I'm not going to give the family a hard time, but I think a lot of people just don't realize how hard work it is raising a young puppy. It's like raising a child, but with 10 years all smushed into a year. There will be poo. There will be talking back. There will be nibbles in places you don't want nibbles. There will be babysitting and reorganizing your life around the puppy. There will be crazy zoomies and eventually play dates. They are not arm ornaments :). And they have an insane amount of energy! But it's so worth the effort.
To your point, which is why a lot of people struggle with large breed work dogs(Pyrenees, St. Bernards, Newfies). They are cute on youtube videos but a lot of work in reality. Also, you really need the physical space to accomodate them. Their not stuffed animals!
Aww thanks BusyBeTee. We are so thankful for the opportunity to work with so many wonderful families. Some times this happens but they made the right decision even though it was a very hard one to make. Sadie has been so much fun to work with.
@@DoodlesofNC I would much rather someone bring a puppy back to me rather than just feel "stuck' with it. I wouldn't want them to keep a puppy that either the puppy or them were not well-suited to each other.
Yes she’s a good breeder , and that person was responsible but there are millions out there that are not , not including average families having litters upon litters , unfortunately, they will not all have the same outcome!, Feel it’s about being responsible!, people and breeders are making babies over and over again , and a lot end up, abused and abandoned , when we have so many Pets in Shelters begging for a chance for a life and a forever home , a lot get euthanized every min of every day , including kittens and puppies , because we have an over abundance in this world !, I feel we need to encourage people to get their PETS FIXED! It’s super cheap , cheaper than having tons of babies !, let’s help , not add to this severe atrocity . Save pets lives !, ♥️🙏🏾
Yeah totally! I got my pup pretty late. He was already 14 weeks and even it was an adjustment for him and my family. Its not just a 24 hour care but I was also telling my small daughters that the puppy doesnt know we are "his people" yet. He has spent the majority of his life so far with his mother and the breeder's family raising him and now he is in a new environment. Thats a shock for anyone, on top of not knowing how to communicate, and also not having the wisdom and understanding of an older dogs. You need to have a lot of patience for sure.
I get why it’s too much for some. I had serious puppy blues the first few weeks with my lab, but she just turned 1 year old, is super smart, funny and playful and now I can’t imagine life without her!
I must admit 5/6 days after getting my new puppy I had severe doubts. Had I done the right thing? What if my old girl wouldn’t warm to him? Was I enough for him? Etc etc. I went one way then another for a couple of days but decided to keep him. He’s now 5 months old and it was definitely the right decision- he’s well behaved (most of the time) and brings such joy. I think it’s only natural that that anxiety kicks in- you’ve been building up to this moment and then he’s there with crying, peeing, pooping and nights of broken sleep! Glad they brought her back to you though
Aine, thanks for sharing your experiences. Im so glad you pushed through the hard parts of puppy training. Its not always fun and at times can be defeating. I really appreciate you sharing! Hope you have a great week!
Yep. Honestly puppies have to be cute because they’re so much work.. I’ve had two Labrador puppies, and they are so different from one another. My first one had normal puppy biting ofcourse but man, my second one had absolutely no bite inhibition and it became really upsetting for me at times. My first one never barked either, my second one would stand there yelling at me constantly and then snapping and I genuinely wondered wether she was just gonna be agressive. Anyway, with training training training she’s turned into the absolute sweetest baby. But we’re all in agreement that if she’d gone to a family that didn’t have the time to be so constant with it she’d have been one of those labradors Given up to a shelter for being too crazy and too much for them. It’s amazing ti see how she’s turned out with me, and I am proud of that, but it really was very hard when she was little. Puppy stage is very cute at times, but I definitely prefer them when they’re past that stage and more trained.
I just signed up for this, and I remembered that it's not easy, but I had forgotten the feelings and doubt. Thank you for the reminder, as well as the reminder that it passes and that they are worth it!
Wow. I have a hard time understanding how a family brought her back. She’s still a very young puppy. People have to understand training takes time and every puppy is different and every command is different. With my dog, some commands he understood within a few minutes and others, it took sometimes days or even weeks before he totally understood. Tricks like shake and speak, took him nearly a month but he got it eventually. My boy is very intelligent. Stubborn at times but I just love him.
I know a lady that has two of these dogs like them...they are so badly behaved . Does she think they come fully trained or is she lazy. A man i see every morning has a HUGE dog and he's not a year old.. what a well trained dog he has...he's off the lead when walking....ignores other dogs when out and...he's fantastic...I saw him when they first got him and he did all the usual puppy things...six months later ...he doesn't even have to be told to sit near the curb.....the dog absolutely adores his owner...never seen a dog stare at his owner with such love whilst waiting for his command to cross the road....
You don’t know their circumstances. Don’t judge them. They did the right thing by returning him. They showed a lot of courage to release him. We ALL have gone thru a period of time in our lives when we think is this the right thing to do? I bet they feel badly as well.
I really hate when people get a dog without really thinking it through. A puppy is a lot of work and they should realize that Sadie’s behavior was perfectly normal for a puppy. But I am glad that they only kept her for a week so now she can hopefully go to a much better forever home. People need to know a dog is a commitment to their lifespan, which could be 15 years or more.
Clearly I don't know what the situation in the household was. However, a person who's never raised a puppy would probably not have any true idea of just how challenging it could be. To accept that they were in over their heads and return the puppy to the breeder was the best thing for the puppy.
Wow, they were never going to cut it as dog owners if one week of separation anxiety issues did them in! Glad they returned her while she's still little and easily rehomed to a more knowledgeable family.
