You may already know this, but I will put this out there. This is for GMN, the normal tactical angle of approach to a BH helicopter is 45°, so you are taught that you must duck. The blades can dip down ato just over 6 feet.
@@Buffeddust a helicopter might also land on terrain that isn't perfectly level, so the blades could be even lower than they appear. It's definitely worth it to duck when the alternative is risking getting your head lopped off.
Nice one. Brings back a lot of memories! Been in the South African defence force in the 90's and our water jumps were a bit different then (it may have evolved by now). We did not have any flotation devices, so while on descent you had to basically unbuckle the harness - after pulling the leg straps low on your legs, so that it acts as a "chair" - and then at the last moment you would literally jump out of the harness into the water. I think this method in the video is much better :-)
I’m absolutely terrified of heights, but…maybe it’s the altitude they jumped from or it’s the landscape being so peaceful, I really enjoyed this and thought how nice it would be to be in the camera man’s position.
Try paragliding. You start out doing small flights off hills then progress. I’m not one for skydiving but I did a paragliding course and have flown a lot, it’s not so scary if you do it in stages.
I hate heights, just graduated from ABN school. At 1250 ft it doesn’t seem so high. I was always very nervous until after I handed off my static line, then I just said “fuck it” in my head.
The situation is that there is no perspective from which height is judged, as from a building. Jumping from the 30 foot and 300 for towers is terrifying, from an airplane is much easier. What we see is just a great green carpet. ( white, if your Canadian)
And shorts on. They're going to swim to shore and war in shorts. This is a worthless exercise. They'll never parachute into water and get picked up by boats. For fucks sake if there's a God damned boat ready to pick them up, they could have loaded the Rangers on the boats and fuck the parachute jump.
Army life is actually pretty boring. You don't get to do stuff like this everyday, or shoot guns everyday. PMCS, Sergeants time training, EO/Sexual harassment classes, etc. That's gonna take up a lot of your time. Also, my airborne friend said these guys will have to clean and dry their parachutes before giving them to the Riggers. So fun!
90% of your time is spent going to formation, (a half hour early), waiting for formation, standing in formation listening to your dumbass First Sergeant blah blah blah about a bunch of moxnix bullshit, leaving formation, and doing nothing while you wait for the next formation. The other 10% is police call.
I went through airborne training in the 60's. We received training for tree, landing and water landing. But we never actually did them. On purpose. We heard that one class did a night jump and upon deploying their chutes, the steered toward a large pond, as it was the only clear place. So they all executed what they were trained to do. That was, to unlock your harness and just before hitting the water, drop out, into the water. This was to avoid having the chute come down over you and drown you. Only problem was that it wasn't a pond. It was a parking lot with about 1-2 inches of rain water. As I recall, no one died, but some bones broke.
Also the 60's. Westmoreland had a big interest in recon and how to insert it in hostile territory undetected. Did a night jump from10k into a circular lake. Chutes were modified flats with minimal control compared to current equipment. At altitude we decided that the center of the lake looked good as a target. It was. The quarter mile swim to shore, in boots and dragging the canopy, turned out to be the real test. When the last of us dragged ourselves out of the lake like so many wet rats, the sergeant turned to the officer monitoring this hapless event and said, "All present, sir." He walked off into the night without so much as a nod or a comment. Yeah...that went well.

This would be the day where I burn a day of vacation to go fishing thinking I have the whole lake to myself and then ten dudes drop from the sky with parachutes lol.
And then they yell, from about 20 feet away..."CATCHIN' ANYTHING?"
I jumped off a barge at about 45feet up into the water, & at first i was 💩ing myself, not literally but figuratively. So i can only imagine what the first jump was like for these brave men. But the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on jumps afterwards were truly an amazing feeling, & for these men it looks like it would be 1000x of a greater feeling! Thanks for y'all Service & God Speed & Bless ahead on defending 🇺🇸!🙏✌
Here’s a question for bets, if you are in combat and drop in water, what do you do with the gear after landing?
The thing I remember most about Airborne jumps...how quiet it was up there. 75th Ranger Regiment...Lead the Way!
Now that's a fun jump, shorts, water, rhib pickup, who could ask for anything more!!
With my luck at Bragg, I would have hit the trees, that was my fav at Sicily DZ out of UH1's. Are you guys out of Benning or Hunter 1/75th?
I couldn't do this I'm too scared of heights I almost had panic attack just watching this video.
Ken B. NPB I think you mean RHIB, though I can't say any Ranger wouldn't want a RHIB with baby back ribs aboard to eat after pickup LOL
seriously i would pay to do that lol
They're zodiacs, AKA no hull to speak of.

Salute to every solder in intire country
Would love a black hawk jump! Chinook jumps are always fun, super fast and extremly easy. Beats full CL out of c130 any day haha
I remember jumping into Lake Eufaula, being picked up by zodiacs, and sipping suds with my fellow 3/75 Rangers. Sure do miss those days. RLTW!
Awesome job thanks for keeping America safe.!!
@Hocherlauchter Magus slavery, I want you to look outside and see if there are any slaves well no there is not why the hell would you say that hey I have some advice for you if you don't like this country then leave
we are all slaves cuz we still gotta work our asses off just to survive so he's right about the slavery thing.... not only in the USA but world wide.
Great job guys.
Mistuh E no one HAS TO WORK THEIR ASS OFF. Go start a business and create some wealth nothing holds us back but our minds. We can do so much more than our body and mind says we can. Humans are amazing and can literally do anything once you learn to tell your body and mind to fuck off. When you force the two to work together the sky is the limit.
hum ... I think he was just going for a dip in the lake with his buddies. Not sure how that keeps 'murica safe ?!
So peaceful after they jump.

Hello
I had to look off into the distance to watch the film. It was terrifying to look down. I've got a heart condition called arrhythmia.
This never gets old!!
