Without Thorkell that 500 men would go wherever they want and kill pillage rape.. but under Thorkell they are following commands and only kill when they are told to kill.( also season 1 when canute says to Bjorn "i will tell when to fight and against whom. This entire episode of Vinland Saga was just incredible. It's quite possibly the best episode I've seen of any anime in this entire spring season. Almost everything in this episode was great in my opinion. - The Vikings even Drott (who later apologised) having respect for Thorfinn as a true warrior. - Thorfinn finally saying the words his father Thors (and even us viewers) wanted him to say and believe in all this time. - Olmar admiring Thorfinn's determination and strength to fight for Ketil's farm without any violence. - Einar showing us the pain of an average person getting caught in the violence caused by ideals of people like Canute. - Canute revealing his true ideals on how he will make his version of "Paradise" on earth.
Sometimes no matter what your going through it's about resolve & sometimes you got to endure to make it through, also this was when i threw away the old thorfinn issue alot of people had this season i didnt care about what he could do to someone it became what can he do now
The moment King Canute was commanding the waves to stop moving was based on a real historical moment from the actual real-life King Canute. He told the waves to stop before it soaks his feet and cape to prove a point to his men on how he's powerless against the one true king, God. It's so neat how Yukimara tied that moment into his story.
Thorfinn is really him. I'm going thru some difficulties with my mom for meaningless things, but watching his development I can see that sometimes even being right we can avoid some discussions, trying to have some conversation to solve our problems

Thorfinn and Einar are not sure whether Pater died but Thorfinn didn't want Einar to look, as they would feel hatred towards Canute if they found Pater among the dead.
I see both sides of it, Thorfinn is idealist and Canute is Machiavellian ‘ends justify the means’ . if Canute can conquer the world then there won’t be any more war, but he has to cause so much pain to make it happen it’s almost not worth it. Thorfinn is right in that no one has any enemies but there is no escaping conflict and violence in the era they are in. @Naowfil Reza Haha see, the difference here is that Thorfinn knows how to really fight to defend himself if needed, so he got more options. That's just the last option for him. Thorfinn also knows how to diminish some of the damage to the guy punching him with his movements during the hits.
