 8204 (hacking). Mine does indeed hack, so it is truly a Miyota 8204 movement. Your video says 8203, but your case back also says 8204 like mine.
My ISO divers :I have the same model as you, an SKX013 ( will sell it ,though it has no issues?!) & a Certina DS 38/39 (?..) mm diver - the only worst thing is the 19mm lugs, anyway I got it for £514 from CW Sellors/ Jura watches - they had a discount or sale (sadly, no commission for me). I deal with ISO certification in my work - all things being equal I would choose an ISO diver. Mark from Long Island Watch has done a UA-cam about the certification.
Where is all the ALI express clomage lovers? lol I want to here all the back lash on his statement, which I agree with lol. Ali express watches have no business in the discussion. You also cant deny the military horology of the NY0040.
Totally agree. Surprised more Americans don’t know about this cult icon of a watch. Been around forever and still looks the goods. Classic up there with the SKX in my part of the world.
It's ok but I don't much care for the 8 series Miyota with it's stuttering seconds hand, and the notchy feel of the date change. Oh and the way the seconds hand jumps off the marker when pushing the crown in after hacking. The only thing I will say is I find them much easier and quicker to regulate than other watches in this price range
I do agree on the notchy feeling with the date. I feel that something will snap everytime I change it but still! I love it 😍. Thanks again for watching
@@knutjunker2019 You do because all 8 series Miyota movements do this. You're just not noticing.. The series of Miyota movements based on the 82XX caliber have the Indirect Drive system. What's the deal with the left handed crown on these automatics? (Is there a practical reason for that?)
