This looks like an ideal restaurant, indeed. Located in a beautiful alley, lovely terrace seating in the summertime with some gorgeous views, delicious food, and I can't get over how nice and quiet everything seems if you get there early enough. Pontocho in Kyoto. I'll have to remember this for the future. ❤
Nice planning getting there early - so much more relaxing! Really interesting variety on the fried foods. Everything looked really delicious! That slider (mini burger) looked great and I would have never thought of the deep fried pea purrie. Cool 😎
Oooh I love the video! Interesting looking food and I bet yummylicious. All lot of love and care went into preparing the food as everything looked so cute, neat and scrumptious. My favourite has gotta be other than the deep fried prawn is the deep fried mashed peas!! I've never seen anything like it! Oh btw I love your ring! Finally got to see a close up of it in this video! Thanks for introducing and sharing your kushikatsu dinner with all of us.🤩😍😁😋😋🍤👍👍
Your videos make me feel that there is wonderful community of walkers and riders on UA-cam and I won't have to feel lonely when I am on your channel. Thank you. : )
I'm so excited when you post a new video. It makes me want to visit Japan again. Thank you for your intelligent and exciting exploration of food and life!
What a wonderful place to have an amazing meal! The kushikatsu looked so delicious with the different dipping sauces, and that Camembert cheese with salmon roe in the monaka…..OMGEEE! I have many fond memories of Kyoto from many years ago. I wish I could’ve had such a lovely dinner such as this. Thank you for sharing!
The fried food in particular looked amazing ! It must be so nice to seat here outside during summer with delicious food, what a great dining experience for the price!
I’m so happy to see all your Kyoto content since I’ll be there in a month! Perfect timing from one of my fav UA-cam channels. Thanks and keep up the good work 😊
That custard at the end looked like it had the texture of New York style cheesecake. That must have been delicious! But I wouldn’t have turned down any part of that meal! 😂
What an interesting and delicious looking dinner. The terrace seating overlooking the river is perfect. Satoshi looks likes he's lost some weight and is so slim and fit. Missed seeing you Shinichi. Great to see you guys enjoying some good times in Kyoto. Take care and have a nice weekend 😊
How good does this food look . You picked the perfect balanced meal . Beautifully presented enough to impress your partner and enjoy the evening very nice indeed.
Just once, I hope I get to eat Japanese croquette and a Japanese egg. I've heard Japanese eggs are so flavorful. Tamagokake Gohan is something I long to eat, even though it's a common food in Japan.
Ume and rosemary sounds like exactly my kind of combo... I love how creative this all is... Now I want to try and make pea croquettes... Thanks for the video!
Ohh that looked good! I'd try everything except maybe the shrimp I'm not a big shrimp fan. Have you ever had deep fried oreos ? Snickers ? Or a twinkie? They deep fry those here.
that bird is a heron :) The price is very reasonable. I always thought restaurants in the Ponchoto area were expensive. I was surprised by the first two courses, very Western and so original. Same for the udon, monaka and hamburger. I love kushi katsu but cannot eat much fried foods so I need to be careful. I've only eaten it twice in the same restaurant at haneda airport, though sometimes I would buy some at the deli counter at the supermarket but it's not the same as a restaurant.
Hi 👋🏽 Hello from Indonesia here! I do loooveee you channel a lot! Sometimes I want to make this kind of videos from my experience in Indonesia. But it turns out need more effort than I imagine 🤣 Well, it is still one of my plan ahead. But now, lemme enjoy yours first 😍
“Pontocho is one of the most beautiful alleys in Kyoto.” 1:08 *Satoshi relaxed and happy, looking over the terrace* Yes, he is…Not gonna lie, seeing him like that made me smile and enjoy the video a lot more. I’m glad to see you guys enjoying the fresh air and yummy food!
Idk why, I am not a fan of raw eggs or runny egg yoke on things and I am a little Japanese and like unique Japanese food. I am up to try it though if I ever go to Japan.
I've heard that some Japanese can even feel the subtle differences in rice. There are fans of certain types of rice grown in certain districts in Japan, and like the eggs they too believe there are subtle differences between each rice because the differences in water and land compositions. Ofc it's no different from some Chinese and their different teas according to different areas as well- when they drink tea from different plantation areas in mainland supposedly they can feel the subtle differences. Or French wine grown in certain areas of France, supposedly also there is unique taste that can't be reproduced outside the region. I also saw video about Italian cheese of certain region in Ital with similar uniqueness that can't be reproduced even if someone in Italy use the same cows and raise them outside the region by following the same methods used by the cheese makers in that specific area. It's such an interesting world, isn't it :)?
They apparently usually serve meals this way partially because of health, and partially to avoid as much food waste. Folks there don't eat until they're stuffed full normally. The meals are designed to be completed in one sitting, and to leave you roughly 80 percent full. (Whereas in say America the meals are big, designed to have you feeling totally full and taking home a doggy bag.) Hope that helps!
Lol, these portions sizes for that price... do you guys really think this is worth it? Just because it's Japanese and 'exotic,' doesn't make it anything other than overpriced, fried crap.

