Windscreen cleaning 101 from a 16 year veteran working GA operations. When clean a windscreen (not a windshield) one does not clean in circles. This causes swirls in the glass, causing a halo effect. Over time hard to see out because of the refraction of light. The correct way to clean a windscreen is vertically, straight lines from the top of the windscreen to the bottom, or bottom to top.
Love the Dauphin and your great content. I am an ex-Coast Guard aviator and spent many hours aloft in your recent acquisition. Unfortunately cancer has clipped my wings so thank you for letting me live vicariously through your eyes, ears and feet which used to feel very comfortable on those rudder pedals. Hey Mate, great video. Just a friendly tip at 20:25 when cleaning the helicopter windscreen. Instead of wiping it in circles, try up and down motion because if the windscreen is getting scratched, they are vertical line scratches not horizontal. Learnt this tip at my Helicopter Flying school who also have a large fleet of squirrels for Power Line inspections here in Australia and horizontal scratches can make spotting of powerlines difficult. Hope this helps and love the helicopter content, always very inspiring.
As a helicopter flight mechanic in the Coast Guard who works on these everyday. It is cool to see dave and the team love the 65! It is an awesome aircraft with many different capabilities and I’m sure they will love it for a long time!
I've seen Augusta/Eurocopter/Airbus Dauphin helicopters with over 15,000 hours on the air frame. Hands down, one of the best civilian helicopters ever built. Our local Medivac units use to fly the Dauphin 24/7, 365 days a year. With the increases in medical gear constantly added, they are being phased out for the AugustaWestland/Leonardo 139.
The Dauphin is a Aérosatiale helicopter only, nothing to do with Augusta. But Aérospatiale made the Lynx with Westland, which then became Augusta Westland.
Our local trauma center flew these and they have such a distinctive sound. I can recognize it instantly. Back in the 90's many of the pilots were Viet Nam vets and were amazing. The nurses and flight MD's were the best of the best. It was always a thrill to watch them land on some random road or highway. Sadly, I don't have "good" memories associated with them, as the scenes were usually very traumatic. I would say "vivid" memories. I know they saved countless lives and they were your best chance of making it in a truly awful situation. Glad this one will live on in "retirement".
@HeavyDSparks I used to work EMS in northern ohio and that blue airframe is absolutely a legend in that world. 93SV responded to scenes i called them on. That Dauphin sound was always nice to hear orbiting a wreck on the turnpike or some other critical incident. I was so sad when Mercy went to the Augustas but I am also so excited to see these two warriors getting a second life. This makes my day
As a former Toledo Ohio resident this brings back memories! I used to watch N293SV takeoff and land at the local hospitals. Did you know your new bird was previously owned by Penn State Hershey Medical Center and also saved lives through MercyHealth in Toledo? N293SV was one of the classic birds in MercyHealth Life Flight’s fleet. I used to see this bird all the time. Loved the video! Thanks for giving these birds a new home!
Something very much like that happened with a friend of mine here in Florida! He started out with powered paraglider's, then gets himself a helicopter, next thing we know he buys a big chunk of land just north of me puts up a huge hangar building shed and is now building and modifying and painting helicopters and I think he's up to having two or three of his own LOL.

I enjoyed the bird getting hot gas (refuel while running engines). Brought back fond memories of hot gas in Iraq. We would fly all day, hot gas numerous times, and only shut the bird down at the end of the day when the missions were complete. This was with the great UH-60, but hot gassed with the legendary UH-1 also. Even got hot gas from a C-5 once. Fly safe, fly smart. Love you machines, and the content.
I did many flights in 97SV back in the early 2000's in Toledo. If you have any interest in some old photos let me know. She did a good job of taking care of us and many others!!!!
Dude the ammount of cash you must have in the coffers to run 2 dolphins and a Blackhawk must be insane. To strip them down to the frames and have everything redone is staggeringly expensive. Cudos.
Half of the video is an advertisement or a contest you have to buy something to be entered into a drawing to be entered into a contest that needs 10,000 subscribers to be eligible to even happen.
@@shanew7361 he is definitely paid extremely well. A used Blackhawk ranges from 15 - 40 million depending on the options.... a retrofit of that helicopter is another several million if you strip it down to the frame and repaint it. A used dolphin is between 2 - 4 million. Before a retrofit. Insurance, maintenance, storage (like a hanger) fuel etc are also all tremendously expensive... especially the maintenance part. Rollin in cash.
Well let's see. He's got a net worth of about $8 million. One of his companies does sales around $30 million a year. He has numerous companies and partnerships... I think he's doing ok. Not bad for a self-made millionaire.
Holy cow! I was born in Wray, CO and lived there until I started highschool. I totally forgot there was an airport. I spent a lot of time at that 7-11. That hotel wasn't there. Thanks for sharing!!
Personally, I'd like to see something that hasn't been done yet! For example, if it is even possible to build a VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) that could handle a lot of cargo and passengers while being able to handle at least a couple of times the speed of sound! Guess if that wouldn't impress every single one!!!
I’ve had many hours working with the HH-65 during my 25 year Coast Guard career. You might find a few coasties with the skills to keep your helos flying right. That’s where I would head hunt for one.