The separation anxiety was exhausting. My Doodle is 6 months now but weeks 8 -12 she would scream and cry, whenever she wasn't in her crate, and couldn't see me. I just reminded myself that she is a literal baby and alone = death. She would lose her mind even though I work from home and her playpen was not even a foot away from me. We just practiced lots of me stepping out and then back and then one day she didn't care that I left the room to go get something lol.
Poor mother. So many births. She's going to die young if she continues to be impragnated so these people can sell her puppies. It's sad that this is a business for some people. Imagine impregnating women just to sell their infants, and then doing it all over again and again and again. Please find a new business. Thank you.
@@dukheelee7904 well in nature they would be getting pregnant every heat. As long as mother is properly cared for and retired no later than 6 she’ll be fine and go on to live a happy healthy life for years
I get cats and puppies young , 4 weeks at some cats , and dogs asap. Best to raise them up !!! If you have the time . Potty train for me is old fashion . Yes pads, instead of news paper ! But watch them , and scoop them up as you see they looking and run them outside ! Of course treat them . I don't think my chiweenie was touched much by humans , last pick of her litter ! She had big feet ! Lol . Soo in love as we brought her home .
I agree, i've always had the breeder hold my pup till almost 12 weeks. I really feel the pups need socialized with the mother and other pups to be well rounded. The pup doesn't seem to be so needy when taken away from it's litter.
A new puppy is “hard work”…after 30 years of dogs, we had forgotten how hard it is…especially as a senior citizen. But, we have made it to 4+ months old with our new Australian Labradoodle and she is quite well mannered…we hope to train her to be a therapy dog now that the hospitals etc are opening back up. A new puppy takes LOTS of patience and time. I agree with all the other comments….thank goodness they returned to you rather than reselling or worse.
If the people had kids that made the puppy wild… I can understand. My boys would just grab the puppy and run an scream. When my kids were little there was no way I could have a puppy.
So would they give a child away because it is too much work? Did they think it was going to be a perfectly behaved robot? Maybe this was their first puppy.
They had her for a week and returned because it's to much?...They need to adopt a senior...People are lacking of commonsense now days. Of course she's a lot of work (9 weeks old) just a puppy....
Sadie reminds me of my own doodle girl, now 7 months. It breaks my heart she was returned but luckily they had the courage to bring her to you and not leave her to misery or resell. Admittedly, a lot goes on with a puppy and I had a moment questioning my own decision owning a dog but I think that's only natural. Once the basic house training is done the clouds lift and there's literally just pure joy, i hope Sadie found wonderful owners 💕😊
New to this site!I am so surprised they brought her back because of transition anxiety in a puppy! They must have had unreal expectations .They at least returned her with was their saving grace.I bet you They did not have the first clue on taking care of a puppy! They are very much like babies in needing their needs met and feeling safe and a routine. I bet they were either a young married couple or an older married couple.
Yes, I am a little dumbfounded as to what they would have expected with getting a new puppy ?? And after only a week, I duno ... It just seem to always surprise me when ppl don't realize what getting a puppy means. I duno, glad they returned her so she can find a loving home.
Jana, you're right. They were overwhelmed and panicked on not knowing what to do. Im glad Sadie came back and she is now with a great family! Thanks for watching!
I laugh. After losing my 21 year old quiet, smart, beautiful angora cat I decided to get a little toy puddle. Culture shock. We are doing beginners 101 puppy training again because i flunked the first round. My house is her crate and she cries and barks if I leave. But…I’m learning and loving!
meanwhile I am babying my new shih poo by staying by her side 247 and slowly trying to potty train and crate train her. She's a champ, but she's also an infant just like a human baby. I hate that so many ppl don't know what puppyhood is like :(
I don't know how anyone could give up that cute little girl! For me, the first two weeks were tough with my labradoodle puppy, but I never thought of giving him up. Once we settled into a routine, it was so much easier. We eventually gave up crate training at 4 months because it wasn't working for us and he was fine around the house unsupervised as long as we blocked off non-puppy proofed areas. He's going to be 7 months soon and he is almost a perfect puppy. He hasn't had an accident in almost 3 months and the only thing he gets into is paper so we keep that far away from his reach.
I got my lab puppy at 12 weeks and he’s perfect. I think it’s actually better i left him there longer as the owner let him socialise with loads of his other dogs, his brothers and his mother. It depends on the breeder though, they might neglect them for a few weeks if you choose to leave it longer.
@@DoodlesofNC no problem! I heard loads of negative things about getting a puppy later than 12 weeks - like not being able to bond to them and socialise them etc but it’s just completely rubbish. You seem like the perfect pooch breeder
Like everyone has said I'm glad they brought her back to you & understood that they weren’t cut out for it as it really is a full time job being a dog mama. I remember when I got my pup the first month i was sobbing thinking i made the wrong decision, i feel like i hear mothers (to humans) say the same things sometimes haha. The biggest thing I learned when I got my pup was patience, things take consistency and time. She’s a bit over a year now and although she still can rebel, i wouldn't trade her for the world.
I completely agree. Raising a puppy is a full time job! After some time, it’s so rewarding seeing them learn and grow. You’re right, patience is key! Thanks for sharing.
I was the exact same way when I brought home my little boy. I had watched videos on puppy training, read books, researched online, spoken with breeders and trainers -- none of it can prepare you for the real thing. It was so overwhelming and challenging, I cried for several days, and I wanted to contact the breeders to return him. However, I was kind of 'forced' (not by them of course, but through other circumstances) to stick with it. Now, I am so glad I didn't ask them to find a new home for him. He's still only 8 months old, but even in that time he has changed in a lot of ways. Still a lot of puppy behaviour, but he is my little light and joy! It's just the most wonderful feeling every morning to let him out of his room bright and early, and he's so happy to see me, whole body wiggling and rolling over for tummy scratches. (Still. The next time I choose to adopt, I think I might get a senior dog. Haha!)
