Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them especially the last minute 3am jobbies which you've been doing recently haha. It's encouraged me to get out myself and make videos too so thank you for the motivation x
Thank you my friend 👍 I like the late camps too, but I do like to have a journey there normally in the day light, next week I'm doing a trip so stay tuned 😁
yes they are great bits of kit ;) very handy pockets & if you get a size larger than you need you can wear it over your other jackets if needed. many thanks, peace
I'm a fair weather camper so for me it's always a decent hoody, active wear t shirt and a mountain bike waterproof jacket over the lot for if we get caught out with some rain.
Depends on seasons , summer I try to wear a crag hopper shirt with perhaps a base layer. Autumn winter it's a base layer, midlayer cheap fleece or recently a polyester hoodie😃 but I make sure mid layers have a chest zip pocket , then a buffalo windshirt or waterproof. For work last 4 years ! Been wearing everyday all year round a black snugpak sj3 jacket , a cracking jacket when moving about , not too warm not too cold 👍😃
A great overlook of the kit you're using, many thanks for sharing it with us :) Yes the SJ3 is my favourite jacket alongside the MML3 smock. just the right amount of insulation for most of the year if you're active, I'm wearing my SJ3 right now and most days too. peace
Usually a wicking baselayer and a paramo velez smock when walking in the colder months, when out doing a bit of photography and wildlife watching it’s a baselayer, fleece and down rab gilet or jacket. Spring/autumn is baselayer and technical fleece. Those snugpak smocks look ace 👍🏼
awesome info on your system, many thanks for your input Tim :) yes a fleece is something I'm yet to get since the old one ripped, Snugpak's UK made clothes are great & very well priced for the labour involved, it makes me think how little Chinese workers are paid by the more budget brands.
You videos have come so far, always make sure to watch. Can you do one on what you eat and how you cook? I always take bag meals with me but would love to see what you do. Keep it up swift
No problems dude 😎 thanks, i already have a few videos on stoves but will do another cooking one for you 👍 checkout my old but funny 'what I eat when bicycle touring' video
Similar to you mate, baselayers durable trousers with smocks preferred to jackets.. but have.. SJ3 SJ6 AND torrents. In different colours depending on activity. Bishcraft/scouting or hiking.
Can’t help but think you hadn’t finished talking about the sj12 before you were cut off 🤣.. what size was it and how tall are you? I had a Sasquatch in a medium and I’m 6’1 but I also have a snugpac torrent in an xl. Cheers
Yes I'm not the best on camera so I cut lots out. I'm normally a small in Snugpak UK made clothing, but with the amount of insulation in the sj12 I got a size up 👍
I don't think they do it in mtp yet as the material is quite expensive, as for the jacket it's nice but unlike there other jackets it is made in china & comes in black, olive and blue at the moment. My friend Matt Holland is a Photographer on Instagram who uses it constantly, give him a message for a better option 👍
I picked up 5 pairs and a Bear Grylls Discovery expedition T-Shirt from a charity shop for £30, donated by the man himself. Sold the T-shirt for £105 and kept the trousers.
hi, I'm about 5ft 10 inches tall average build. the SJ3 is a medium size, the SJ6 & SJ9 are large size as the insulation creates a tighter fit. all the best
Hi buddy, madmonkey from Twitter here, sometimes I think some cheap gear can do better or beat up more expensive gear in regards of the black jacket you showed up, my dad has a pair of gaiters that cost him 3 dollars and do the same job than my 70 dollars gaiters
yes the sj9 & mml9 smock have the same insulation, the mml smock has no herringbone stitches on it which makes it more puffy, but still the same pack size ;) I use the mml3 & mml6 for winter camping, th SJ3/SJ9 I use for everything else. peace
hippyswift Thanks for the reply 👍🏻 I brought a new sleeka recently from snugpak which is to hot for spring & autumn would you say that’s equivalent to a 9 ? And I’m thinking of getting a 3 but not sure If to go the sj or the mml ?
@@poppywarner177 the Sleeka jacket range uses the softie 6 filling which is comfort rated down to around -5c, the softie 9 is rated to -10c. if you plan on hiking in the jacket the MML range is best for me personally, many thanks & no worries ;)
Great review buddy just managed to get around to watch, I like the idea of the smock for spring. Do you have a link to it. I've gave you a sub and hit the bell mate, great GAW but don't put me down for a chance. I'll be out the country. Atb, Garry.

Ha ha ha "wherever really just get outside" - that's a winner Luke, love it. Quality.
yeah haha :) thanks dude
I sold my Venture Pile shirt and went the MML6 instead, and man is it an AWESOME smock! Its quickly become my new favorite and " everyday" jacket.
I have the mml3 & mml6 smocks, they are awesome 😁 they are warm when you need them to be and cool when in summer, love it
Good cold weather kit there mate, Those softy jackets look the bomb! Also nice looking pack. Thanks for the opportunity to win a ticket bud!
No worries my friend, I'm very glad to help out :)
Just start to get into bike camping. I enjoy your channel

Nothing like the smell of surplus 😁
there really isn't haha
Smell of all them sweaty old an used sleep bags
As someone once said - Smell of , sweat, fear and death!
I'm digging those smocks. I'm prolly gonna pick one up before the end of summer this year.
They are great smocks, not fully waterproof but I love them for the wicking properties

how does the jacket fit? The UK size fits larger than the European one? in relation to your weight and height what size did you get?