How good does this food look . You picked the perfect balanced meal . Beautifully presented enough to impress your partner and enjoy the evening very nice indeed.

Love you two. Beautiful food
Looked amazing really like the look of the egg and flakes with rice, and I must admit that lightly deep fried baby sweetcorn does look very temping
👀😃Always a delicious experience watching your videos-Please STAY SAFE & TAKE CARE wherever your food adventures take you!!!🙏🤙⚡️
That was an awesome meal
Ohh that looked good! I'd try everything except maybe the shrimp I'm not a big shrimp fan. Have you ever had deep fried oreos ? Snickers ? Or a twinkie? They deep fry those here.

That was well worth the price. And how they get such rich dark orange yolks in eggs is feed the chickens dark greens and beet mash. 😉
I treat myself to deep-fried foods and meats every Friday.
I also love the various sauces that are offered.
this all looks SO amazing! does the little slip of paper explain which seasonings the different foods go well with?
Looks like you and your husband had a good time 😊
Yummy food
Everything looked delicious. And you had such a nice view as well. Glad you guys enjoyed you visit to Kyoto.😊
it looks so fancy but so good, and that egg custard looked amazing, was that a real egg yolk? top quality food right there.
damn your videos always make me hungry

Yes, he is…Not gonna lie, seeing him like that made me smile and enjoy the video a lot more. I’m glad to see you guys enjoying the fresh air and yummy food!
Stunning food worthy yummy delicious I miss my favorite dog Justin say hello for me😊🌹
I subscribed the second I saw your channel name
I didnt realize that this channel is a tabieats channel lol been watching a couple of vids from time to time and didnt realize this
There are two kinds of people in this world, my friend: those who love deep fried foods, and those who lie about not loving deep fried foods.
I used to drink a glass of raw eggs before basketball practice in 4 th grade it gave me protein and I needed that
Idk why, I am not a fan of raw eggs or runny egg yoke on things and I am a little Japanese and like unique Japanese food. I am up to try it though if I ever go to Japan.

Who’s screaming in the background and I’d like to try the fried baby corns
I that Agemono?
Mini burger.
What’s a croquet ?
A Croquette is a type of dumpling consisting of a thick binder combined with a filling, which is then breaded and deep-fried.
Idk what happen to his viewership earlier his videos used to get 1M views easily now he can't cross even 50K
Why are the portions so small in Japan?
They apparently usually serve meals this way partially because of health, and partially to avoid as much food waste. Folks there don't eat until they're stuffed full normally. The meals are designed to be completed in one sitting, and to leave you roughly 80 percent full. That’s a lot of strange food combo but I guess everything was good! Ps. You wrote wrong Thats proSciutto not prociutto
Why do you guys not speak in this video? I love the vlog, but a spoken vlog would be even better.
Eww
Lol, these portions sizes for that price... do you guys really think this is worth it? Just because it's Japanese and 'exotic,' doesn't make it anything other than overpriced, fried crap.
What's "worth it" is different to each individual. There's really no need to crap on what they like just because you wouldn't pay to eat it.
there is much more quality in this, than it would be in other countries. And really, Wagyu beef is crap? I would eat it, and pay the price :)
@@ticklemebreathless1394 When did I ever say people can't buy this? So, I'm not allowed to say it looks ass?