I had a similar experience with my puppy for the first few months. I have wanted a dog for such a long time (for over 20years, since I was a child, but my parents never let me get a dog). So during my childhood to young adulthood I have researched and researched, read books, watched videos about taking care of dogs/ puppies, and training them, volunteered at helping out with puppy classes a large rehoming organisation, etc. Even with all that knowledge, it did not really prepare me for what having an actual puppy was like, especially within the 1st month. I was very sleep deprived and went through something I found out called "puppy blues"? But I kept going with training, and taking care of her (I swear my puppy was on another level of crazy! lol, apparently she was the naughtiest out of her littermates, the breeder said...) and I have learnt I needed much more patience than I had, and I know I had a lot of patience to begin with, as most people has told me... And I'm so glad I stuck to it, because now, 2yrs and a half later, even though she still makes me mad at times, and not as affectionate a dog as I would like, but she makes me so proud at other times with all the time and effort I have put into training her, and I also wouldn't trade her for anything.
@@kuroneko23hikari81 it’s incredible how you can go from wondering what you’ve done and thinking you’ve made the wrong decision to never trading it for the world, i felt the exact same way with my pup. i researched all i could, but dear god nothing prepares you for the real life thing 😂 she’s my partner in crime and it’s hard to imagine i could love anything more than her now.. it’s incredible what it teaches you
Hey Kamila - I do know certain breeds need that longer time, but these puppies are eager for training and so excited to meet their families at 8 weeks.
This story could hv a not so happy ending. Glad she was brought back to a place that loved her from the beginning. I'm struggling with a new puppy. Even thought of sending him back but I signed up for it & together we will make it.
I just got an havanese puppy Jan 3 2022 9 weeks old. I love ❤️ her so much but I can say its not easy even though I’ve had many dogs and even bred a female golden. Its like having a baby and a huge time commitment to train them. To top it off the north east weather has been awful for me and the puppy. I am definitely conditioned to freezing cold and snow now! I can see how inexperienced owners could easily be overwhelmed. Lucky for me is my puppy took to the crate and playpen ever so easily and slept through the night from day one! I also have a wonderful cat who loves playing with the puppy so makes it a bit easier to burn off some excess puppy energy..
Good a person who gets overwhelmed in a week from a puppy should not have an animal. Wonder what they do if have a baby that cries all the time, messy diapers, never sleeps and only gets harder as they get bigger but a puppy gets better
Over some thinking, I am glad that the puppy was returned. It's better than a shelter and abusing the dog. The person who returned the dog did the right thing.
I never have used a crate. 14year old poodle, 5 years old Doberman, and now Lola, 7 mo old staphie/boxer ....They all use doggy door to fenced huge yard. And potty trained. When I leave? Which I work from home, I usually take Doberman more since hes my Service dog. They do great alone. No shoes 👠 or.anything chewed. I have tons of toys...2 subs to doggy box 📦 monthly .
Golden doodle are very smart and they get trained fast but you need to know how to raise them just like babies from a young age. I can’t believe she was returned I wish I can take her. Just the cutest. My daughter too 2 months maternity leave for just training her an d it paid. We are enjoying her a lot.
I have been retired about 7 yrs now. I spend a lot of time home in my apartment.l felt It was time for me to get a companion. I have had toy poodles in the past and l adore them. I picked up my 8 week old baby. OMG l was overwhelmed and stressed out the whole week. The walls are very thin in apartments. And all she did the whole week was cry for her Mother and siblings. I was so worried the neighbors would complain about her barking and crying. I would walk out to my car and l could hear her howling and crying and barking. I just 😢. It was so unfair to the little princess. So l too returned her with regret but l knew it was for the best. So l decided l would wait until l was in a house before l ever get a dog again. Apartment walls are just to thin. And l want to be a good neighbor.
This is one of the many reasons I keep my puppies until they're 16 weeks old that way when they go to their new homes they are crate trained mostly housebroken started on lease training and basic obedience. You can walk outside with one of my puppies tell them go potty and go poop and they will do it. It is not abnormal for people to not understand the benefits behind my doing this the reasons that I do it and the value that it provides them but when I see things like this it reinforces why I do it. But then again I started as a trainer before I started as a breeder
for first time dog owners, they must be so excited to get a puppy and see how cute they are that they have no idea how much work it's going to be! I know I would be in that boat if I didn't see all these videos myself. a rewarding challenge I'm sure, but if you have full time jobs, especially if you have to go into the office, it must be very tough! keeping them that long is definitely a testament to the breeder. It's sad when I see pups given away at 4 weeks
It’s a lot of work for a Golden Doodle. Mine is a female, Rosie, 33 lbs, 2 years old in June, a hand full, lots of time but with the love she gives back.
Sweetest Sadie! I understand people have change of hearts but having a puppy is huge...be ready for intense feelings from them! Imagine being 8 weeks old and leaving all your siblings, momma, and the only home you've ever known. Those are big feelings we gotta help our lil fur kiddos through!
