Hi! I just wanted to thank you! I am 52 and got my first guitar at about 13.... When I told my mom I wanted a guitar, she said "I'll get you one if you can play Malaguena"... I got the guitar, and just play basic folk style acoustic. But then I found you. I watched and have been practicing! And finally 2 weeks ago, I sat my mom down and asked her if she remembered the Malaguena story, and she did. And then I said, well watch this... it only took about 40 years, but I finally played Malaguena for my mother. She loved it. It made us both very happy to sort of these musical bookends to this story. Thank you so much!!

    Here is what I did:
Sit down with a 5x6 matrix on a sheet of graph paper, choose one mode or key to study, choose the root position (usually either the open string or the 5th fret) and draw-out all notes for each finger.
Premade charts help some but go in one of my ears and out the other.
Next focus on the next sequence I would play. Think of a C scale that starts on the 3rd fret on the A string. At the G I shift the whole hand up 3 frets
    Hope this helps

Ok, just got my guitar today, listened to this beautiful little song, seemed too hard but after the following along each steps I found out I can play it! Just need to play it more neatly and faster now but that comes with practice. I'm just amazed that something that seems complicated is in fact not at all and a beginner can start with this!

Didn't take long to get this down. I'm playing on an electric guitar so it doesn't quite have that nice nylon string sound. But still. I'm gonna drill this for about an hour before moving on. I'll get it right for a few tries. then I'll play some notes in the wrong order. I would like the thank Keith Richards for inspiring me to learn this.

    Amazing!!!
The sincerity, self-assurance, and calmness in your face, voice, tone and tempo is an unopposed winner. Although, as per me, there hasn't been much on the videography, but the content is what that really matters; and you scored. So this can be said that the Beauty of Quality, as you clearly demonstrated, doesn't always need a Makeup, and can also be found in apparently dim lights.
Good job Amego. Keep it up. You rock.

This is Malaguena by Earnesto Lecuona. He was a famous Cuban composer and pianist. He wrote this in 1955 for piano after visiting Spain. When it came on the radio it charted on Cash Box magazine. In 1961 Carlos Montoya arranged it for flamenco guitar and it has been a must learn guitar piece ever since. Lecuona died in 1963,.A second recording by the American country player Roy Clark. also charted.
