It's time that we just crown you King of Motorcycles! Loyal two wheeled followers from around the world gather to hear from the oracle bits and bobs of wisdom and knowledge. Thank you!
Your original 1299SL review is one of my favorite bike videos of all time! It really sums up my love for the original panigales. A very well done and timeless classic. Definitely part of the reason why I have a 1299S in my garage right now! Thank you Michael, for being an instrumental part of the motorcycle culture.
Yes. The Ducati looks amazing and special. I nearly bought a BMW HP2 Megamoto in 2008 and every time I see a video like this I regret not doing it - bought a different BMW instead that cost around the same but was actually sensible (is there anything more silly than a 1200cc boxer supermoto wannabe?) and had different kinds of adventures on it. But I still think about that HP2
Your words echo my thoughts, which is why I bought a Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP as my "forever bike". The last of the really fire breathing booming air-cooled 2V's before everything was strangled away.
Instead of waxing lyrics for hours, the presentation here is light weight and yet powerful, just like the bike itself! Thanks Michael, for another great video!
Thanks for another great article.. you are hands down the best motorcycle journalist out there. 👍👍. I was lucky enough to buy a 1299 Superleggera for my 45th birthday in 2018. Unfortunately I don’t have it anymore. It was an absolute amazing bike, with an insane amount of acceleration. I was able to do a few sessions at Barber’s Motorsport Park in Birmingham, Alabama it was an experience I will never forget. My trackday bike is a ‘13 Panigale 1199R that I still have. I thought it was fast until I road the 1299SL.. I’m happy to see Ducati progress and keep pushing the limits and develop the V4, but I will always be a fan of the original Panigale L twin bikes. Their personality makes the much more fun to ride and ride fast. It can be like riding a bucking bull sometimes. Ironically I was trying to buy a V4 Speciale after waiting 7 or 8 months with no direct answer on when I would actually be able to ride it I bought my 1299 Superleggera. Best decision I could have made. 😀
Been on several Ducati trackdays and it never ceases to amaze me how many people turn up with these exotic limited editions. I saw one 1299 Superleggera that was converted to a full track bike - without the lights and other road paraphernalia it’s close to 150kg dry. Oh how I wish I could afford to risk that kind of money on a track toy!
Wow that sounds lovely its got a lovely rasp to it I saw a 1199 superleggera once at my local bike meet number 86 of 500 I'll never forget clapping eyes on that , I knew the 1199 I saw was a special because it was also a numbered run this was 86 ,I hung about but never saw the owner unfortunately, thanks for the detailed review I had no idea just how special these were. I'd love to see a 1299 in the wild
I have this and the Xtrenta, the SL engine is much more the race motor than the RSV V4 even though its 230hp the SL is far more responsive. For 5 years I still cannot just walk past it! With the race system the sound rips of your ears!
Who’s the lucky person that owns this magnificent machine? What a sound that engine makes! The only thing missing in this excellent video are the Arai helmets!
What a stunning motor, can see the passion you have for this bike, still have to say a sports bike and one of this calibre are much more impressive when seen out and about. Keep up the great work 😁👍🏻
Nice video and an Awesome motorcycles… mine had different exhaust here in the USA. the exhaust it arrived with was a low mount exhaust like the 1199SL, the race exhaust was the headers and high mount exhaust. The exhaust on this bike looks like the 1299 Final Edition exhaust. Found it interesting there was two different version. Thanks for the video.
What an awesome motorcycle out of my reach,,but fully appreciate the engineering talent that built in,, and anyone's purchase ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
In August 2018, I was in Mugello with a handful of British-owned Superleggeras on a track day. All five of them over heated after 20 minutes spewing out coolant. Ducati even came down to fix it - and couldn't. Maybe only designed for UK weather.
What a beast! Love it.. Wonder what will happen to the value of cutting edge classics like this in say 20 years time... when IC bikes could well be a thing of the past. Good investment?
I wonder if Ducati would ever make a long stroke L twin engine in the future. Yes it wouldn't rev as high, but it would have massive torque. For the same cc.
🤤Want one but I only have a 10th of the budget. Would love to hear your thoughts on what's the best used big sportsbike to buy for about 7k. Loving this new old bike content btw. What's brought this on Neevesy?
Question: Hi micheal, love your videos keep up the good work! I am looking at a 2011 tuono v4r as my next purchase as my budget does not permit a new model. What is your opinion on the early series of the tuono v4?
Great stuff neevesy, just one note -video resolution seems really low, even though it says 1080p -are you cropping in alot? or is it a 360 camera, a little off putting imo
Kind of ironic isn't it. This beautiful bike is designed for absolute performance, no penny saved anywhere, and that exactly because of that, it will never be used for its designed and intended purpose, or get anywhere near its performance limit. It always makes me a bit sad, that such a beast of a machine will (almost always) be delegated as a thing to look at or show off with, instead of performing its true purpose and what it is good at. And all of that because of this inherent contradiction: what's the point of throwing all the money on the bike to make it faster, if it will never go fast?
