when the wii came out people only really have like 1 television in their houses. The wii really hit the mark for being the go to console for home entertainment that the entire family could get used to
I never thought of it like that before. Before smart phones, cheaper TVs and personalized device's. There really was that "family room" everyone had around the single TV. Interesting
Was legit about to comment how I remembered this being a shitpost channel but here we have this genuine review of something. Very pleased with the direction. I would love more like this, if he's willing to make more of it.
The interesting thing about the Wii is it seems like something you would try with your family once then put it away and never try it again like most products that attempt something like that but my family used WiiSports all the time which just doesnt seem like it shouldve happened
I got an ad before the video for cordless power tools that had a guy saying “It felt comfortable in my hand, light weight and durable. I don’t have to drag any tubes around” and I was fully convinced it was just part of the video until the tubes part
It's simplicity was it's biggest achivement, every console, even freaking tv-remotes are way too hard to figure out for average old people at the time. The wii was literally just a tv remote and you only had to use one button, point and press. No switching source on the tv-remote bullshit. Or fingering some foreign analog stick. Granma just wants to fucking bowl, click on the bowl
It really says something. My hometown had a rec center with a gym and basketball court, and there was a little room with ice hockey and a Wii of all things.
Donkey Country Return for the Wii was the highest dopamine I’ve ever received for a Christmas gift. I didn’t even ask for it or really even want it at the time but it made me so excited. I have fond memories beating all the bosses and a lot of the games you showed were stuff I remember. This was super nostalgic and I loved remembering this stuff. Brawl is my favorite Smash 🔪
Cannot believe you didn't mention Skylanders Spyro's adventure or Pokepark 1/2. The memories I made from those along with all the other games you mentioned is just truly amazing. Awesome vid man. Just went through a huge nostalgia ride.
Everyone has their own story with the wii which I like about it. It's an odd ball system with all the odd amounts of games and appeal it had despite everything seemingly working against it.
The Pokepark games were fun! It was one of the few Pokemon spinoff games I greatly enjoyed! Unfortunately, I heard the 2nd game didn't sell well, which means a 3rd game is highly unlikely.
I remember the first time I played the Wii was at a Six Flags park where they had a full demo area since it just came out. After playing a demo of Twilight Princess on it I instantly fell in love with the console. My family friends had one and for a while that was the only way I could play it. It wasn't until Wii Resort came out when we got the black edition Wii. Good times.
Great video! I have so much nostalgia for the Wii and DS Lite as they were my first console and handheld. The Wii had such a great library along with the virtual console and channels. It really was the best console Nintendo ever made.
when i was young, all my friends and neighbours owned a wii, now i haven't seen a single person in my country own a switch even, so it hits me kind of in a weird way that it passed wii in sales
As someone born in 2007, I grew up in the 3DS/Wii U era. I'm glad I experienced those games however I kinda wish I knew what it was like to grow up on the Wii, it was like a huge craze I was born just slightly too late to experience.
As someone born on 2007, i got a wii as MY first console(my half-brother had a ps3) it was weird seeing thing i couldnt do but new super mario, super mario galaxy and epic mickey were a blast and ofc the classic wii sports tho it still felt weird
Im so glad you brought up how it could run previous gen games, I almost finished Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time when I was like 9 or 10, shit was the best.
To this day, the Wii is still my favorite console of all time, I had so much great memories on that white box that reminds me of better days when life was good
I remember I had this for my entire childhood until 2014 when it became very obvious to my parents that I never play it anymore (due to the Xbox being better). So then they gave it away to my older sister and her child, I was fine with it at first because I didn’t care about it at the time and I thought I could just ask her if I wanted it again for some reason. So then in 2017 I wanted it again, mainly because at the time I was obsessed with nostalgia and nostalgia culture. So I asked my parents if I could have it back, but when they asked my sister she said that they sold it off 2 years before then. I was so mad you have no idea, funny considering I didn’t care at all about it when I gave it away.
I remember, when my home life got flipped and my brother and I moved in with my dad, he bought a huge 73 inch TV, which back then was fucking insane. And he got a wii and a bunch of games. And my brother and I finally settled into our new home, playing Mario party 8 with the entire family. I remember feeling like a cool kid letting my brother win. The wii was the first true successful family friendly console.
