I regret reading the book before watching the movie. Agatha's and Sophie's display of power was so underwhelming in the adaptation. They were so badass in the book. I just hope we get justice for the sequel.
This right here they are so badass in the books they underplayed Agatha’s gifts and made her beautiful from the get go. Which we know in the book she was considered ghastly pale ashy skin greasy black hair huge eyes etc… what the fairytales considered truly evil looking. I love the adaptation don’t get me wrong but feel certain things could have gotten so much better. Like the cut out beautiful scene for Aggie like that was PIVOTAL in the book for Joe Agatha saw herself or the fact that she longed to be in the school for nevers.
actually this arent her powers at all, these are all just the usual school magic, her true power (or rather talent) was showcased during the wish fish scene, its not made clear in the movie but in the books she has the ability to hear unspoken wishes and grant them
For goodness sake why didn’t they just go this route more? A witch who can materialise her’s and other’s dreams would be great to see on TV. Obviously they wouldn’t overpower it like she could literally wish any problem away or make another person wish a problem away but at least they could start from something small like materialising objects. then maybe in the final/battle scene she materialises more powerful stuff like the elements or something to defeat the enemy, then next film they could build on that and so on and so on.

I love the movie but I wonder the details about the magic, how it work, what the key's specific purpose and more (that's why I wanna read the book😅). The movie was amazing tho. I really love these kind of films or series (like Harry Potter, The Worst Witch, Etc.) and adding Olivia Rodrigo's "Brutal" is great specially one of the lead actor, Sofia Wylie (Agatha) and her were both in hsmtmts wich also brought me to watch this.