Hmmm if I didnt accidentally delete it myself my not too kind words about how it sounds got the flick. Great video and bike though and as I said beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
Well Neevesy I've watched your content for years and have always enjoyed it But and its a big but!! I dont understand the need for more bullsh!t on these collection bikes None of us can afford these and strictly for people who never ride them and only buy them to show off there stupidi##, i mean money! It wears thin my man. If they were ridden fine Same old crap as when you used to write about 916 sps , bimota tesi etc Keep it real man
Akrapovic Michael… A-krAp-Ovic… not AkrOpAvic…. 😂 A gorgeous bike and probably my favourite SL. Isn’t that what Keane Reeves uses as his track rat? There was something odd about the aspect of the video - it looked a bit stretched horizontally - and the resolution looked a bit 80s? Lovely review though. Your bike? 😉😂
Beautiful bike to look at. I imagine if such a person can afford one then they can afford the repeated chiropractor bills afterwards. Your knees are almost higher than your hands.
i didn't know the superlegerra was a twin...I had assumed it was a V4. i looked at a 2023/24 V4R last week at the Ducati dealer here in Orlando...they are asking $47K. with a claimed 234 HP with race kit I think I would rather have one of those than an $85K SL that I see on the aftermarket.
Amazing bike, but, and this is just my opinion, for me it's still the poor cousin of the V4. Ducati's MotoGP-derived V4 engine is a true masterpiece, the V2 is, by it's nature, comprimised. Also, personal opinion again, those exhausts look like such an afterthought, they're fugly as hell!
Just when you thought this dude's content couldn't get any better...❤

Great idea for a Series. Looking forward to the Triumph Daytona 675R :)

Thanks matey! 😊👍
the V-twin 1199/1299 will always be an iconic engine from Ducati..
the rawness is the drama of the wonderful bike...
Wow what an incredible motorcycle that was when it came out! Well
Lets be honest its still as special today 🥰
I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see you review this beast mate !
Yes. The Ducati looks amazing and special. my favourite model of ducati
Great vid as always! Would love to see more retrospectives on the superbikes; maybe an s1000rr through the generations
x2 on the S1000RR retrospective. How about it Mr Neevesy?
Instead of waxing lyrics for hours, the presentation here is light weight and yet powerful, just like the bike itself!
Thanks Michael, for another great video!
Simply the best
EASILY one of my top 5 all-time favorite machines. Great bike to start this series with!
What a bit of kit!!! Would be totally wasted on a mere mortal like me, even if I could afford one. Beautiful none the less.

Nice six minute history lesson! Good video format and easy to digest.
Luvly machine. One very careful owner.
Beautiful beast.
Now that's a surprise! Awesome format! Very entertaining presentation and surely the bike is freaking sick! Thank you!
So much better looking than the V4
This should go viral
It doesn't get much better than that!❤ stunning machine.
I thought that was the 1199 Superleggera that had the orange paint?,what a fabulous bike,Ducati at their best.👍💪👌
I have this and the Xtrenta, the SL engine is much more the race motor than the RSV V4 even though its 230hp the SL is far more responsive. For 5 years I still cannot just walk past it! With the race system the sound rips of your ears!
Extremely cool presentation. Thanks!
Great series idea
Thanks for sharing such a special machine with us!
Who’s the lucky person that owns this magnificent machine? What a sound that engine makes! The only thing missing in this excellent video are the Arai helmets!
Thanks a lot for another great review.
Love the new series already!
Thanks for sharing this one mate, absolutely stunning piece of engineering . That sound at the end pulling off 🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏽😎🔥🔥🔥🔥 what a beast !
This is excellent content Neevesy! Keep them coming!
Magnificent. Thanks for reminding us this beuty
Absolutely gorgeous machine. It would be enough just to look at it in the flesh.
Great stuff!
Awesome video. Incredible machine. Cheers
Brilliant, enjoyed that. I hope you do some more of them. :)
Great video...Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next. Love how you focus on the riding and not the specs.
what a machine! and interesting specs!
That sums it up. What a machine! 😍
Nice new serie of video's ! With our favorite host! and what a splendid iconic first bike this is. lovely.
What a stunning motor, can see the passion you have for this bike, still have to say a sports bike and one of this calibre are much more impressive when seen out and about. Keep up the great work 😁👍🏻

Great vid Neevsy👍, what a bike❤dreaming.......
Good idea for the channel neevsey. Thank you. Look forward to more exotica.
What an awesome motorcycle out of my reach,,but fully appreciate the engineering talent that built in,, and anyone's purchase ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
Nailed another one Neevesy! Brill.
awesome
Brilliant.
