Of course Ahsoka has changed! People easily forget that Ahsoka was only a child at the start of the Clone Wars. She was only FOURTEEN! I was shocked - but pleasantly surprised - with the show's choice of actress for Young Ahsoka in the flashbacks. She very appropriately has a baby face, which reminds people just how young she was during the war. Like Ahsoka said, she was a soldier all of her life - she was never taught to follow the jedi path of peace. She SHOULD have PTSD - she was a child soldier, witnessed death and destruction, and countless war crimes!

I grew up watching the clone wars Ahsoka is one of the most well written characters, it also made me not really like the old movies showing how whiny and weak minded anikin was being, vs his selfless hero in the clone wars
@@TwoDollarGarargeidk, I was born in 1997 and was the perfect age to love the Clone Wars when it came out...but I didn't. I tried watching it then & never got into it, and going back to rewatch it now it still doesn't click for me. I've never cared for Ahsoka all that much, not because she was annoying early on, but because I almost never saw any internal conflict in her (the trait I look for most in a character). The times I've liked her most was during Rebels & the Siege of Mandalore, but I still wouldn't say I've been won over. And that's okay. I'm happy for everyone who loves Ahsoka, and I don't begrudge anyone for being excited to see her in live-action. Just my two cents tl;dr, I was part of the generation that grew up with Ahsoka & I still didn't like her
Yes! And why? To quote Allan, "...they are now Star Wars Man Babies!" I nearly tinkled my manties when he said that, and oh do they so exist! So, genius!
That's a bit heavy handed and hasty. I think alot of it may have to do with many fans not being filled in on her transitional periods during Rebels and the relatively flat dislodge and acting in the first few episodes of Ashoka. Speaking for myself, I knew Ashoka exclusively from the clone wars and hadn't seen any of her progression in Rebels or the mandalorian, so when I was met with a seemingly jaded and largely emotionless rendition of her character I was caught off guard but had just assumed that her past trials had shaped her to be this way now, which is fine. This however does not excuse the lack luster acting, dialog, and directing of the first fee episodes of the season. Ashoka is quiet and jaded but not I a particularly dramatic or sympathetic kind of way and what we are shown in the show does little to justify her demeanor. Take for example her cold treatment of Sabine, granted I didn't watch rebels and don't know how their relationship was there, but Sabine's character is insecure and eager to please and to be wanted while she knows her short comings. So when Ashoka, the jedi that was extended so much patience and empathy from Anakin reluctantly addresses and even shames Sabine in some instances (when she successfully hacks the HK droids head) the audience is left feeling that Ashoka is being unjustly cold and overly critical of Sabine, not exactly what we'd expect from Ashoka Tano. I just think that the writers could have done a better job of showing why Ashoka has lost patience with Sabine (this sort of happened when we see Sabine take the star map off the ship to her house despite Ashokas disapproval and Sabine ends up getting ambushed, to no fault of her own, and loses it to Shin). I don't particularly like the way Sabine's character is handled either, she comes off pretty immature and reckless but she is also much younger and this aspect if her character is sufficiently demonstrated throughout the first episode so it's easy for the audience to accept that as her character. To wrap this up I think the issue is that Ashoka seemingly adopted a new character and the show does little to show why; we don't ever get a quiete moment with her lamenting her past or stressing about her future nor do we get any cinematography to convey this idea. Andor has truly spoiled me and I believe it handled this same dilemma much more tactfully with Casian as we get to see where he's been, what he's done, where he came from, and what he wants out of his life before he gets falls into an entanglement with the corporate police, then the rebellion, and then the empire. The show explains in every way (exposition, cinematography, and actions/consequences) Why Andor is a morose and picaresque character and how he becomes radicalized. I firmly believe the responsibility of fleshing out the character and their motivations lies with the showrunners. Again, I picked up the show and simply filled in the blanks but I'd be a hell of alot more invested right now if I was shown why Ashoka is the way she is now.
Exactly. Anakin , padme , rex , plo koon , obi wan … all of them are family . Anakin was corrupted then died , Padme died from the hands of Anakin , plo koon died in this damned day , Obi wan disappeared . Only rex remained for a time and his accelerated aging will probably get to him soon … That’s a lot of loss and tragedy .
