Charlie Higson along with Paul Whitehouse, wrote and starred in The Fast Show. Also wrote for Harry Enfield. He was also as a decorator early on (Paul too) to supplement their income, and they did up the house Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie were sharing, a house they later bought from them.

Andy Hamilton has written a lot of sitcoms and radio shows. His radio show "Old Harrys game" about the devil is one of my favourites.

In the show Mythbusters they tested the 7 folds. But they were testing, fold in half, rotate 90degrees, fold in half, repete... They used a huge single piece of paper inside an airplane hanger. IIRC they managed 12 (maybe 13) but the last few folds needed a steamroller to help them. haha

I think this is the episode they go into the 4 types of ship debris (because I have vague memories that they did), but essentially the definition is this: flotsam is stuff "lost" off a ship, jetsam is stuff thrown off a ship, lagan is stuff that has sunk but is retrievable and derelict is stuff that has sunk but is not retrievable.

QI later corrected the statement about the Union Jack... Because, from its earliest days, the Admiralty often referred to the flag - however it was used (not just when flown from a 'jackstaff') - as the Union Jack. In 1902 an Admiralty Circular announced that either name could be used officially, at any time. Then in 1908, the question was raised in the UK Parliament, which approved this verdict, stating that 'the Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag'.

Dad's Army, which got mentioned in this episode, is an old British sitcom from the 70s following the 'Home Guard' of a small British village in WW2. The Home Guard being an armed citizen militia made up of volunteers who were ineligble for military service. It's also widly regarded as both of the UK's best sitcoms, and UK produced TV series of all time.
As for the Monarchy, personally I'm all for it. Given the overall lack of power the Crown currently has, they instead act as great diplomats for the country, adding extra tourest income because a palace with actual royals living in it is much more interesting than just an old palace. Of course, there was so much goodwill Elizabeth II had that Charles doesn't have, but it's too early to say for sure how successful he will be in the role.
And there's the obvious issues with Andrew which need to be dealt with.

Charlie Higson created and starred in a series called The Fast Show with Paul Whitehouse and others. He has also written the junior James Bond books. Andy Hamilton is mainly a writer, creating such TV shows as Drop the Dead Donkey (an early 90s office-based comedy set in the new world of 24 hour news). He has also created Chelmsford 123 (based in Roman Britain) and Outnumbered (with Hugh Dennis). You also need to check out his brilliant radio creations, The Million Pound Radio Show (a sketch show from the 80s and 90s which includes the legendary pirate mutiny sketch, probably available to listen to on YT), Old Harry's Game (set in Hell, where he plays the Devil) and Revolting People (set in revolutionary America). I am a big fan of Andy's! A bit of trivia, Andy only has one thumb

Andy Hamilton has a spectacular CV, but he is responsible for one of the best sitcoms ever, 'Outnumbered'. If you haven't seen it, you need to, whether reaction or just for yourself. It is unique and hilarious. It's basically two parents, constantly being defeated by their three kids. A lot of the show was Ad Lib, and the kids were all comedic genius in very different ways. Solid gold .

Andy Hamilton, is a regular on panel shows like QI but is better known for appearing on Have I Got News For You. But I know him best for his radio sitcom Old Harry’s Game where he portrayed Satan, episodes of it were available on UA-cam (might still be). It seems it was uploaded so often that the BBC have made it permanently available on Sounds, their audio app.
Other shows on that service disappear and reappear on an irregular basis, probs something to do with how they’re licensed. Radio is an important part of the British comedy scene, many comics who have shows made often go on to make TV shows based upon them as it’s a relatively affordable proof of concept. Incidentally Rob Brydon was in a Flight of the Conchords radio show set in London, it was recorded in a mockumentary style where he was the narrator. It later got developed into the HBO TV series and transplanted to New York.
In regards to your question towards the end, I’m rather indifferent to the institution in question. Although I think it certainly does need reform, especially in regards to its ongoing relationship with other nations.

One shouldn’t conflate the commonwealth with having the monarch as head of state. Most of the commonwealth doesn’t have the king as the head of state - they’re republics.
As an Aussie, I think we have a similar relationship with the monarchy as Canada. Yet I hope we don’t dispense with it. There are lots of issues it presents but I think we rarely consider the potential issues getting rid of it might bring. One only has to gaze at the US and ponder what having a president might lead to…
I for one would question what the point is exactly of adding yet another partisan position into politics. Having a monarch means at the very least we can be indifferent to the head of state rather than fearful or angry.

A nice chatty episode , there are few guests on QI. that don't do well , Rob was probably basking in being the best known , Andy is very witty and has been on quite a few radio shows as well as HIGNF Y . With the quality of politicians we have at the moment the Monarchy is an important independent figurehead for the UK. and it's probably the worst time for Her Majesty to pass .The new King and the Royal family have a reservoir of public support to draw on in the short term .

Here in Belgium nobody very few support the monarchy, but nobody cares enough to get rid of them. On an intelectual level I'm strongly opposed to the idea of a monarchy, but you can't deny that quite a few countries with a monarchy are doing pretty good (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, the commonwealth countries, Japan). I've wondered if a byproduct of having a monarchy is the fact that you get less massive egomaniacs in politics because they'll never be the top of the chain. Boris Johnson might be the exception that confirms the rule.

If the King's only power is to formally sign your decisions in effect, I think you're still quite on top of the chain. You make nice conversation and bow to him every so often which makes you look humble and would make people like you more. I can't see how that sould hinder any egomaniac.

Not a fan of having to call someone highness or majesty purely because of their lineage. They are the only members of society who are literally above the law. You cannot take civil or criminal proceedings against them. They don't need to pay income tax (although do voluntarily, not sure why should get a choice), Charles didnt have to pay inheritance tax on his the vast amounts of assets avoiding hundreds of millions in tax, while we pay 40% on anything over about 300k. They're a glorified celebrity family who have no real power today, they're useless and should go, an unelected head of state does not belong in a democracy. So no not a fan.
