I remember reading the book, fell in love with it especially when the two girls fell in love with one another at the end after one goes bald and the other kisses her to release her of the curse she put on herself. I haven't seen the movie sadly, I don't think it'll have the same nail biting experience the book had.
I thought this movie would be different form the typical fairytales, I liked the movie and also I love Disney fairitales but in the end is the same old story. If we ignore Sophie's story we have a merida-like of a princess that gets the Prince. I was expecting Sophie going Evil, and then after the fight going good as the hero she wanted to be, showing there's more about being good or just being bad. Also teaching tedros how to be himself apart from the expectations he has on his shoulders as king Arthur's son or just being good or hero he was supposed to be. That's why I shipped them, but yeah, he ends with Agatha in the end so basically this is another story of those that the strong girl falls for the epic hero of the story.

I'm not defending her but honestly she's my fav cause she had the most complicated personality. Sophie was just a popular girl who dreamed and wished for a happy ending. Her kindness is highly performative and she can be compared to a kid who does their house chores and helps parents due to Christmas coming soon. She became Agatha's friend to show how she is nice to everyone, even to an awkward lonely "witch". She wants to live like a princess and some actions are a mix of being manipulated and her own selfish tendencies.

It was Sophie’s talent. Also, Agatha doesn’t kill Rafal with Excalibur, she doesn’t even kill him in the book