What if Ahsoka is pulled out of the world between worlds by Ezra in the other galaxy where he and Thrawn are (and where the rest of them will be) and then travels back to the Star Wars galaxy in their super hyperspace ring? The world between worlds could also be between galaxies. I think the other galaxy will be brief as otherwise what is Hera going to do for the next couple of episodes, just hide from command/the senate? It's like Alan said previosuly, she is unkillable.
6:10 would you ever think of doing an alternative history where the Jedi save Anakin’s mother and she resides in the temple? Would Sideous seek out and try to get her killed, would Anakin have been happier period, would another padawan be jealous and cause her death?

Just found your channel. I love your analysis. You make great points and make me feel so nostalgic for the stories that affected me so heavily during my childhood with the clone wars. Seeing snips and sky Guy together truly is going to be such a huge moment.
The more I've thought about it, the I think it makes sense to say that the counsel had it coming. They treated him so heartlessly and coldly, it makes perfect sense that they sowed the seeds of Anakin's anger and hostility. They treated him like a weapon. The Jedi knights were collateral damage in what the counsel made inevitable. After becoming Vader, Ahsoka likely would have been among the dead if she'd stayed.
I completely connect with Anakin, to love something so deeply that you end time and space it self to see them through all the way until the bitter to give your life for another without hesitation if the situation ever came up. Yes in a heart beat i would because they have so much more potential than i ever could. i believe that's the mindset he's coming from.
I watched these "fashbacks" with Ashoka questioning her Jedi training in a time of war to have Anikin remind her that Jedi must adapt and he will teach her everything he knows about war so she can survive. Then, she asks him what she will teach her Padawan. Later she takes up a Mandolorian as a Padawan, who has never had any training but for war. Thought.
Hello, Allen! I only discovered Generation Tech a couple of weeks ago, but I really enjoy it. Myself, I belong to Generation Not-So-Sure-About-Tech. My first two tech experiences involved working with data punch cards and owning a not-so-trusty Trash 80. (Now I have an ASUS laptop that I wish would stop "helping" me to death.) But cutting to the chase, I enjoy your site because it encourages me to think--as Cookie 12670 pointed out, about both the fictional world of Star Wars and the world I live in. (Going on 75 is *not* too old think, BTW.) So far, I've enjoyed the segments about Hera Syndulla and Carson Teva running interference for Asoka as she sets out to track down Thrawn and Ezra, Anakin not being willing to let Asoka die, and the speculation on what Baylan and Shin Hati are up to. Keep the good stuff coming--and may you live a very long and thoughtful life!
My takeaway from the last episode is that Ahsoka's confidence was shaken ever since she found out Anakin was Vader and started rejecting and second guessing Anakin's teachings, believing it may turn her to the dark side. That is why she lacked conviction. She has been second guessing herself this entire show. She felt she was trained "wrong". Anakin explained why he chose to train her how he did, and then led her down the same path he went down, eventually putting her into the same situation he was in when he fought Dooku. She made a different choice than Anakin did in the same situation, making her understand that Anakin's choices don't have to be her choices, and while he made mistakes, there was still value in the lessons he taught her.
Isn't Ahsoka older than Anakin was when he died in return of the Jedi? He was 46(23 as Anakin and 23 as Vader) and Ahsoka is 48 in her show..... so people are fine with Anakin having a huge personality change within 4 years but Ahsoka isn't allowed to change after 31 years?
I was tearing up near the end, about how Anakin should have never been a Jedi, and that nobody understood him because he was so compassionate and loving. Ironic, isn't it?
Ways to enter the world between worlds: 1 portal 2 be pulled through from someone inside 3 have your padawan see you die (Obi-Wan and Luke, qui gon and Obi-Wan, Yoda and Luke, maybe Anakin and ahsoka (on malachor), ahsoka and Sabine).... Just a thought (that had me wake up an hour before my alarm).
