McCartney is playing live with the recording of Lennon made 53 years earlier, still in the same key, still nailing that tricky guitar rhythm, still hitting all the vocal notes and tones perfectly. Just amazing.
2 роки тому+19
The fact that Paul still sings his repertoire in the same key, even with his current voice, is amazing. Guitar rythm is not tricky at all.
@ Well, the original rhythm played by Lennon is kind of tricky, but you can learn it. However, Paul, plays a sloppier version of it. I personally don't agree with singing stuff in the original key being a great idea in this age. In this performance, he still managed to sound good, but that's not true for all of his songs. Songs in lower keys (like Lady Madonna) generally sound better when he sings them these days. Im not even sure if hitting all these high notes is health for his voice. If you compare his vocal performances from 7 years ago with the ones from Billy Joel now, you'll realise that Billies voice sounds stronger and generally better. This is because he transposes almost all of his songs down - since decades. I think, transposing songs down when your voice ages is a really good technique of dealing with a changing voice over the years.
2 роки тому+3
@@aheendwhz1 I know! I meant it's amazing that he's still trying to do the songs in original keys. He pulled it off for decades with great results, but he's stubborn about key changes. I don't think he's ever going to do it. He tried it with that 'Here there and Everywhere' 2016 piano version but it seems like he didn't like it at all.
He's not singing perfectly. There's a frailty in his voice which, given his immense legacy, is quite touching. I love his old man's voice for what it is, it isn't fair to compare. There's absolutely no one to touch Paul’s singing from 1964 to about 1976. Certainly not present day Paul, by any stretch of imagination.

@@RayMusicman9 Paul's 2002 tour was a great period vocally as well. Even into the 2010s he still sounded younger than his real age!
I was in the crowd on this day . Me and my family had come to Glastonbury for the weekend and the Friday before and it was my first music festival of my entire life. We went to see Sir Paul do his concert. I am a huge Beatles fan and was extremely excited and my excitement payed off. After the main concert, we stayed for about a minute before Paul marched around the stage with a Ukrainian flag. He then told us Peter Jackson had isolated John’s vocals from the rooftop concert and they were going to perform with John live again. Me and my whole family were in tears when we heard his voice. It actually sounded like he was really there. This concert was truly something special, and I hope Macca will continue to do live concerts for years to come.
In 45 years I've never had chills from a concert. I never thought I would see John Lennon and Paul perform... modern technology may often be the bane of our existence but it also is miraculous. Amazing. Tears.
@@tf2368 He's moved to respond by a legendary musician playing a legendary music festival. You're moved to respond by a simple UA-cam comment. Who is more easily moved? I love how he turns to face John. It was also very lovely how he said how much he loved him, how you could never say it back in the day and then Paul reminded us to appreciate our loved ones why we still have them. Brilliant stuff.
The "Ive Got a Feeling Take 1" on the Rooftop is my favorite, and one of the greatest live performances of all time. Paul's vocals are unbelievable. John, George, & Ringo are all killing it per usual, and Billy Preston adds so much with his keys. To hear Paul still crushing this song, at 80 nonetheless, is so amazing to me. 53 YEARS LATER
The rooftop version is really amazing, and at 80, well, it's also inspiring, you can just keep going until you drop, doing what you love, important message for everyone.
That they were able to sync up Lennon's vocal track to this performance tells you how rock solid Ringo's drumming was. I mean no lag no rushing, just right on the beat.
I think the clip is from Get Back the new film from Peter Jackson. They used AI and other tech to isolate all the different components of the tracks from mono recordings from the time. So I think it's likely that John's singing has been isolated from the drumming.
Paul still rockin' at 80 years old. I saw him in May of this year at the Oakland Arena. I had never seen him play live, so I had to go this time around. Paul moves around the stage like he's still in his 20s he is amazing. I know people that are younger than him get around with walkers and canes, and very shakey afoot, but Paul steady as a rock throughout the whole 3 hours he was on stage rockin' away...he's amazing, and you got to know that he will continue to rock, as long as he can, because it is so much a part of him...he needs to perform, its in his DNA...and I'm appreciative of that!😁👍🎶
There is a hilarious clip of him on a talk show (maybe the Frost Show?) Sometime in the later 60s where he says "well, it would be pretty sad if I'm prancing around on the stage at FORTY"
I've seen Paul 4 x and Ringo 1 x. I am so very happy. Beatlemania never end. Never. After Bach and Beethoven comes The Beatles as comet on the earth. Happiness for mankind. ❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️
So sad I missed that show - I had an Hawaiian vacation planned for over a year and considered changing the date (at great expense) just to see this at Fenway.....I am jealous
Am I the only one that got goosebumps when John came up on screen and and tears came to my eyes.. It's a reminder of just how damn good they were together
shout out to the sound tech that tempo mapped the rooftop concert so they were all able to play in sync w the video, this is some elite level production
Even you could do that, Zach. Just tap the beat to the original on a midi keyboard, or even record the sound of you tapping or clapping the beat along with the original, and then play it back in their in-ears. Rather shout out to the ones cleaning the toilets after Glastonbury. A lot more deserved, and a lot more complicated;-)
Paul's work ethic at 80 is quite an inspiration. A 3 hour set like that is not just 3 hours on the stage--there were a lot of hours of rehearsals with the band to get some quite complex music (including this one) up to performance standard.
I can’t help but get emotional watching this. I’m the same age now that Paul was when he sang on that rooftop, and I’m a musician because of the Beatles. I even got to play on a rooftop unsanctioned by the authorities (wonder where the boys and I got that idea ?) and I also have some friends that I used to play and sing with that are no longer here with us. I can’t even imagine what Sir Paul was feeling when John popped up on that screen. Thank you Paul, for being my inspiration to become a bass player, a songwriter, and thank you Peter Jackson for giving the world the opportunity to hear these two sing together across time and space. Just stunning.
Can you imagine John actually recovered from the shots back in the day? He makes a full recovery, plays for many more years. Beatles got together one more time before George actually passing away. And now, 20 years later, as casual as he always was, John randomly pops up on stage and sings this tune with his old pal like it hasn't passed a day. Can you imagine?
@@karlkk5191 lol yeah I know. It’s just, John’s death feels so… unfair, you know? Paul and John singing together in the 21st century. Isn't it magical? Isn't it also sad to think what it could be like to have all four Beatles alive today?
This sends chills down my spine. I honestly don't care Paul doesn’t hit some of the notes perfectly. Watching the Peter Jackson films, I was struck by just how much John and Paul seemed to genuinely enjoy playing together on the rooftop. It's so sad to think that within a few months their friendship would completely fall apart. But this does go a long way to making up for it.
My son just came in and said Dad I need to show you something! OK, the reason I am rekindling my interest back to playing more Beatles and "Get Back" is something he and I watched last week. Just like you were there with them, time in history. Dispels myths, opinion and puts you in the mix while they create more iconic songs for "Let It Be". And remember, you get to see their last outdoor concert! And yes, they "did pass the audition"

