Mohoric was airborne and fell upside down on his neck on a descent in the *Giro a few months before this. It is difficult to imagine how he was able to prepare himself mentally for this (glorious) attempt.

After the race in the interview for the slovenian national television, Pogacar said that before the race Mohoric told him, Tadej do not try to folow me on the poggio descent.

Excellent analysis & commentary. 150% on point!!! Putting cycling in words for the layman to understand.
    Take home lessons
    1. Dont chase your team mate, let others close it. (Van Aert & Roglic)
    2. Smooth power > Spikes
    3. Communicate
    4. Be tactical - attack when and where the conditions are right, along with your strengths!

Second best thing about Milano-San Remo is that the early part is a snooze and you can skip it. Nibali's normalized power a few years ago was like 120w for the first 2 hours? That's a 'leisurely walk' level of effort for a pro. Best thing about it is how spicy it gets in the final hour. Great recap.

It'll be an interesting race for Pogacar this year. Out of the big favorites, I feel like he's the only one who has proven he is on top form. Having said that, I just don't see Pog attacking hard enough to go clear by himself. UAE need to made this, a race of attrition which San Remo isn't. The harder this race is prior to the Poggio the better it will be for Pog to go clear.

  • @johnmakin-shaw3516

One of my absolute favourite races. The speeds up the Poggio always amaze me - going so fast they have to break in the corners, despite going uphill!
Gutted Pidcock is out of the race this year - he showed at Strade Branch he's got the descending chops to make the most of the run to Via Roma. Will be interesting to see if Alaphillipe and Remco gang up together or whether they fight it out as individuals.

To me, Mohoric this day has narrowly escaped death twice, especially when he dropped into the gutter, he had no vision because he didnt looked forward but into his cockpit, when Pogacar saw that he just gave up and says no I let this crazy man doing his thing but I dont wanna die. That was INCREDIBLE but this is the kind of historic moment you become aware of the amount of confidence you have to put on your destiny

Fantastic climbs, they have everyting a road cyclist needs: altitude, gradient and in the case of Mangart little traffic and great panoramic views. This victory has nothing to do with a dropper Post....he rides like a devil downhill, and the other riders would not take such a risk at the start of the season.....I think the Poggio is to short for Pogi , if the finish would on the top of the mountain...ok , but not on this downhill...I think Pogi, Van Aert,Vingeard etc would not take such a high risk in the downhill like Mohoric last year....fo what for only one race ? The season has still more TDF Giro , Classics, WCS...all this races you can loose if you risk too much on Milano San Remo !
