It seems that the Japanese can't do without the date window and end up compromising the overall balance in design e.g. Seiko Presage. If it's that important to them they should learn to stick it some where nicely.
Citizen makes a gorgeous dial… then covers it all up in unnecessary complications. Same watch, no date, no 24 hour, no power reserve indicator = perfect watch.
The dial looks like a throwback to the 90s where everything was faux patina and mixed fonts. It's not that attractive to me but I can see why someone would like it.
I have the blue 3 hander version. I feel this one is too busy with the complications which takes away from the dial and makes it too thick for a dress watch. I love the more premium movement as well. Citizen gives good value for money though as similar seiko movement will be found in more expensive SJE series.

I'd also prefer if the power indicator and the relatively useless 24 hour sub-dial were each a bit smaller and took up less real estate on the dial. Especially since the dial is the star attribute of the watch. I'm less concerned about the 21 mm L2L.

I have several citizen watches, including this one, and two grand seiko watches. The dial is great citizens watches provide great value. There really is no comparison whatsoever between a grand Seiko dial and this dial, not even close
True there's been a spate of reviews like this stating that £100 - £250 watches are Rolex or Grand Seiko level. You wonder if the reviewers even understand watch brands. If you've ever held a Rolex or Grand Seiko in your hand you'll know this is simply not the case. It's like saying a Toyota is Rolls Royce level.
I found that changing my Amazon to the Japanese version was a good way to buy some JDM models and have them shipped to Australia otherwise sites like Sakura are great

Somehow Roman numerals cheapen up a watch. I think it’s because forever it felt like the trick that a cheap watch maker would use to try to make their watch look “fancy”.
I like those as well but the colour of this one in particular stood out to me. As nice as the blue 1060 is, there are a lot of other blue watches out there

There aren't any minute markings on the dial so if you want to get an accurate read of the time it kind of is. If they printed a minute track on the dial itself I'd agree with you
You would have thought that it was obvious, if you cannot colour-match the date window then do not have a date on such a watch. Finally, JDM products just piss me off and turn me against the company concerned. If I am paying big money then I do not want any hassles if I need servicing or a warranty claim.
The date frame looks ok to me. The date wheel seems to have some kind of mark/texture though. I'm guessing it's intentional and possibly some kind of paper texture/material similar to their washi dials on "the citizen" models
Damn , I've been caught out. After 60 odd videos about mostly Seiko watches, I sold my soul to the competition for a quick buck. Nothing gets past you clearly
While I'm contractually obligated to say they are the best movements ever made, they seem fine to me. They are miyotas in that Citizen own miyota. No different to Tudor and kenissi. They tend to have higher beat rates than Seiko but the rotor wobble is what people complain about since it only winds in one direction and spins freely in the other
I dislike Grand Seiko comparisons which are not accurate. That’s a nice dial but not GS caliber. It’s super common to make this sort of claim, and while I’m not a GS fanboy, I do own one and can confidently say that even at 10-15k you rarely see competition for the dial and the dial furniture. This watch is a Presage competitor.
you mean to thick at 14 mm…. the case size of 40 mm is inline with the calatrava at 39mm which is the benchmark for a gentleman’s dress watch. the calatrava is just under 9 mm thick
Seiko, citizen an orient all make high end japanese watches. Also, mid end watches. Why does it have to be a competition?. Citizens high end watches are just as nice as grand seiko. So with orient. It is all speculation an split interest between indivisuals likes. In reality no watch is better than another. They are all art on the wrist an tell the same time.

I think Seiko got too comfortable and stopped trying so hard while also increasing their prices. This left room for Citizen to come in

I had a Polaris too! It's a great watch. I will say the crystal adds quite a bit to the thickness so it doesn't feel so thick on wrist

patek, Frederique Constant both have 21 mm lug widths. VC , Rolex, Omega usually use 20 mm… I own GS snowflake and love it
Grand Seiko has signed(Logo) crown, Citizen has not.