I don’t like or use crates. I do understand some have to in apartments. We take our 4 everywhere including holidays. We changed how we holiday for them because we have 4 special needs Yorkies that keep us poor but happy. If we need to go for tests or the Doctors. They have a staircase up to our bed and the air conditioner is set to comfortable for them. They do not go outside unless carried but they do spend 30 minutes in the sun on our deck each day with one of us. If we carry them across the road to the beach two will walk on the sand, another only walks a little way, sits and digs her feet in. She thinks a walk means we walk and she is carried. The baby was born with a calcium deficiency. The surgeries on his front legs have cost over $25,000.00 so far of our retirement fund. They said he was done but both legs need another surgery and I will not allow it. The last surgery caused him to lose control of his body temperature and heart rate if he gets excited. I can’t let them hurt him more. When he hurts he limps and he comes to tell me. He knows I will make him feel better. His first year was spent belly on my chest with one or both legs in casts. He thinks that is how he sleeps now and at almost 6.00pm he finds me because the news is about to start and he gets to sleep on my chest for 3 hours. Two of my girls have collapsing tracheas and one is getting to really bad. Our older boy was believed to have a liver shunt. We were sent 3 States away to a specialist surgeon and he told us he couldn’t help. We used to live in that State and I saw our old Vet and asked my husband to stop. The puppy was dying and he was bleeding from his mouth and other places. He wasn’t moving. I asked my husband to take him in and see if they could help. They did their own blood tests and my old Vet had my new Vet and the Specialist Vet on the phone together. She told them they were both wrong about his diagnosis. Then she asked us to trust her, we had nothing else to help him. He has Celiacs Disease and PICA. His favourite snack was yellow kitchen sponges so we threw them all out but for 6 months he had hidden his own supply and he is really good at hiding stuff. He is the healthiest now except for his weight problem. He would eat rocks if we let him and we never see him eat food that belongs to the others. He is one that will walk so he gets walks. All are puppy pad trained inside, my husband spends a good part of his day putting fresh ones down. Where we live anything as small as ours are can be taken by giant pythons or hawks. There are other dangerous things for them but they are the worse ones. There is always eyes on them. They each have their own booster safety seats in our truck. They all understand us when we say we are going out and they sit where they get their harnesses on and wait. My husband and I helped raise 50 children. We are supposed to be retired and relaxing. I am not sure how we ended up with these 4 special one’s but I wouldn’t trade them for anything. They were sold to us at full pedigreed price because the breeders didn’t know there was something wrong with them yet, I did. I couldn’t let someone else buy them and then have them put down. I have had that connection with dogs for as long as I can remember. No one gets put to sleep unless their pain cannot be controlled. They will tell me when, they always have before. Your puppies are beautiful but I don’t want one.
Yes , puppies are a lot of work. The first year and a half is you do the most training. I have always trained my own puppies with the help of my family. I feel that it's very important for each family member to build a relationship and understand how the puppy is learning. I had German shepherds, pit bulls, boxers and poodles.
FaceTime is the typically what we do for long distance puppy families for puppy picking. Although, we do have some families fly in as it’s a really fun day.
Question please: are your dogs Goldendoodles or Labradoodles? I only ask this because your adult dogs look exactly the same in build, height and coat. I lost my beautiful 8 1/2 yr old Chocolate Labradoodle to Leukemia (within 5 weeks of diagnosis!) previously 100 % totally fit when checked by two vets. Like to know your dog's breed . Thanks.
Crate training was pretty tough... I spent about two weeks sleeping on the living room floor beside the crate, with an alarm going off every two hours for potty breaks. But giving up after a week?! Jesus.
So glad you mentioned the point regarding moving crate around to other rooms as we too want to keep it in bedroom for nights, living room for daytime & spare room if we go out leaving pup at home.
Of course is gonna be overwhelming sometimes. They're just babies. Some ppl want to show off a pretty puppy but not all the work, effort and time it takes. I've had 2 puppies at 3wks due to mom not being not being able to take care of them due to health issues. I had to get up multiple times at night to feed, or cause they were crying or what not. One is now almost 5yo and the other 6mos and i can't imagine my life without my furbabies ❤
Thank you so very much for showing all of this and sharing with us! I get my mini-goldendoodle puppy on 04/20/22. Watching everything possible to make sure I’m prepared!
Ahhh, this was a great video. I am new to your channel. How is Sadie doing now? I have worked for a dog trainer and done a lot of work with puppies. I'm glad the people brought her back to you.
Sadie is really cute! I like the positive reinforcement! We have a 7 year old Aussiedoodle. We got her as a puppy (our first dog) were so blessed to find a dog trainer who taught all about positive reinforcement training.
People have to realize, that puppies are little living beings, no different than a little baby. I find it shocking that someone would decide to bring ber back, to me thats like wanting to bring back a baby. Obviously, they were completely unprepared for the challenges of what owning a puppy really is. I guess people watch utube videos of puppies, and that puppies are just cute, cuddly and playful and when you are tired of playing with them, that u can just put the puppy in a corner and bring it back out when they want to play with it again. But, maybe I'm being a little hard on them. PUPPIES ARE ALOT OF WORK, and I guess alot of people don't realize that. It is not all fun and games, it is a serious commitment, but it is very much worth it, every dog I've had has been absolutely priceless
Hey Erin... always a happy moment everytime I saw your videos. I love the way you and your family taking care of those puppies and the moms too. I also love the design of your nursery home its feel so homy and comfy. Much more blessing for you and your family 🤗
I really don't understand people, didn't these people do research as to the training of these puppies and Pottie training?? There are tutorials, books all kinds of literature, NO EXCUSE in my opinion. I'm really sad to see puppies or dogs returned back because the owners think pups and dogs are self taught and they should know where to Pottie from birth!!! How ridiculous and sad for the puppies or dogs especially rescues!!! I'm very happy however that the former owners of Safe returned her to you.......you and your husband seem very dedicated to the health and welfare of these precious balls of fur, thank you both for your love and care of the Moms and puppies. Your both doing a great job!! 💗
Michelle, you are so kind! We try our best to ensure each puppy has an amazing and healthy life, both mentally and physically. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
That’s so disheartening. It’s actually abandonment. Why sign up to raise a puppy then take them back…Anything and anyone have challenges. My first dog was driving me crazy!!! I found a dog trainer and started taking him for walks around the nature trail. That dog ended up being my best friend. He cared for me like no other. He too had been abandoned and placed in a dumpster as a puppy for the trash people to squish. I believe everything happens for a reason. Look for the positive instead of the negative. 🙏🏽
That is so great that the family returned Sadie to you! She is so gorgeous! I LOVE HER! Also, thank you so much for replying to my question about being a breeder. I'm not there yet but I just adore your videos and Sadie! Both of your daughter's are beautiful and sweet too!