I’ve been on scenes with both of these exact same helicopters from St. V’s life flight out of Toledo Ohio a few times. These exact two have flown over my house numerous times. I remember as a kid running out to see them and then looking on Flightradar24 and tracking their flight. Now on my way to becoming a flight medic, I’m so close!
Back in 1990 i took a ride in the Maryland State Police Dauphin medic vac when I broke my neck…15 minute ride to Baltimore from western Maryland!!!! Respect
Pure inspiration to work hard and pursue the American Dream! Unfortunately, at the same time i can't help but to feel like we are currently on the decline. Lets get some real leadership in this country. FJB!

Dave’s Fortunate Son vibes are incredibly reckless… I love it!
Awesome helicopters, they sound so unique...congrats!
They always sound like something is about to vibrate off.
Need more aviation content!
Great channel. I'm an old retired A&P who just loves helicopters period. If you all come to Sun and Fun next year, I'll do my best to look ya up. God bless
It’s so awesome to see you buy Life Lion! Landed this helicopter sooo many times as a first responder.
Always a good day when HeavyD uploads
Happy Birthday Hans. I don't care what anyone says you are one of my favorite persons on Dave's team. You look tired, maybe Dave is working you too hard.
Hands is my favorite too!! Idk what it is about him but I just love him! & him pulling up in that car had me in tears!!
@@hayleeedwards3072wow you cry easily 😂
@@mwatkins2464 lmao I think I related it to my cousin who bought a hoopty just because & me & my best friend took a spin in it & we were in the floorboard dying laughing bc of all the ragged noises 😝😂
@@hayleeedwards3072 that’s funny 😂🙏
RIP to all the camera men left behind on this trip
When he flipped the cameraman off at the hotel, I died!
@thejunkyard5695 so true
Oooh that sound, was very familiar when I was a first responder on my fire dept. We landed an help them on takeoffs, from medical runs. You my friend have brought back a flood of memories for all good. But not so good for the injured. Thanks for this video. Love the channel, keep up the great work.👍✌️😎😁🍀🍀🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
365SJ served the hospitals in my area for better than 20 years. Loved that sound! Glad to see she has a new lease on life
One of the greatest trophy garage in the world!
When they left the hotel and Dave just flips off the camera I about lost it laughing 😂😂
Classy Heavy D. It's so nice to see our younger mature generation taking life by the reins. Well done-
I enjoyed the bird getting hot gas (refuel while running engines).
The best part was driving a car about to blow up to get into your helicopter 😂😂
Dude the ammount of cash you must have in the coffers to run 2 dolphins and a Blackhawk must be insane. To strip them down to the frames and have everything redone is staggeringly expensive. Cudos.
UA-cam money and sponsors. I'm sure he's paid well.
I’d really like to know how much revenue needs to be generated to support Dave’s life
I'm sure he makes more than he spends leasing his helicopters not sure if he does but most aircraft owners do to be able to fly for free or very cheap
Well let's see. He's got a net worth of about $8 million. One of his companies does sales around $30 million a year. He has numerous companies and partnerships... I think he's doing ok. Not bad for a self-made millionaire.
I love watching every success story Dave it makes the journey so rewarding for you. Its wonderful you can do this journey.
Holy cow! I was born in Wray, CO and lived there until I started highschool. I totally forgot there was an airport. I spent a lot of time at that 7-11. That hotel wasn't there. Thanks for sharing!!
To further comment, the CG Dauphine is the H-65 either A,B or C. The C has the ability to do inverted maneuvers!
If you ever do a "what should we built" project for a helicopter or airplane, an Airwolf clone would be crazy. 😎
Personally, I'd like to see something that hasn't been done yet! For example, if it is even possible to build a VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) that could handle a lot of cargo and passengers while being able to handle at least a couple of times the speed of sound! Guess if that wouldn't impress every single one!!!
i can see the day when the others will stumble into the office and tell dave "WE ARE GOING TO NEED A BIGGER YARD " [ from jaws ]
:) Wonder how many of you were like me and said to the screen, don't forget your gear!! Hope you enjoyed the flight home.
Is this helicopter the same type as they used on the Airwolf show used? They are beautiful when they fly❤❤
The helicopter that was used in Airwolf was a Bell 222 Business Jet helicopter with a few things add onto it to make it look a bit futuristic.
No. That was a modified bell 222
Beat me to it. Bell 222…
No, airwolf was a bell 222.
That would be a modified Bell 222
This one's an AS365 Dauphin
Both gorgeous birds, no doubts
Man has more helicopters than whistlindiesel, he needs another one for cody to fly from a remote controller 😂🔥💯🇺🇸
Congratulations! Well deserved. You live an amazing life!! Glad your hard work is paying off for you and your family!!
Back in 1990 i took a ride in the Maryland State Police Dauphin medic vac when I broke my neck…15 minute ride to Baltimore from western Maryland!!!! Respect
God bless America 🇺🇸
WTF was that volume spike at 16:30
🤯
Pure inspiration to work hard and pursue the American Dream! Unfortunately, at the same time i can't help but to feel like we are currently on the decline. Lets get some real leadership in this country. FJB!
Nothing like the noise of the finestron tail. Spent 15,000 hours in S&R helicopters. Those are work horses. Not too bad around salt water if you do the proper maintenance- which you all are meticulous about 👍 Enjoy & stay safe 🇺🇸