Allen is my new Star Trek leader, and I also enjoy & so agree with his philosophical analysis and correlation! Philisophical points are similar to Vlad Vexler who I cannot recommend his YT channel enough, as with this one! Humor wise, Allen had me at, "Star Wars Man Babies!" that was a giggle!
Was obi wan lying again when he said I thought I could instruct him as well as Yoda and was wrong. But really gave quigon hi word and himself thought the boy is dangerous and was right he was right about me
Dude. Could you imagine a galaxy where Anikin doesn't fall? Like imagine what would happen if Palpatine created the empire, but Anikin doesn't become his apprentice. He'd probably have started the rebellion much earlier, and the Empire would have fallen long before Luke and Leia ever grow up. Star Wars needs a what if serious so bad!
There was actually a series of what if comics that came out after the original trilogy ended exploring mostly "what if luke didn't do X". E.g what if luke didn't blow up the deathstar. What if luke died in the woompa cave on hoth
My issue with this portrayal isn't that she's not like Snips, she's not really like Ahsoka from Rebels, either. Granted, dying/getting yeeted into interstitial space is bound to change a person, I just recall adoring how open and caring Ahsoka was in Rebels, being that rock for everyone to lean on, but in a metaphorical sense, not a literal stone-faced monk. She still had her sense of humor, but tempered by wisdom and experience, and she'd even get rattled from time to time. Could be I'm just biased, but Ahsoka in this series seems very 'Jedi' when really she shouldn't be, since she's born the brunt firsthand of what Lightside indoctrination entails. Maybe that's intentional, but it's still a little off, you know?
So cortosis is still making its way slowly back to canon, if i remember correctly during the cw Thrawn and Anakin run into a seppie factory making battledroids with cortsis and it was viewed as a serious problem. This was in one of the new canon thrawn trilogies. DR Aphra also used one, I believe they nerfed the weapon quite a bit making it very easy to break which might be one of the reasons its n0t as common
@GenerationTech Thanks for replying.. as far as I know the armour of the battledroids like the cortosis armour used by the old republic army only employs trace amounts and thus is resistant to lightsabres but doesn't damage them (must assume it is also somewhat more resistant to blasters as well).. however a pure cortosis blade is not only much more resistant (but may fail after several hits in the same location by a lightsabre) but will also null out any lightsabre not using a very specific crystal type... therefore unless your opponent has one of these crystals (very difficult to get but I would make it a high priority) unless he has one of these crystals the mere contact of your black metal blade will knock out his lightsabre for long enough to just slice him up wither with your lightsabre or sword or perhaps both... really any dual weapon user would be able to employ this very naturally into their style... the opponent would have to resort to force pushes or suchlike... really at that point it becomes more martial as in wearing actual armour but then again this would make actual knights into what they are supposed to be..
If Anakin is the new Nexus, and Ahsoka is the embodiment of light…. His only other apprentice was Star killer in the dark. Perhaps this is where we are going here.
Wouldn’t the Jedi have wanted to study Shmi, having bore someone with high m count. Either her or another of her line could have a unique connection with the force.
Can you imagine standing in a hallway, with a half-dozen large battledroids shooting blaster bolts at you from 5 feet away, and only needing to block a couple of the DOZENS of shots being fired your way. Maybe the Jedi weren't awesome. Maybe the Clone Wars had them fighting against the most inept enemies of all time and they STILL lost. Weird.
Man, Anakin's involvement makes me think of how he didn't bother to help Rey in Episode IX 😅 or maybe he just wanted her to die, that's also understandable.
I made it to 2:05 in this one now I'm outie. Anakin was NOT "fated to fall." Those who say this don't even grasp the BASICS of who and what the Chosen One is.
Given what shes been through i think its reasonable for her to act as shes does. However my actual problem with how shes been written post clone wars is that she just doesn't have any personal investment in what's going on. Even in the show shes headlining she barley knows Ezra and has no connection to Thrawn (it really feels more like Sabines story). Her only real story was a short character arc about confronting Vader but since then she's just kind of there, doing generic jedi stuff.
