- A quick video recording of Badlands Pete for Atari ST. With some fine-tuning to the basic/stupid/horrible mechanics, this could have been a great game. As is, too difficult cos everyone is always out for blood so it becomes tedious IMHO. Oh, and my joystick is bust so I had to use the keyboard which may/may not explain my performance lol. I didn't know there was a port of RDR for the Atari ST. It looks good, nice touches with the sound, good graphics and animation.

Glad you liked it, like I keep on saying though, with some tweaks and extra thought, this could have been a great game. Just feels rushed or something..........
Never saw it before, for me this is a new ST game that I’m just discovering right now, thanks man! At 1st sight it looks nice, beautiful graphics and scrolling, but maybe the shooting parts are not well balanced, probably when playing it the gameplay feelings are completely different. I will give it a try.

@@AtariCrypt I've finally played it. Well, I don't like it, the controls are awful, slow and clumsy, the playing area (or window) is very small and the rest of space onscreen is only used for bullets and life indicators, it has no sense. Specially, the shooting parts are completely crazy, you can shoot 30 times to one guy before he dies! 😂I think that the playability is bad, but the game idea is good, this kind of action-exploration game reminds me of Colorado, a good arcade-adventure game where the fighting or shooting parts are better made and the exploration of landscapes, characters and different places is very close to the purpose of Badlands Pete (more or less).
When you get in a shootout the bullets are flying all over the place! 🤠
This game could easily have been so much better. Plus I don't think there is a version out that's been cracked for inf health/ammo... That doesn't help me! lol

The pixel art is really great, but you just aren't allowed to interact with the world in a way that lives up to the character imbued into the characters by the pixel art.
I recommend looking at the C64 game "High Noon", which has much lower resolution pixel art. Yet, the town feels like it has more "character" because of the way the characters interact and the doors swing and such.
yeah it's all about searching for the girls and trying not to get killed in the process. With some more thought this could have been a great game.