i remember my first memory of the wii my mom coming home with it and immediately started playing yoga and talking about how cool it is while i just watched
Seeing the safety warning when you first start the console in color is always really cursed for me. I never connected my Wii to the internet as a kid so I never got any system updates, so it always stayed black and white
Wii era was and still is so good, the catalogue of games are amazing, the community still stay's strong, Wiimifi exists to continue the legacy, the wii has just been tinkered to hell so anything is possible with it, it was and still is the perfect console for quality games to share with friends.
I love the direction this channel is taking, it's so refreshing seeing you talk about stuff you're passionate about without sacrificing the humor that brought me here in the first place, I'm honestly excited to see whatever it is you make next.
My mother won us one in a competition by complete chance. The Wii hype wasn’t so relevant where I live. But yeah that random event lead to hours and hours of fun and fond memories from my childhood. I was definitely lucky to have one. One downside with owning a wii was that every new game you bought was a gamble due to the over abundance of shovelware. When someone bought a wii game for you it was either going to be the funnest game you ever played or the worst. Back in the late 2000s there was this crappy jailbreak going around that you payed some teenager to do for you. It was fun for a week, until I started the boot menu with a disc in the tray, which apparently broke the jailbreak. The games I had the most fun with as I recall Mario galaxy 1 and 2 New super Mario bros Wii sports resort Smash bros brawl Mysims racing (yeah I know it was a stinker but as a kid…) Donkey Kong country returns Cars: Raceorama
i think the fact that i can watch the original commercials so long after they came out and still laugh pretty hard at them speaks to how well nintendo marketed this thing. great vid btw
Literally my second or first ever console was the Wii. I remember having so much fun playing Wipeout 3 and Wii Sports Resort on it (WSR was my favortie). I think I played hours upon that thing. Though it's getting old and might not even work anymore. But I love that thing so much; so many good memories.
There was also new super mario bros wii, we were four on our family so we all played together and we 100% completed the game. It was so much fun, I think it was the first mario where you could play with others at the same time. And you could grab people and kill them. Good times
I absolutely loved the virtual console on the wii, I remember being so excited to get Wii points and I'd spend hours browsing through old titles before I made a purchase! I credit the Wii for giving me an appreciation for classic games and it's a shame the virtual console has never been as good on any newer systems
Not to mention Super Mario Galaxy was revolutionary. Easily one of the best games of all time and set a new standard for what games could and should be. Love that franchise with all my heart
The part of the music from the games is pretty accurate. I love to listen to wii OSTs when im just online talking with friends and it always gives me a sense of comfort
That music nearly made me overdose on nostalgia. Wii sports and Wii play will forever be some of my favorite games ever. I still have my Wii console in good condition and hope to one day play it again. Teaching my little cousins how to play it is going to be fun.
I got to play Wii Bowling with my mom, dad, and grandparents once. It was pretty neat to have a console where you didn't have to explain controls to everyone in order to use it.
why do i always feel such a big amount of joy when i see the old man smile in 9:16 like its just so wholesome seeing the big guy laughing at him with an afro
I love Mario Kart Wii so much that I still play it to this day, trying to do human ultra shortcuts and mostly failing but I love doing it because I know that I can get that satisfying feeling of completing an ultra shortcut without funky Kong. I hope in the next few years to get a pc with better specs than my one, get a better Av to hdmi converter with a good capture card, download Wiimfi and play Mario Kart Wii online like the good old days of 2012 - 2014
At its peak, I’m pretty sure every one I knew had a Wii in their house. I still go over to the houses of friends and family and see their Wii’s tucked deep into their entertainment system next to old vcr’s. Literally EVERYONE was playing the Wii
The wii was really simple and at the time I knew nothing better to play that allowed me to stand up or just shake my arms around. Then have sore arms the next day. We even still play it today at our college. The switch kind of gives that feeling back but not entirely. I also really want play mats to return though for adventure fitness games.
For me the Wii is kinda like when a small indie pop band starts making mainstream music to become more popular, however they lost all those casual fans real quick and there hardcore fans didn't like this new kind of music, so they left. However now people are looking back on those songs with nostalgia, yeah that's basically the Wii in a nutshell.
