Congratulations! Honey is beautiful and I love all the tips you gave during the video. I love the playpen idea. She is still part of everything but safe and Bella then has her own time and space. So excited for you and can’t wait to see more video ❤
Congratulations!! The first month I felt like we were constantly taking our golden pup out to potty. We had to rearrange our schedule to fit her needs. Luckily we were still teleworking. At night we found she needed to be close to us so we moved her crate closer to us and she settled right down. The first night we had 15 minutes of crying, to the point I thought my neighbors might hear her. 😮 then I felt guilty for taking her from her littermates. Thankfully she potty trained quickly and learned to love us as much as she did her brothers and sisters. Can’t wait to see honey and Bella grow up together. ❤
This was such a great video that gives you a realistic look of what your first weeks will be like. Being consistent and diligent about what is expected of the puppy. Will make life a whole lot easier.
She’s beautiful Erin I’m contemplating putting a deposit on a mini down the road I still have 2 senior maltesses that are 12 and 14 so i won’t do it till one goes over the rainbow 🌈 because threes too much for me lol! Question I also have a beautiful extremely well behaved Himalayan cat a year old. Does this breed get along well with cats? thx Dawn
Hello Erin I love having a routine. When I got my dog, he was eight weeks old and I had him on a routine from day one. To this day he’s on the same routine and I love it. It’s amazing for him and I. Your new puppy honey is absolutely beautiful.
Potty in the mulch is a great idea! Our last dog would poop in the woods but he'd pee as soon as he'd hit the grass before he went to the wooded area. Can't wait to see Honey in more videos.
Our puppy HATED the crate so we never did crate training and instead he slept in his puppy play pen. We took him out every hour and had tons of positive reinforcement and he was potty trainined in about a week. Now of course there were times I was working and couldn’t take him out every hour but I had a pee pad set up in his play pen which he used a couple of times that first month but overall potty training was so easy with our golden doodle. He loves attention and treats so when he learned he got that when he went outside and ignored up when he went inside he figured it out quick! My biggest mistake was waking up in the morning and taking him out of the pen for a cuddle and he peed all over the floor! Then I learned immediately after naps and sleep to go directly outside!
Great video! I’m so glad you showed just how MUCH work (besides fun) getting a puppy off to a good start can be. The time involved is all consuming (from early morning until bedtime.) Commitment, communication, consistency - three “c” words to successful puppy training. You had your training tools all prepared and set out. A puppy corral, a crate, toys, and a bed for sleeping helps a new puppy understand boundaries. Honestly, this was one of the best and common sense vlogs I have seen on the reality of puppy training. Thanks so much!
They’re so cute definitely they have the teddy bear look! 🥰 is so funny see the difference of size from Charlotte and Ripken’s litter when they go down the stairs 😅 Honey is adorable is wonderful when all family members are part of the training process that is a huge win and everyone is on the same page with the puppy schedule ❤
This is a good video to show prospective buyers what is involved in raising a puppy. Of course most people are not as busy as you are but puppies take time and consistency and plenty of patience.
Honey is so beautiful 😍 We got first ever dog, a puppy, Jan 2022. It was way more overwhelming than I anticipated, even though I had a pretty experienced friend to call up when I had questions. The one thing we did try to do was stick to a schedule, which eventually helped it feel less overwhelming. We got lucky for sleep though - our puppy had gotten used to sleeping in a crate with her sister at the foster home before we adopted her, and even though she missed her sister at first (we got a blankets with her scent on it, but didn’t know about snuggle puppies or heating pads then), she did great with overnights really early on. We were grateful for that!
My one suggestion is think long and hard about potty training a puppy in late January/February in Canada, didn’t think about how quickly my fingers would start to freeze in -30°C (sometimes colder!) waiting for her to pee 😬
We have a soft coated wheaten terrier! The best item we got from the family who raised her to 8 weeks is the crate puppy! Our Lacey still sleeps with "Mocha" and she is 2.5 y.o. She grab her puppy and put it on the couch when she wants to sleep there. Lacey grabs it and carries it with her back to bed at night! She doesn't sleep well without it. We are blessed with our scwt and lucky to have her Mocha to help her sleep better/well! The crate stuffed animal with the heartbeat and the cushioning makes it so much easier for her at night! It's great for us to have it to help her sleep, but so much more, she feels safe with Mocha being there at night! Best gift for all of us! ❤❤❤❤🧸 ❤❤❤ totally works to keep her calm when she drifts off to sleep! ❤❤❤❤
The prices dog breeders charge to adopt a dog are over the top. I am getting a goldendoodle and I will be getting him/her from a legitimate pet shelter.
@@DoodlesofNC I just dont get how breeders get away with charging $3,000 for a doodle puppy but at a shelter that he gets spayed, microschiiped and also vaccinated it's around $500. I cannot pay $3,000
Hi Erin and JP! I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery yesterday. I came home today and have to rest. This video is exactly what I needed!!!! I really enjoy your videos and have a question. How do you teach a dog who is always in your lap, that it cant be for a while?