We agree. They were a great family to work with. Sadie has the best personality! It’s so fun having a puppy her age around but a lot work too. Thanks for the kind words about our girls. Hope you have a great week!
Awww! I wish we could take her, but I am glad she was returned to the breeder. 🥰 It does take some patience for those who are trying to adopt a puppy. It gets better though 🥰
After 1 week!? Wow. She's much better off without these sorts of people who have such high expectations. Do they expect a 9 week old human to wash and cook for itself? Geez 🙄🤨
Please don't get a puppy until you understand how very difficult it is. They need lots of time and training. Lots of patience especially when they chew something of yours. Do research. This puppy was lucky and wasn't abused. They done the right thing and brought it back
Hello! I just saw this video. I am sorry to hear this but I understand that training and caring for a puppy requires a lot and some people are not ready. I wish that I could have a wonderful dog like this one ( I am sure this puppy has a home by now 😊).
I just don’t understand people. What nine week old puppy would not have anxiety left in a room alone? What nine week old puppy would not have some potty accidents? They are babies that have just left their familiar home and siblings. They have to learn what is expected of them in their new home, and the period of adjustment takes time. Puppies are a lot of work. If you aren’t willing to do put in the time, please don’t get a puppy.
What is this trend about? Dogs in a cage? I have never seen something like that, at least in Spanish homes. Poor animals. I get anxious just thinking about spending an hour inside... Imagine a puppy...
They only gave it a week. I think alot of people lack patience. Whenever my dog would act a fool I would just look at him like "really.this is really happening right now". And let him outside to run it off and get his life together.
The people who returned that puppy, just shouldn't have a dog. My 120 lbs puppy still follows me around and doesn't like to be alone. They are like kids when there little, ya know
Poor mother. So many births. She's going to die young if she continues to be impragnated so these people can sell her puppies. It's sad that this is a business for some people. Imagine impregnating women just to sell their infants, and then doing it all over again and again and again. Please find a new business. Thank you.
I got a Sheepadoodle puppy not from you but here near my city she’s been a handful but the way I see it is she’s my child I can’t return my child to God it’s mine she’s part of my family.
training puppies is hard, we got my rottie at 8 weeks she’s now a little over 12 weeks. those first weeks are really hard and really anxiety inducing but puppies are like babies and take a lot of time. i did one training session with her food at like 9 weeks and she learned how to sit and lay down just from that one session. but we went over those cues over and over and that helped a lot. i think a lot of people expect to get a puppy and just have them be super calm and well behaved like they see older dogs online but it takes time and repetition to get them to that point. if you know you might struggle or not have the time to train a pup maybe consider getting a trainer before you get a pup. at 5 weeks we are sending her to a trainer to live with them for two weeks. my pup is doing really well with everything she sits and waits for her food until i say “okay” same with the door she had to wait until i give her permission to go outside, she goes to the door and looks up at her leash when she has to potty (she still has accidents but not as many) the main thing we are still working on is biting and coming when called but positive reinforcement and one on one time she’s doing really well. that’s all it really takes 💜.
Our Bella went thru a shredding phase around 4-6 months. We didn't get her another bed for a while. Jumping just put your knee up and don't engage in conversation or touching until she relaxes.
I’ve really never understood grates? Genuinely what are they for, my family had 3 dogs growing up and Ive never seen one, and all three dogs are far better behaved than a lot of dogs I’ve met, just don’t see the need what are they for?
Putting her in the crate and still sitting there I wouldn’t think she would bark and go crazy don’t you have to walk away to see how she reacts just a question
We definitely progressed to this also! She ended up being perfectly able to Crate train. But we had to build up to that. Great observation though!! Thanks for watching!
My 9 month old goldendoodle was absolutely entranced by your video whenever it showed the dogs! Doodles are so smart. I understand the family returning their puppy, and I'm sure in their instance it was the right thing to do. Many people get doodles because they look cute but don't look more into their training and grooming requirements. They are hyper, energetic, and headstrong dogs! But once you get past that puppy stage (thankfully i'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!) it is so worth it because you have a goofy, sweet, and extremely loyal best friend. ❤️
were are you situated i would adop sadie and she wouldnt have to be in a crate or park is she looking for a home?i dont belive a dog should be in a crate.
i tried to call you and i pureed my heart and my mind and you you ignored me like i am not existing, you are looking for money not helping us, you i do not care for you or your husband and your dogs
Hey Sam. I’m sorry you feel this way as I did get your voicemail on Friday and just spoke to you briefly over the phone before getting disconnected today. We try our best to leave time on the weekends for family and our kids. I’d be glad to talk with you about your goals for breeding more when you return my call. Hope you have a good rest of the week.