Had a Wii gifted to me back in 2009ish by my uncle. First and last console I ever owned. (Unless you count Chinese consoles that played Nes/snes game cartridges) Still the best designed Console imo. I remember getting super smash brothers brawl for a birthday. My mom specifically told my aunt Lauren not to get it for me since it was “T for teen” but did my badass aunt listen?? No. Forever grateful for that
I remember that Christmas too Parents had the “got one of the lady ones” at toys r us story We went on a little skiing and snowboarding trip and I just wanted to play Wii the whole time lol Also remember getting some death note manga… my parents were great
The wii is legitimately in my opinion the best console to play with friends. Yeah cod and halo are fun to play on the ps and xbox, but if you want wacky fun, the wii has an uncountable number of games to choose and mess around with
Whenever I went to my neighbor's house we'd play smash brawl and because we were both annoying 7 or 8 year olds we would just button mash as meta knight and scream at each other until one of us fell off the map. Some of my fondest memories were formed that way.
I used my Wii to cast UA-cam to the TV until the DAY they shut off that capability. It sucked but we didn't have a smart TV and being able to watch youtube videos on the TV was crazy to me, even though it was 2016. I think a part of me died the day I opened the UA-cam Wii channel to see that Nintendo no longer supported the service.
The will was the very first game console i got and oh man do i have nostalgia for it, did i suck at it because i was very small, oh heck yeah, but i still loved it
I unfortunately never had a Wii growing up. But I did fortunately got to play with one whenever I visited a friend or relative that had one. I DID however had a WiiU, but that thing wasn’t as fun and I experienced why it flopped 😭
I still use the Everybody Votes Channel so much thanks to RiiConnect24. It's great to have all those channels up and working again, since I grew up with them. Got my Wii for Christmas in 2007, and I still have the same one 15 years later. I love my Wii console so much, and I still get a lot of use out of it.
It’s weird, but I feel more nostalgia for my Wii U, everyone loves the Wii and we all talk about how great it was and still is so I’m kinda desensitized to the nostalgia after years. But the Wii U, no one talks about that, it’s themes haven’t been remixed over and over and played to jam to, it’s definitely less worthy of the Nostalgia but it feels special to me. Miiverse was Awsome too.
As a long term Nintendo fan who was introduced to video games in the late 80's by Duck Hunt/Mario Bros, I think the Wii U is just fantastic. Really I mean it, it has the best games of this generation by far and the gamepad controller is a great time to play with. Just because it undersold a bit due to marketing confusion doesn't mean it isn't Nintendo's finest accomplishment because trust me, it kind of is.
Nintendo Wii: Popular console with wholesome games fun for the whole family. Also Nintendo Wii: Sells grisly, violent action cult classics like No More Heroes and MadWorld.
If this doesn't speak for how much EVERYONE loved the Wii, my Dad was so technology strict that he forced me to have a flip phone that couldn't download apps at the age of 17, and even HE owned and played the Wii!! Now if that doesn't scream successful console, idk what does!
Holy fuck I totally had my horse and me I had forgot about it completely, what a weird memory. Don’t remember what the game was like at all, probably was busy playing Zelda or something
Ok, hear me out. It's 2022, and the future is NOW. What we need is Wii Dark Souls, with Wii Motion Plus control. Important Features: 1. Play the game as a Mii 2. Summon Tingle to fight bosses 3. ??????????? 4. Runs faster than the remaster on my PC
when the wii came out people only really have like 1 television in their houses. The wii really hit the mark for being the go to console for home entertainment that the entire family could get used to
color me confused, is >2 TVs the new average in a family house?
Yeah exactly. Me and my brother spent hours playing the Wii together.
I never thought of it like that before. Before smart phones, cheaper TVs and personalized device's. There really was that "family room" everyone had around the single TV. Interesting
With the Switch a handheld and having the Lite as an option, you can up that to as high as one system per person.
@@adamkoralewski2710 yeah man even my poor friends each got a tv in they're home and I'm my own we've got at least 1 per person
This dude has evolved so much. He used to make shitposts about how to be a weeb and now this! Good job Aztroman, keep it up!
Was legit about to comment how I remembered this being a shitpost channel but here we have this genuine review of something. Very pleased with the direction. I would love more like this, if he's willing to make more of it.
Nah, more like a trending meme topic related channel.
He used to do overwatch
agreed, quality content
The first video I watched from him was his vaporwave video back in 2015. Good times
The interesting thing about the Wii is it seems like something you would try with your family once then put it away and never try it again like most products that attempt something like that but my family used WiiSports all the time which just doesnt seem like it shouldve happened

