- Dare I say that (despite my terrible skills) this is one of the best shooters from the late 80s era. I mean, wow, it is great fun - but only with the controls that you personally feel comfortable using. These are fully reconfigurable and I opted to use the keyboard/mouse combo with my Atari ST. I don't know if it was one of the best, but it was definitely one of the most fun and atmospheric games. SEGA knew how to make them.

I meant from my own pov so to me its simplicity and entertainment just nails it. Love it :)
The only thing I don't like about this game is having to restart at the beginning of the level after you die.
But man, that laser sound effect
tbh that never bothers me because I'd probably do better, so it feels more of a challenge as is. But i get ya completely. Damn i suck at this game! lol

Don't ever remember SDI out on the Atari ST. I have played the Sega Master System version. Which is pretty good.
Give it a whirl, looks great and plays superbly using keyboard/mouse combo

I do remember struggling with the controls with this one.....and what the hell has the dancing penguin have to do with anything? Might give it another go...seeing how you are doing so well.

lol i know what you mean. Seriously, if you can configure the WASD on the ST's keyboard along with using the mouse to shoot, then it's ace. Hope you had a great new year mate. Here's 🍻 to you hopefully making those great ST videos for 2023!!
The penguin is actually Flicky the bird who starred in her own game in 1984, and she would make cameo appearances in other Sega games at the time including Bloxeed. Of course, Flicky would become part of the Sonic the Hedgehog universe as a woodland critter who is often abducted by Dr. Robotnik, and is often rescued by Sonic.