You left out the fact that Anakin never even embraced the teachings of the Jedi and spent his life trying to have his cake and eat it too, instead of accepting the reality of the situation he was in and growing up and moving on
We all know the political reasons the Jedi were unable to get directly involved in setting Shmi Skywalker free. What should have happened was the Jedi should have asked the Royal House of Naboo to buy her freedom. Padme could have bought her freedom with her pocket change or petty cash. They could have moved her to Naboo and set her up in a position of employment. If for no other reason, as a thank you to Anakin.

She SHOULD have PTSD - she was a child soldier, witnessed death and destruction, and countless war crimes!
this channel is so refreshing and informative, Best star wars channel without a doubt
Every thing in that hug galaxy revolves around a small group of people
@GenerationTech - Dude. OUTSTANDING video. Great analysis of Ahsoka, Anakin, and their connection to the Force. And EXCELLENT choice of clips to illustrate your points. THIS is the kind of Star Wars analysis content that I freaking love.
Keep doing what you do,
and MTFBWY.
I don’t know anything about you, just discovered your channel when Ashoka came out. Man I gotta say you’re insights into the story beyond the screen are remarkable. Maybe a team is helping you or your just are highly intelligent and delve into all this on your own. Either way it’s exceptionally well done.
One of the best analogies I’ve ever seen of the relationship between Anikan and Asoka!
I feel like people who don’t like the fact that Ashoka Tano grew up are the same people who peaked in high school
I don't think that's the case it's more of it's not their era of Star wars A lot of the people who don't like her didn't grow up with the prequels era
Just my two cents
tl;dr, I was part of the generation that grew up with Ahsoka & I still didn't like her
Yes!
Damn dude good video
I really loved episode 5, hella member berries
2:00 its funny because its true in the canon that anakin was destined to fall but also that she didnt exist until way after
I think that’s the point, it’s part of the whole “the force already knows what’s gonna happen” prophecy thing
@Finn_7117 "George already wrote this shit 15 years ago"
Anakin was Ahsokas big brother. She couldn't save her brother. That changes you.
Exactly. Anakin , padme , rex , plo koon , obi wan … all of them are family . Anakin was corrupted then died , Padme died from the hands of Anakin , plo koon died in this damned day , Obi wan disappeared . Only rex remained for a time and his accelerated aging will probably get to him soon …
That’s a lot of loss and tragedy .
"You can't save your master. And I can't save mine."
One of the only star wars UA-camrs who I feel genuinely cares half of them just repeat the same line In a different configuration for 10 minutes every video
Should have started the video with Michael jackson smooth criminal because we know ahsoka is saying hey annie are you ok are you ok annie?
struggling not to cry while watching this...
You've made the exact same argument I have always made about Anakin, Ashoka, and Obi Wan.
This is my favorite star wars channel for many reasons and this video is one of them
I completely connect with Anakin, to love something so deeply that you end time and space it self to see them through all the way until the bitter to give your life for another without hesitation if the situation ever came up.
WOW! This was a very good commentary on Anakin and Snips relationship.
I think probably one of your best videos. Thank you.
It's amazing how a fuckking cartoon can show emotion and deep story way way way better than Disney.
This was the perfect way to explain her and anakins greater importance to the force
Been watching a long time, just good content man well done
Fuck man you really pulled my heart strings at the end there . Love your content.
The way ahsoka leaving destroyed me emotionally is insane
"Sky-guy"
I was tearing up near the end, about how Anakin should have never been a Jedi, and that nobody understood him because he was so compassionate and loving. Ironic, isn't it?
Ways to enter the world between worlds:
1 portal
2 be pulled through from someone inside
3 have your padawan see you die (Obi-Wan and Luke, qui gon and Obi-Wan, Yoda and Luke, maybe Anakin and ahsoka (on malachor), ahsoka and Sabine)....
Just a thought (that had me wake up an hour before my alarm).
I have learned so much about starwars that I didn't know from watch your videos. Thank you for doing what you do and look forward to the next one 😁
Haha thanks live long and prosper 😁
Fact, this video was posted while the. iphone 15, was marketed!
Was just watching another Generation Tech video. Nice surprise.