I've seen clips of this part of his show dozens of times now, even got to see it happen in person on this tour, and it NEVER gets old. So many emotions wrapped up in a single performance: joy to see Lennon and McCartney get as close as they'll ever get to singing live together again; the sobering thought of John not only having now been gone for almost 42 years, but the fact that Paul is now literally twice the age John was at the time he was murdered; amazement to see one at 28 years and the other at 80 years side-by-side.

What the shit are you babbling on about?
You've never been to a Motörhead concert, I imagine...
Hi maradona, how are you doing 😁😁😁😁
Paul turns around and faces the screen because as much as I’m sure he knows the fans will get a kick out of John being on the screen, it’s all for him. This gives him another chance to sing with his first partner and best friend.
McCartney is playing live with the recording of Lennon made 53 years earlier, still in the same key, still nailing that tricky guitar rhythm, still hitting all the vocal notes and tones perfectly. Just amazing.
The emotions watching Paul McCartney duet with John Lennon in my lifetime are indescribable
Absolutely, mate 👍👍👍
Paul can still kick ass even at 80
I was in the crowd on this day .
Good choice for your first festival! :)
They should have gotten some isolated vocals from Paul (back when he was alive) and mixed them in too.

My favorite Beatles song...
"just right on the beat" the bare minimum for a drummer lol.

Hello 🤗 ChiarA, how are you 😄
Amazing
Paul still rockin' at 80 years old. I saw him in May of this year at the Oakland Arena. I had never seen him play live, so I had to go this time around. Paul moves around the stage like he's still in his 20s he is amazing. I know people that are younger than him get around with walkers and canes, and very shakey afoot, but Paul steady as a rock throughout the whole 3 hours he was on stage rockin' away...he's amazing, and you got to know that he will continue to rock, as long as he can, because it is so much a part of him...he needs to perform, its in his DNA...and I'm appreciative of that!😁👍🎶
Can only hope that I’ll be able to catch a show of his… it’s a dream.
Last time he was in town…. Tickets were $2000 just for nosebleeds. Was no way.
I was his concert and totally agree with you!
There is a hilarious clip of him on a talk show (maybe the Frost Show?) Sometime in the later 60s where he says "well, it would be pretty sad if I'm prancing around on the stage at FORTY"
makes you wonder who he sold his soul to
I've seen Paul 4 x and Ringo 1 x. I am so very happy. Beatlemania never end. Never.
After Bach and Beethoven comes The Beatles as comet on the earth. Happiness for mankind.
❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️
Saw him in Boston a couple of weeks ago. He did this number, along with 35 others. 36 songs and almost 3 hours on the stage - all him. Awesome....
No you certainly are not!
...and a few tears.
shout out to the sound tech that tempo mapped the rooftop concert so they were all able to play in sync w the video, this is some elite level production

@@hepphepps8356 hahahahha
Right, matching tempo. lol you are a fool
Just stunning.
if you like paul mccartney you might like my brothers music. his band is called The Doublejumps. they're popular in new zealand
That's a nice picture. Nothing like the power of imagination - John would agree, I guess.😉🤩