Brawl may be broken if you systematically pick apart the game to determine the optimal way to play.
But for casual players it’s just so FUN
My grandma bought me that donkey Kong game and yes, I had the greatest memories playing those games
I have the same story. Didn't want it and honestly didnt like what I had seen of the game in trailers and stuff. I finished it the day after I got it.
@@ZemanTheMighty can you elaborate more on this comment?
Cannot believe you didn't mention Skylanders Spyro's adventure or Pokepark 1/2. The memories I made from those along with all the other games you mentioned is just truly amazing. Awesome vid man. Just went through a huge nostalgia ride.
I miss pokepark
Everyone has their own story with the wii which I like about it. It's an odd ball system with all the odd amounts of games and appeal it had despite everything seemingly working against it.
Pokepark 1 and 2 are legit the only pokemon games I've ever finished
The Pokepark games were fun! It was one of the few Pokemon spinoff games I greatly enjoyed! Unfortunately, I heard the 2nd game didn't sell well, which means a 3rd game is highly unlikely.

Hard agree. Ya boi has come a long way, and I'm proud to see that evolution take place.
Love that his video essays aren't unnecessarily long and he keeps it entertaining

My jam was playing Pokemon Battle Revolution. Taking my favorites from Diamond, Platinum, Heartgold and putting them onto the big screen was awesome.
Love the direction you’re taking the channel Aztro, keep it up.
1:08 man.. holy crap just gotta slap my childhood in the balls like that
Go Vacation was my family’s favorite game on the Wii. It’s like a Wii Sports with more things you can do in the game world.
I have thousands of memories playing Wii sports and the multiple lego games like the complete saga
on the picture with all the shovelware there was DeBlob which was my childhood, I beat that game probably 4 times, it was just so colorful and fun

I still remember getting this for Christmas years ago and playing tennis against my dad in Wii Sports. Good times
You just basically define my childhood. The Wii wasn't an xbox 360, but it was fun.

My favorite Wii games would be RE4, Wii Sports, Twilight Princess, No more heroes, Madworld, Xenoblade.
Also played COD games on it.

Yes it was much weaker than the Ps3/360 and the motion controls were janky it didn't bother me much.

there was a certain look and feel to it that modern things can never do. that's why i respect it so much.
Epic Mickey is GOATED bro, don't forget that one
6:25 in disbelief that de blob is being counted as shovelware garbage

the good old days

Just because it undersold a bit due to marketing confusion doesn't mean it isn't Nintendo's finest accomplishment because trust me, it kind of is.
Love this video but putting de blob on shovelware is insane
Bro I love smash bros brawl that campaign was amazing
Nintendo Wii: Popular console with wholesome games fun for the whole family.
Also Nintendo Wii: Sells grisly, violent action cult classics like No More Heroes and MadWorld.
so sad to see your videos not doing numbers they deserve
Super Mario galaxy was and is one of my favorite games
Did you seriously just lump De Blob in the same bracket as Wii shovelware? You take that the fuck back de blob was a masterpiece
If this doesn't speak for how much EVERYONE loved the Wii, my Dad was so technology strict that he forced me to have a flip phone that couldn't download apps at the age of 17, and even HE owned and played the Wii!! Now if that doesn't scream successful console, idk what does!
Video suggestion: If Aztrosist ran EA (and how he would fix them)
I played Call pf Duty on it. It was... an experience.
Holy fuck I totally had my horse and me I had forgot about it completely, what a weird memory.
Don’t remember what the game was like at all, probably was busy playing Zelda or something
Nostalgic? It only came out... 16... years... ago....
Best times of my life
when the brawl theme played i almost cried lmfao
Ok, hear me out. It's 2022, and the future is NOW. What we need is Wii Dark Souls, with Wii Motion Plus control.
Important Features:
1. Play the game as a Mii
2. Summon Tingle to fight bosses
3. ???????????
4. Runs faster than the remaster on my PC
super paper mario was a masterpeice
watching him choke in mario kart at the beginning was painful
Man wtf?? Why are Toy Story 3 and de blob on the list of shovel wear games??
They are genuinly gems!