Was obi wan lying again when he said I thought I could instruct him as well as Yoda and was wrong. But really gave quigon hi word and himself thought the boy is dangerous and was right he was right about me
Why you make me cry Allen? This hit too hard
Thanks for these videos, Ashoka really needs to focus.
Just gotta say when she ignites both lightsabers before going to save the robot was so slick
Palpatine would also be dead
@@jdurk I mean, not necessarily. Perhaps, Anikin barely escapes him
@@TipsySpindaI love this idea ! Also it's Anakin with an a in the middle 😅
@@Dakarai_Knight oops😅
There was actually a series of what if comics that came out after the original trilogy ended exploring mostly "what if luke didn't do X".
E.g what if luke didn't blow up the deathstar.
What if luke died in the woompa cave on hoth
And she was a good friend.
Maybe that's intentional, but it's still a little off, you know?
what do you say now after ep 5? 😏
@@asull06 Great character work! I'm really excited to see where they take Ahsoka's development.
Alan is a Dolfi… GOAT
I’m fully prepared for Filoni to rip my heart out tonight
What if, instead of preventing Anakin’s fall, Ashoka would have fallen along side of him in the Chancellor’s office?
I haven’t seen any of your videos in a long time. Just hasn’t come up. Great video.
A brilliant annalisis. And I absolutely agree.
6:35 to be fair im right there with him on this one ied be in just the same mood if i found my mum dead after been tortured.
Episode 5 is awesome. Dave in Star Wars walks on water. LLAP
Love the daily uploads bro epic work
While ahsoka is my absolute favorite character. And a complete badass. Let’s not forget how amazing a master anakin was to her.
Great piece!
Question.. is there any reason that a force user doesn't use a lightsabre in one hand and a cortosis blade in the other...
@GenerationTech
Thanks for replying.. as far as I know the armour of the battledroids like the cortosis armour used by the old republic army only employs trace amounts and thus is resistant to lightsabres but doesn't damage them (must assume it is also somewhat more resistant to blasters as well).. however a pure cortosis blade is not only much more resistant (but may fail after several hits in the same location by a lightsabre) but will also null out any lightsabre not using a very specific crystal type... therefore unless your opponent has one of these crystals (very difficult to get but I would make it a high priority) unless he has one of these crystals the mere contact of your black metal blade will knock out his lightsabre for long enough to just slice him up wither with your lightsabre or sword or perhaps both... really any dual weapon user would be able to employ this very naturally into their style... the opponent would have to resort to force pushes or suchlike... really at that point it becomes more martial as in wearing actual armour but then again this would make actual knights into what they are supposed to be..
they should make a sith empire in the other galaxy.
he re-trained her to fight a war...i think the yuuzhan vong will be in the new galaxy
Great video. By far the best information on Ashoka yet.
Beautiful man Beautiful
8:17 Stormtroopers? Great video, but I'm not letting that one slide lol
I think by now Asohka is in her 40s.
If Anakin is the new Nexus, and Ahsoka is the embodiment of light…. His only other apprentice was Star killer in the dark. Perhaps this is where we are going here.
С удовольствием смотрю ваши ролики
Wouldn’t the Jedi have wanted to study Shmi, having bore someone with high m count. Either her or another of her line could have a unique connection with the force.
It’s because Anakin wasn’t her master , he was her big bro .
Like come on, what're the odds that Anakin would go on a second murderous rampage killing children...
Calling massacring Tuscan woman and children "a step to the Dark Side" is like calling the ocean "damp"
Sounds about right, this is some good content right here. ;-;
6:27 I mean…fuck em. The chose the wrong homestead to attack.
You left out the fact that Anakin never even embraced the teachings of the Jedi and spent his life trying to have his cake and eat it too, instead of accepting the reality of the situation he was in and growing up and moving on
Wow
We all know the political reasons the Jedi were unable to get directly involved in setting Shmi Skywalker free. What should have happened was the Jedi should have asked the Royal House of Naboo to buy her freedom. Padme could have bought her freedom with her pocket change or petty cash. They could have moved her to Naboo and set her up in a position of employment. If for no other reason, as a thank you to Anakin.