It is definitely hard!
I loved puppy training. My trainer told us that a lot of hard work in year 1 leads to easy street for the rest of your puppy’s life.
Can I borrow your comment. I’m a new breeder and I’d love to put that on my UA-cam channel with the name anonymous of course. Such a true statement!
@@holygoldendoodles sure!
To your point, which is why a lot of people struggle with large breed work dogs(Pyrenees, St. Bernards, Newfies). They are cute on youtube videos but a lot of work in reality. Also, you really need the physical space to accomodate them. Their not stuffed animals!
I’m so happy they bought her back other than taking her somewhere else. Thank you for sharing. You are a good breeder ❤️🌹🙏🦋
Beautiful baby
For such a little thing, she is VERY smart! My guess is the other family didn’t have the time to train her. So glad they brought her back to you. ❤️
So true!
100 percent agree with you!,
4You are just the best people with puppy's great.Tina.
Puppies are babies. More people need to think about the 24 hour care, training and time a puppy requires before getting a pup.
Thanks for your thoughts JC. Raising a puppy is a full time job at times. But the hard work pays off.
I got my first puppy ever on my birthday week 2021. My birthday week was NOT pleasant at all. 0-/10 would not recommend.
This happens more than people expect! Its so worth it though once you get through the hard part! Thanks for sharing!
I have to give the returning family a lot of credit for doing the right thing for the dog....
Completely agree!
I agree too!! I rather for a person to return than to mistreat and harm the puppy
Julie, thanks for sharing. This is so true!
Better to return her than just dump her. We just acquired a black lab puppy because some asshole dumped her.
It is a challenge for many! But one of the best!!!
Clearly I don't know what the situation in the household was. However, a person who's never raised a puppy would probably not have any true idea of just how challenging it could be. To accept that they were in over their heads and return the puppy to the breeder was the best thing for the puppy.
I suppose when people pay hundreds for a dog, expected to be perfect. No dog or puppy is perfect. They all need patience and time to settle in.
They had really kind hearts, just couldn't do it!
Wow, they were never going to cut it as dog owners if one week of separation anxiety issues did them in! Glad they returned her while she's still little and easily rehomed to a more knowledgeable family.
Me too!
Thank you.
ONE WEEK? Sounds like there might have been some anxiety issues inthe family.
@@dukheelee7904 well in nature they would be getting pregnant every heat. As long as mother is properly cared for and retired no later than 6 she’ll be fine and go on to live a happy healthy life for years
I wish more puppies would stay a little longer with their mom, they would learn so much in just a few more weeks.
Mo, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@kathyshipley3385 lol , I like mine needy !!! Mine are needy ! Love it !
@@DoodlesofNC That's very true. Don't you agree as a breeder?
She's so cute I'm glad they bought this beautiful baby back to you instead of an shelter.
Cant agree more Pamela!
They wanted their money back...
If they can handle her for a week, I wouldn’t give them another pup.
Training takes weeks and weeks .
Elizabeth, they returned Sadie to us and we have now rehomed her with another family. Sadie is doing great!
That is amazing! I'd love to see a photo of her!
I am training my Maltese puppy to be a therapy dog because I work in the healthcare ❤
I don't understand how anyone could give back such a clever little cutie.
It was a hard decision for them but the right one.
This was and became overwhelming to them. We are very thankful they reached back out to us.
They had her for a week and returned because it's to much?...They need to adopt a senior...People are lacking of commonsense now days. Of course she's a lot of work (9 weeks old) just a puppy....
Raquel, Thanks for your thoughts. Some assume even after the interview we conduct feel like they are ready. A 9 week old puppy is alot of work!
Agun, this is so true! Thanks for your comment!

I agree. I think a lot of folks have unrealistic expectations!
Jana, you're right. They were overwhelmed and panicked on not knowing what to do. Im glad Sadie came back and she is now with a great family! Thanks for watching!
Erin, we agree!
Janice, you're right. I'm thankful its only happened 3 times in the last 8 years.
I laugh. After losing my 21 year old quiet, smart, beautiful angora cat I decided to get a little toy puddle. Culture shock. We are doing beginners 101 puppy training again because i flunked the first round. My house is her crate and she cries and barks if I leave. But…I’m learning and loving!
As long as you keep it up you'll be successful.
Getting a puppy is like having your first child. It’s a learning process for parents n babies/puppies. We can’t wait to get our new puppy this summer🤗
yay for a summer puppy! potty training is much more tolerable than the cold nights and early mornings!
9 weeks is just to young to be away from her mom
Laurie, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Irritating....That's exactly what a puppy does. duh. They aren't potty trained or crate trained at 8 weeks. Irritated with the "buyers" what idiots
meanwhile I am babying my new shih poo by staying by her side 247 and slowly trying to potty train and crate train her. She's a champ, but she's also an infant just like a human baby. I hate that so many ppl don't know what puppyhood is like :(
Thanks Abby for sharing your thoughts. Training a puppy is alot of work but so rewarding! Good luck with your shih poo!
Routine is key!
I got my lab puppy at 12 weeks and he’s perfect. I think it’s actually better i left him there longer as the owner let him socialise with loads of his other dogs, his brothers and his mother. It depends on the breeder though, they might neglect them for a few weeks if you choose to leave it longer.
Those are good thoughts, Frafor. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@@DoodlesofNC no problem! I heard loads of negative things about getting a puppy later than 12 weeks - like not being able to bond to them and socialise them etc but it’s just completely rubbish. You seem like the perfect pooch breeder
I have a new puppy too and man I almost almost took him back, but a lot of sleepless nights and practicing with him helped so much.
