  • For the Spring issue of Vertical Valor we visited Leon County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit in Tallahassee, Florida. The unit performs a wide range missions with their two Bell 206B3 Jet Rangers and single Bell 505 helicopters. These missions encompass everything from routine patrols and vital search and rescue operations to rapid SWAT deployments and critical powerline inspections.
Check out the video to learn about how the Aviation Task Force was setup between the Sheriff's Office and the Tallahassee Police Department, and how the unit trains to employ airborne use of force.

Really cool that a Sheriff was willing to partner with TPD and allow someone to operate his aircraft. Also cool that TPD lets an officer fly the Sheriff’s aircraft. Win-win when ego’s aren’t involved.

It’s really cool to live about 4 miles south of these guys taking off to go to the national forest. First time in got a chance to see the 505 live…..
