Hey Nick, I'm always glad to see you giving Grape Ivy its dues because so few people give it the time of day. I have noticed Amanda from Planterina bringing it up every now and then lately, so hopefully between the two of you the word will get out. This plant used to be quite popular because it's in the background of just about every old movie, and it deserves to be again!
I had a grape ivy 25 years ago and I was surprised at how hard it was to find again. I finally found one and it gives, it’s one of my favorite old school plants. I love my little Pelonia pulchra it’s such a sweet plant tho a little dramatic.
I literally JUST bought a new 4” peperomia tetragona like 30 minutes ago at one of my favorite plant markets in Union Square in NYC. It was probably my favorite plant and it was thriving for 2 years until it suddenly shriveled up and dropped all its leaves recently 😢 so glad I have your stamp of approval on my purchase!
Love my rhipsalis, I got it from a a neighbor who was moving out this year. If flowered over the winter! If you can get a holiday cactus to flower, treat your rhipsalis the same and it should flower too.
Hi Nick! Glad to see you in good spirits and hope you are doing better than in the last video. Loved this video and love the topics you choose for your videos.
Hi Nick! I want to find all of the trailing plants you showed. LOL! I used to have grape ivy many years ago and would love to find another one. I love the look of Rhipsalis. The Pellionia pulchra is so pretty. I love how tight the growth is. I will definitely be on the lookout for these. Thank you so much for sharing!
A couple of months ago I found a Hoya lacunosa at Lowe's (thanks Costa Farms) but I think it's either a lacunosa splash/snow caps or a lacunosa royal flush! It's got the silver variegation and some dark leaves!
Loved this video and seeing all these plants. Such a treat, as always! 😊. Like you, I find plants in small pots to be charming. I enjoy you diverse collection of plants and in my opinion this is on of your channels best attributes. Always a joy!! 👌🥰🪴
Thank you so much for featuring the kalachoe fedtschenkoi. I have been trying to identify my plant for a year. None of the online images that I have viewed of that plant have the 20 inch trails and numerous aerial roots of my plant. I have styled mine in a China pot inserted into a 14 inch tall terra cotta wine chiller. It looks great and is one of my favorites. Have also propagated a few more.
Thank you for reminding me about rhipsalis...such a funky trailing plant. The growth habbit reminds me a little bit of my ric rac cactus which I absolutely adore for its wackiness. I need to add more whimsy to my houseplant collection. #Goals.
I have had english Ivy for over 2 years indoors in Canada (Zone 4) winters, and they have been wonderful plants with no pests whatsoever. My Alocasias and Colocasia on the other hand are spider mite magnets!
The genus _Kalanchoe_ got its name from the Chinese name reported in 1704 as "Kalanchauhuy". There is some debate about the first part but the ending is almost certainly 菜, pronounced "choi" in Cantonese and meaning vegetable/plant. The same word used for vegetables like bok choy (or pak choi) and choy sum. So the best pronunciation would be Car-lan-choi or Ka-lan-choi. The Kalankoee pronunciation comes from a mistaken presumption that the name is from Greek.
I really love Cissus rhombifolia! It is close to the perfect trailing houseplant i my view. Very easy and low maintainence. I had one many years ago, and I want a new one! I might have to pay a visit to an old lady I know, I know she has it. :D
Omgoodness I said my H. lacunosa smells like cat pee on a fb group and just about got canceled from the group. Lol now I have gotten used to it and don’t think it smells like 😺pee. Glad to see I’m not alone.
I Have A Grape Ivy And I Keep Looking At It And Wondering How Easy It Would Be To Propagate it. A Better Idea Might Be To Make A Trip To Lowes To See IF They Have Some Right NOW!!! I DIDN'T Get An Answer Before... And I Know Amazon Makes Mistakes That's Why I Was Trying To Find A Way To Doublecheck... BUT I Will Use Your Link Again Nick To Purchase 2 More Of Those Amazon Basic Plant Stands!!!

Funny how you say Kalanchoe are practically un-killable LOL I've never been able to keep one alive until recently! Maybe it was due to the fact that I was in Northern Ontario so it was not the best zone, but more likely it's due to the fact that I hadn't realized they are a succulent. I'm now in Southeastern Ontario and keep my kalanchoe in a clay pot and relatively dry and it is thriving! Ahh all the planty things to learn :)
Oak leaf ivy, yes! The one I have is beautiful and it almost was dead a year ago….. English ivy on the other hand, die in my arms…. So I stopped buying them,,,gave up. I was hoping I would hear something about propagating the oak leaf ivy though. I’d like to cut mine back and make some new plants. 🤷🏼♀️
I love my hota lacunosa. I think the leaves are stunning. I was given a cutting which is doing very well. I love trailing plants. I need a better way to house them. I will work it out
Great video but that seems to be a Hoya Krohniana, since the leaves are so uniform. It used to go by Heart-leaf Lacunosa but has been given its own name now.
Well, now I’m freaking out about my English Ivy. I was given a cutting at the end of last summer and it’s grown so much that I’ve propped it twice. No spider mites yet.
If it's too wet, take it out of its pot, dust off soil, and cut out the rotten (black soggy mushy) roots, and use new soil in a new pot or sanitize the old one pot. If it's too dry, it might be too late but cut off almost all the foliage and keep watering the stump and roots. Or salvage whatever green growth is still healthy and propagate it. Good luck!

Nick. Just as you start I find myself smiling. Just you starting a video is great to me.
I'm so happy you mentioned the grape ivy! I've had mine for years and it's so easy to propagate.

That's very interesting. I'm one to pronounce it like it's Greek but only because I think it's fun to say 🤷🏻♀️
@@grat2010 Pronouncing the end in Cantonese(ish) is more fun. You get a rising tone and it is almost choi-ee.

Such a perfect time…my tetragona is growing rapidly and looks limp I dont know what to do and i didnt know she is a trailing plant…sooo thank you.
Nice plants! I didnt realize the 2nd plant vines out.
I am looking for the best option for a hanging planter in my bathroom. I am thinking the Pellionia may be a great option since it likes humidity.

We need a “large statement plant” video
Nick, I do enjoy your plant videos and love all your plants. ? Is that a plumeria or madagascar jewel on the shelf behind you?
I love your videos
Could you please include a note as to whether a specific plant is toxic to pets when you present it?

you have some very cute pots, where do you get them usually?
Ohh, I just bought a Rhipsalis baccifera for $3.99, a little 2 inch pot.
Please take a look at Nick Alexander's plant videos.
Your pricing is extremely low for Northern California . Good video.
