I unironically love the Hunnic/Mongolian throat singing that plays at the start menu, it really feels foreboding which is what you want in a game about the end of the world
funily enough, i've recently listened to a mongolian metal band that mixes metal with throat singing shizzle..

That hi-res low-res shit at the highest settings always bothered me about Atilla too. I think it's just that the textures are shittily done.

Funny thing is that John was a real historical charecter who's invaded Italy with Belisarius.He was Belisarius' cavalry commander but he was killed by his own men at the end.

Age of Charlemagne is good, it’s probably as close to medieval 3 as we’re going to get for a while
Wish that Theme of Sicily/Byzantines could be used without mods though, but it is excellent.
You should try Age of Charlemagne because it's like Thrones of Britannia except good.

Yay Belisarius was actually quite badass, I recommend reading up on him. He did indeed reconquer North Africa and Italy for the Byzantines under Justinian (albeit not for very long...)
North Africa was Roman untill 698, and Southern Italy until 1071, is say quite long.

You're right about the menu theme in Attila. That's some good music. I actually put that tune on my MP3 player. I listen to it when I'm exercizing. I like to listen to it and picture myself standing on the front line at the battle of the Catalaunian Fields as Attila and his horde of piss stinking barbarians come over a hill on their horses. Attila stinks of piss and is shouting orders to his barbarians, who also stink of piss. The men next to me are wavering because of the stench of pure piss, but I stand there, taller than the rest, willing to die for Rome, and naturally this inspires them not to run away from the stench of piss.

When it said Justinian’s support was ending, I was like “are you fucking serious!? I’m single handedly restoring the Roman Empire for your fat ass, yet you can’t do me the favour of funding the armies I need to do it!?”

I got the Kingdom of Rome trophy but that was the most brutal campaign so far, went anti-clockwise from Africa and eventually settled in Spain. From there, took Africa and then into Italy.

I love this dlc, like real Belisarius. Very easy to fail as romans though, because you have to build economy buildings for the start, or you cant pay to your armies.