Great job! Keep training , it gets better with time! Thanks for the support!
If the pup was separated from mum at 8 weeks I understand why. I would encourage anyone to not buy from these "breeders".

It is kinder and more beneficial for a puppy to stay with mum for 12 weeks.

That's awesome! Thanks so much for sharing your progression of puppy parenthood. It is a big commitment but sounds like you're become a pro!
Good a person who gets overwhelmed in a week from a puppy should not have an animal. Wonder what they do if have a baby that cries all the time, messy diapers, never sleeps and only gets harder as they get bigger but a puppy gets better
Bunny, I understand how you feel. Sadie is in a great home now and getting loves of love.
Over some thinking, I am glad that the puppy was returned. It's better than a shelter and abusing the dog. The person who returned the dog did the right thing.
I couldn’t agree more. Sadie is doing awesome!
Thats awesome! Thanks for sharing.
I think that makes perfect sense. Good for you to be responsible.
or you can just adopt a dog from a shelter!! theres plenty of quiet dogs there you just have to look for the right one that fits you.
Hello, I live in Canada. Can you recommend a good breeder of pomeranian puppies? Thanks!
I don’t know any, but go with your gut. Someone who is very communicative .
Wow so happy I found you guys! We have two havapoo pups ourselves so we are VERY familiar with doodles!!
We'd love to see a photo! Did you get them from the same litter?
@@DoodlesofNC Yes. Two boys!
Wow, that is amazing GoRogue! Thanks so much for sharing!
I agree roodles!
It’s a lot of work for a Golden Doodle. Mine is a female, Rosie, 33 lbs, 2 years old in June, a hand full, lots of time but with the love she gives back.
The love makes it worth it!
they will fail at being parents and life
I hope not! We think they did the responsible thing.
And now she’s at a perfect home
Thats great Karen. Thanks for sharing!
Yes , puppies are a lot of work. The first year and a half is you do the most training. I have always trained my own puppies with the help of my family. I feel that it's very important for each family member to build a relationship and understand how the puppy is learning. I had German shepherds, pit bulls, boxers and poodles.
Agreed! Thanks for sharing!
How do you do puppy picking for families far away? Do you require them to come or do you set up virtually on that day too?
FaceTime is the typically what we do for long distance puppy families for puppy picking. Although, we do have some families fly in as it’s a really fun day.
Question please: are your dogs Goldendoodles or Labradoodles? I only ask this because your adult dogs look exactly the same in build, height and coat. I lost my beautiful 8 1/2 yr old Chocolate Labradoodle to Leukemia (within 5 weeks of diagnosis!) previously 100 % totally fit when checked by two vets. Like to know your dog's breed . Thanks.
These are goldendoodles, lots of doodle look similar! Even poodles grown out look similar!
And what a gorgeous puppy. 😍

Oh my goodness!! That is amazing you were able to take care of them.
At 9 weeks, there shouldn't be any expectations.
Jisseidy, thanks for sharing your thoughts! We agree.
Thank you so very much for showing all of this and sharing with us! I get my mini-goldendoodle puppy on 04/20/22. Watching everything possible to make sure I’m prepared!
Yay! Welcome to the doodle fam!
I would love to see the puppy picking day.
Bren, this is a great idea for a video. We’ll put on our list to do.
Wow...thats pretty sad they only tried for a week
TC - It was a hard decision for them and Sadie is with a great family now!
Ahhh, this was a great video. I am new to your channel. How is Sadie doing now? I have worked for a dog trainer and done a lot of work with puppies. I'm glad the people brought her back to you.
Sadie is fantastic!!! She’s
Doing so amazing with crate training, and obedience training
Sadie is really cute! I like the positive reinforcement! We have a 7 year old Aussiedoodle. We got her as a puppy (our first dog) were so blessed to find a dog trainer who taught all about positive reinforcement training.
I love aussies!
I want her
I know! Sadie is in a great home now!
Some people mistake pets for neck jewelry, except you don't put pets away in the jewelry box when it suits.
Thanks for sharing.
They are! I appreciate the understanding !
Hey Erin... always a happy moment everytime I saw your videos. I love the way you and your family taking care of those puppies and the moms too. I also love the design of your nursery home its feel so homy and comfy.
Much more blessing for you and your family 🤗
Thank you! We love the nursery’s!
I know it is disheartening! I hopefully people learn their lesson and don’t do it again
Loving your channel… Your A great breeder .
Aww. Thanks Donald. That means a lot to us!
The first week with a new puppy is always challenging. Too bad some family did not come prepared nor take parenthood seriously
Puppy parenthood can be very challenging. Thanks for the comment.
Awww! I wish we could take her, but I am glad she was returned to the breeder. 🥰 It does take some patience for those who are trying to adopt a puppy. It gets better though 🥰
You are so kind! Sadie is doing awesome with here new family!
Just curious, do you have to refund money back when you take back puppies?
Yes. All families who get a puppy from us are able to return a puppy for a refund.
@@DoodlesofNC that's great that you make sure your puppies are in good homes, you don't see too many breeders doing that!
After 1 week!? Wow. She's much better off without these sorts of people who have such high expectations. Do they expect a 9 week old human to wash and cook for itself? Geez 🙄🤨
Sanndaal, thanks for your thoughts. Sadie is with a great family now!
Please don't get a puppy until you understand how very difficult it is. They need lots of time and training. Lots of patience especially when they chew something of yours. Do research. This puppy was lucky and wasn't abused. They done the right thing and brought it back
I agree!