Hi I love your videos I just subscribed! I wanted to know where you got the gallon water dispensers and the pad potty trays from? I’m getting a new puppy soon ready for pick up in September, and I really like the ones you have. There are so many to choose from but yours seem really easy to regulate and notice. ❤😊
Do you like the chicken feeder better than a bowl for water? We have a bucket we use and I have tried a bowl but the puppies always seem to want to play in the water.
Do you not offer water at all times while Honey is getting potty trained? My dog roams free inside the house while we are gone and always has access to water. Honey is so cute. I like her markings.
Hi, I have a question! Do you ever do consultation calls or emails with families considering getting into breeding? My wife and I finally have a home that can facilitate a dog breeding business and are giving it serious thought. We would love to be able to ask you some questions!
I dont understand... if you breed them in your home, how is the puppy a 'new puppy'? the breeding dogs "in your home" are not part of your family? just breeders?
She got to participate in everything, her new play pen, new collar, going on walks and being with our other dog full time. It was exciting for them to do these things. They saw her every day since birth but still different.
The age of 8 to 12 weeks a puppy’s maturity level is all set for the training it needs in a new home environment. You do an excellent job getting your “breeder” pups ready for the next level of training they need when they go to their new homes. The puppy you kept is no different. It will be a permanent member of your family that needs to continue training to fit your family routine. I can’t understand the reason someone would not understand that. Thank you again for bring an excellent breeder and puppy trainer. It’s hard work!
😬I’d be so afraid to use a heat pad with a puppy…we just got a 1 year old 5 lbs puppy and he was so mad we crated him at night that he chewed wholes in all the blankets in the crate…if it were a heat pad he would have been electrocuted….just beware of that sweetie. 😬
I am so glad you brought that up. I think it’s really important to see if your dog is a big teether, so far honey hasn’t been so I feel ok with it . But thank you!
Hi,there. Since have not have your relply. I wanna recheck if you have interests to have youtube collabs.According to your videos, they could get to know the real purpose of caring for dogs.
I’m a little lost so your new puppy that looks eight or 10 weeks old or older was a breeding of your own? So if you had this puppy since birth, why do you have to re-introduce and wide your children seem like they haven’t seen this puppy I’m sorry I’m just a little lost and I don’t watch your UA-cam all the time.
Hey! Thanks for watching. The girls were pumped to bring her inside . She’s been with her litter for the first 8 weeks. So we got to do fun things like give her the collar, and Bella plays with all the puppies but this one is staying. So it’s important to reintroduce them. Hope it clears up any confusion.
@@DoodlesofNC so are you saying the puppies were away from you and your home till eight weeks old? How are they in your house where you touch them played with them and they got to see their puppy grow up from birth to eight weeks.
No. She breeds the puppies; they live in her home until they go to their permanent home. Honey stayed with her litter and was treated the same as the other puppies. Now that all puppies from her litter are gone, the girls are spending more 1:1 time with their newest family member. Potty in the mulch!! Awesome idea!! Just curious - what do you do to ensure the mulch doesn't stink like urine...??
It just doesn’t seem too. There’s grass under the mulch. So I guess it just seeps in!
I almost wet myself. Very nice toys!
Haha thank you so much!

Thanks so much for subscribing! I got them off of Chewie, they are chicken water feeders
All the puppies were cute. How did you decide which one to pick?
I ended up picking the one that was the calmest. Wavy fur and enjoyed being held but not needy.
When you took both litters out together how do you tell them apart to put them back in their area? (Love ur channel btw!)
If the litters have the same colors on, I put zip ties on one litter around their collars!
Do you like the chicken feeder better than a bowl for water? We have a bucket we use and I have tried a bowl but the puppies always seem to want to play in the water.
Yes!!! It helps so much!
@@DoodlesofNC where did you purchase? How much water does ot hold?
I got mine off of chewy! It holds a gallon
Do you not offer water at all times while Honey is getting potty trained? My dog roams free inside the house while we are gone and always has access to water. Honey is so cute. I like her markings.
We don’t offer water full time when we are potty training. Eventually it will be out all the time.
You said you teach the dogs to potty on the mulch so how often do you have to replace the mulch?
Between 6 months and a year.
What name brand of kibble do you use for your personal dogs?
Fromm whitefish
So what happened with puppy Honey with all the rain 🌧️ on Thursday Friday and Saturday?
We took her out with an umbrella!!!! 😝😝

You’d want to find a breeder with parents that size. Or past litters that have proven to have puppies that small. I’d love to help!
You use mulch for your potty area. Does it smell over time?
No since it’s outside. But it’s like 25ft by 40ft . And i pick up the poop regularly!
