3:52 For me, on hindsight, the moment where MVDP wins the race. Letting WVA close the gap to Ganna, so WVA is cooked when he launches his attack seconds later.
That was smart, but I think he would’ve gotten away either way. Since they had tailwind and were climbing and MVDP simply seemed significantly stronger than the others. of course they could have..IF THEY WORKED 100%, when you are alone all you can do is go full gas, if you're in 3 you don't want to tow the others to victory
It isn’t a short track. They’re doing a lot of kilometers and then some climbs on high speeds. And then, in the final, they give it pretty much all on that final climb. So if those TT’ers didn’t have much left and the one who so convincingly dropped them has much left in the tank, then even if those 3 TT’ers work together very well, they won’t catch him. Wva must ride much harder than mvp at bottom of poggio just to get position back, and wva pays for that effort at top of poggio. Mvp v smart and w luck. Wva not smart and unlucky. Fastest ascent of the Poggio ever.
40 km/h!!!
Incredibly fast! Who is your favourite for next year?
Looks like Pogacar gambled on a Poggio breakaway but shot his bolt and couldn't recover.
PS- Cavendish was riding; will he be in the TdFrance this year? He's currently tied with Merckx on 34 TdF stage wins each, so one more stage win will make him the greatest TdF stage winner of all time.
300k in under 6.5 hours?!
It was the second fastest edition! But the fastest was all the way back in 1990!
I guess no one else saw the Italian sandbag from hell today in the last 10k until the final 400 meters 😕
I'm a Danish cycling fan first (great job + results, @kraghsoren, and @Mads__Pedersen) and secondly a fan of
@WoutvanAert - but you got to take your hat off for @mathieuvdpoel
- what a win. Chapeau!
Perfect move by MVDP! No way losing after that attack
MVDP!!
Wout went all out but still can't catch MVP
MVDP is Varmint 🎉🎉🎉
The decisive moment of MvdP`s attack is not shown here - quite disappointing !! Not enough footage of the Poggio really !
Why so short ?