Hello! I just saw this video. I am sorry to hear this but I understand that training and caring for a puppy requires a lot and some people are not ready. I wish that I could have a wonderful dog like this one ( I am sure this puppy has a home by now 😊).
She’s in the perfect home now!!
It does take a lot of work!
Better the family brings the pup back rather than destroy it mentally. Having a puppy is like a new baby. Your child doesn't come out grown.
Completely agree!
What is this trend about? Dogs in a cage? I have never seen something like that, at least in Spanish homes. Poor animals. I get anxious just thinking about spending an hour inside... Imagine a puppy...
Thank you for your thoughts. Crates are definitely not ment to be a punishment. We encourage tons of love .
They only gave it a week. I think alot of people lack patience. Whenever my dog would act a fool I would just look at him like "really.this is really happening right now". And let him outside to run it off and get his life together.
Sounds like a fabulous plan!
The people who returned that puppy, just shouldn't have a dog. My 120 lbs puppy still follows me around and doesn't like to be alone. They are like kids when there little, ya know
Yes I agree. I think it will be a while, or I suggested maybe an older dog!
Poor mother. So many births. She's going to die young if she continues to be impragnated so these people can sell her puppies. It's sad that this is a business for some people. Imagine impregnating women just to sell their infants, and then doing it all over again and again and again. Please find a new business. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I got a Sheepadoodle puppy not from you but here near my city she’s been a handful but the way I see it is she’s my child I can’t return my child to God it’s mine she’s part of my family.
Most people feel this way!
training puppies is hard, we got my rottie at 8 weeks she’s now a little over 12 weeks. those first weeks are really hard and really anxiety inducing but puppies are like babies and take a lot of time. i did one training session with her food at like 9 weeks and she learned how to sit and lay down just from that one session. but we went over those cues over and over and that helped a lot. i think a lot of people expect to get a puppy and just have them be super calm and well behaved like they see older dogs online but it takes time and repetition to get them to that point. if you know you might struggle or not have the time to train a pup maybe consider getting a trainer before you get a pup. at 5 weeks we are sending her to a trainer to live with them for two weeks. my pup is doing really well with everything she sits and waits for her food until i say “okay” same with the door she had to wait until i give her permission to go outside, she goes to the door and looks up at her leash when she has to potty (she still has accidents but not as many) the main thing we are still working on is biting and coming when called but positive reinforcement and one on one time she’s doing really well. that’s all it really takes 💜.
They definitely expect easy! I’m glad you worked on your pup!
Oh my gosh. She’s just a baby. She shouldnt have been left at all at that young age. People should get drivers license for dogs 🙄
That would work!
When a family brings a puppy back do you give them their $$$ back?
Yes - minus the cost of the training and deposit.
People actually return puppies for a crate training issue? Wow that’s so unbelievable to me?
It’s rare but yes .
For such a young pup she's doing extremely well❤
Love the name by the way😁
Sweet family!
my puppy has destroyed 2 beds, chews blankets and jumps like crazy - what can I do?
Our Bella went thru a shredding phase around 4-6 months. We didn't get her another bed for a while. Jumping just put your knee up and don't engage in conversation or touching until she relaxes.
I’ve really never understood grates? Genuinely what are they for, my family had 3 dogs growing up and Ive never seen one, and all three dogs are far better behaved than a lot of dogs I’ve met, just don’t see the need what are they for?
Just to keep them clean and to learn to separate the potty and play/sleep area.
I see how some people need to crate train, but I honestly find it unnatural. Dogs weren't bred for the purpose of being locked up.
I appreciate your thoughts!
My parents call that "having more money than sense". If they didn't want to train a dog, they should have gotten a trained adult.
That would be a great plan for their future.
Putting her in the crate and still sitting there I wouldn’t think she would bark
and go crazy
don’t you have to walk away to see how she reacts just a question
We definitely progressed to this also! She ended up being perfectly able to Crate train. But we had to build up to that. Great observation though!! Thanks for watching!
is she still available? :D is she a mini/medium/ standard Goldendoodle?
She is spoken for now. We’ll be posting a video update on Sadie in the next few days. She’s a medium goldendoodle.
Shout-out to PETA!! Stop the breeders and this puppy Miller
Thanks for sharing
My 9 month old goldendoodle was absolutely entranced by your video whenever it showed the dogs! Doodles are so smart. I understand the family returning their puppy, and I'm sure in their instance it was the right thing to do. Many people get doodles because they look cute but don't look more into their training and grooming requirements. They are hyper, energetic, and headstrong dogs! But once you get past that puppy stage (thankfully i'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!) it is so worth it because you have a goofy, sweet, and extremely loyal best friend. ❤️
Hannah, thanks so much for sharing your story! I completely agree with you!
Do you also give Full refund? Under what conditions?
We did not give a full refund. The only time a full refund is given is if it is a medical concern that is genetic .
"Too overwhelming"? Is there a never let adopt a pet list to put that family on?
I know….
Awwww what a babe my Oliver would love her❤️ he needs a lil friend
Breyona, thanks for your comment. Sadie has been homed with a great family.
When they return a puppy, do you give them their money back? Or how does that work?
We did give them their money back minis the deposit. Thanks for watching!
Waste if time, the crate will only be useful for another 2-3 months. Get her use to behaving in the house.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Elizabeth.
were are you situated i would adop sadie and she wouldnt have to be in a crate or park is she looking for a home?i dont belive a dog should be in a crate.
Michael, thanks for the comment. Sadie has been revoked and is doing great.
i tried to call you and i pureed my heart and my mind and you you ignored me like i am not existing, you are looking for money not helping us, you i do not care for you or your husband and your dogs
