I'm thrilled--you've given me a shot at playing this beautiful tune. I learned short pieces of it years ago...but never thought i'd be able to put it together. You have given me a wonderful gift. Thanks for your generosity

+Kelly Perkins Yeah I like the fact that he uses note names instead of fret numbers. I thank Keith Richards for inspiring me to learn this piece. Before he was able to use his Grand fathers guitar he needed to be tall enough to reach it, and before he was able to play it when ever he wanted he needed to be able to play this piece. He says it is a good piece to play as a finger exercise and I'm getting tired of playing scales.

Thanks james! Your 2 videos have been great. This is the first song i ever began to learn, i completed the first video and found it so intense i had to go away for 3 years to learn other things, now i am back and have fully completed and finally happy with how i can play this song! Much appreciated , ❤️

I believe the 199 comments below, say it all!! I can add, as a beginner, I am sick of plucking strings to practice. I honestly thought I could never play a decent tune. You have done it James. I followed your extremely precise instructions and in an hour, I now feel as though I am going to master the guitar. Hurrah!! I can now play a tune. Fantastic James, I love it - I have to find more of your lessons a.s.a.p. Thanks a million, Mike H.

Great lesson, a little variation that's pretty fun is playing both chords in the fingerstyle part 4 times, switching chords on the 4th time. On the second chord, when you hit the B string, pluck it once as A with your pointer finger held down, then pluck it again hammering on and then off rapidly. After doing that 3 times do the melody transitioning back to the first chord. I probably don't make sense, but Im not as good a teacher as James here.

You are very good at teaching this, easy to follow and you explain every part. It has taken me a couple of days to get used to the finger style, I usually use a pick, but I have it down now and I think I might find a few more of this style. It's rewarding to play and if you play this, I think people are instantly impressed.
I was handed an old Fender FC-10 Classical in neglected condition, putting that nicely here, ha ha. Anyway after a bunch of work, new tuners, straightening the neck, nut and saddle. It was restored to playable condition. What to play? I play blues mostly, so that wouldn't do. I found this and now I have a very nice sounding bit of classical in my repertoire, thank you.

I agree with with jf160297. Not all words sound as they are pronounced. All educated people would know this. Obviously, songboy765 proves otherwise....but I digress. lessonsbyjames are excellent teaching tools for those who want to learn to play wonderful musical pieces, rather than be overly concerned with pronunciation. Play on good people of the world!!!