Excelent! Yes, that colour is just racing! Well done ducati!
You had me at "tungsten counter-weights" 😍🤣
Ducati 1299 Superleggera - Beautiful & Brutal Machine. It's a Visual Treat ❤️ Big Thumbs up for neevsy 👍👍👍
In August 2018, I was in Mugello with a handful of British-owned Superleggeras on a track day. All five of them over heated after 20 minutes spewing out coolant. Ducati even came down to fix it - and couldn't. Maybe only designed for UK weather.
What a fun video! I hope you get a chance to make a similar video about the Superleggera V4.
I'd love to see a review on the 1199 too!
Ducati brake rotors are made from an incredibly exotic material........Warpium.
Interesting new format for content, borrowed of course. But should have lots of possibilities for subjects. Excellent!!
The sound of that angry v twin is magnificent...
What a beast! Love it..
Wonder what will happen to the value of cutting edge classics like this in say 20 years time... when IC bikes could well be a thing of the past. Good investment?
Genuinely surprised they kept a metal tank
Even my Benelli Tornado LE has a carbon tank, and that was from 2002
I wonder if Ducati would ever make a long stroke L twin engine in the future. Yes it wouldn't rev as high, but it would have massive torque. For the same cc.
Amazeballs :D
The 1299 i wish i could afford. the standard S will do for now. But one day maybe
Wonder if this was the end of an era for pure road legal brutal finesse and awesomeness .......
And no ugly wings....SOLD!
The Honda CBF 1000 FA is surely worthy of "what makes this bike great" 🧐😁🤺
Great video and content, keep up the good work!
🤤Want one but I only have a 10th of the budget. Would love to hear your thoughts on what's the best used big sportsbike to buy for about 7k. Loving this new old bike content btw. What's brought this on Neevesy?
My all time dream bike 😍!
One day, when I win the lottery 🤔…until then my 899 will have to do 😬👍
Question: Hi micheal, love your videos keep up the good work! I am looking at a 2011 tuono v4r as my next purchase as my budget does not permit a new model. What is your opinion on the early series of the tuono v4?
Just knowing they exist makes me ☺
Great stuff neevesy, just one note -video resolution seems really low, even though it says 1080p -are you cropping in alot? or is it a 360 camera, a little off putting imo
UA-cam was probably still processing it when you watched. It’s full res now.
I mean just look at it!!!????
Kind of ironic isn't it. Such a stunning bike. Only thing I’m not a fan of are those wheels.
Top g
Desmoseidici RR next please !!!🙏
Posterbike series, only limit is the imagination or the historical Stafford auction books
Wow look at that rear tire!!!!???? The owner rips that thing!!!!! Wow
Would look well sitting in my garage. 👍
Hmmm if I didnt accidentally delete it myself my not too kind words about how it sounds got the flick.
Great video and bike though and as I said beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
Such an obvious man-crush you have for that bike! Count me in too!
Well Neevesy
I've watched your content for years and have always enjoyed it
But and its a big but!!
I dont understand the need for more bullsh!t on these collection bikes
None of us can afford these and strictly for people who never ride them and only buy them to show off there stupidi##, i mean money!
It wears thin my man.
If they were ridden fine
Same old crap as when you used to write about 916 sps , bimota tesi etc
Keep it real man
I wonder how many miles it'd manage before an engine rebuild?
Akrapovic Michael… A-krAp-Ovic… not AkrOpAvic…. 😂 A gorgeous bike and probably my favourite SL. Isn’t that what Keane Reeves uses as his track rat? There’s my £72k, now give me the keys and I’ll test the IMU by sliding it round this corner…😂
Nothing beats the sound of an angry L twin
Anyone know why they've depreciated so much? So much more than the Desmosedici RR.
Viva la twin
i didn't know the superlegerra was a twin...I had assumed it was a V4. i looked at a 2023/24 V4R last week at the Ducati dealer here in Orlando...they are asking $47K. with a claimed 234 HP with race kit I think I would rather have one of those than an $85K SL that I see on the aftermarket.
Yep, the first two Superleggeras were twins and the current one is a V4 👍
Lots of power and spec but not as beautiful as a 1975 Ducati 750 sport. Cant wait until you find a 1975 750SS to show 💕
2:48 what happened to that fork?
The price? It certainly has a great big price.
The aspect ratio of the Video is wrong , I think. Looks like it's too wide.
Be first bike id buy if won lotto
Amazing bike, but, and this is just my opinion, for me it's still the poor cousin of the V4. Ducati's MotoGP-derived V4 engine is a true masterpiece, the V2 is, by it's nature, comprimised. Also, personal opinion again, those exhausts look like such an afterthought, they're fugly as hell!
Ducati= fix or repair daily
A Wonderful, easy going beginners bike, and also cheap to repair if crashed. 😉
