This album is amazing, I get it guys. It's not what you're used to listening from modern Slipknot, but this is what started it all, the foundation to what we have today. It deserves to be recognized, I personally love it, then again, opinions hah. Has a very Mr. Bungle-esque feeling to it (I know MB was a past influence.) Reply to this comment letting me know why you (do or don't) like it, I'm genuinely interested on any reasons.
R.I.P. Paul "The Pig" Gray (#2)
This is actually my first time hearing it and i like it more than the newer stuff. The self titled album has always been my fav slipknot and the only one i still listen to,, so this is alot more of what i loved about the band and what pretty much blew my mind the first time some kid handed me an old bootleg cassette and said "dude...you have to hear this!"
I love it but I prefer Corey but I'm glad this wasnt Corey cause this was done his way and I dont think Corey could do as good on an album like this besides tattered and torn cause they both did that
I do prefer Anders on tattered and torn tho
Yeah it’s good. I remember it from downloading it off Napster in like 99 or 2000? I think 2000 coz self titled was released everywhere here in 2000 here in Australia. But coming back all these years later I reckon it’s fucking great. I read in an earlier comment about appreciating where slipknot comes from and I totally agree with that. It’s great to hear the origins and foundations. This is fucking awesome. Think about hearing this in the mid 90’s? As a young metal head? Of course it gained traction. And the rest…
But great album listening again after so long. I think it showcases their awesome musicianship even with different members. It’s a different side. Lots of open space parts. Quite musical. And you’re right with the bungle comment also I totally agree
In my personal opinion, this album is infinitely better than everything else in their discography. This is the only Slipknot album I like. I listen to thrash metal and classic heavy metal mostly. I'm not into Slipknot and other modern mainstream metal bands. So I naturally would rather listen to MFKR. It's definitely not thrash metal or traditional heavy metal, but it's far more technical and interesting than all of their later albums.
Damn dude, "confessions" is such a vibe RIP Joey and Paul 🤘
True. I love Confessions. I read through a "Slipknot songs ranked Best to Worst" which included MFKR, and they listed "Confessions" as the very worst song and it made me so sad.
If slipknot had this guy and corey together they would've been even more unstoppable
not so much. i am glad the frontman was replaced by a real one. not ready for prime time on this demo
Not really. They would have probably stayed as a underground band and quickly become irrelevant when the Nu Metal genre started to die out.
Anders and Corey were in the bad together for two shows. Anders was backup vocals/screaming
they did, but the band didn't like it. then it started to diverge way too much from Ander's beliefs and he left
@@renatoimperatori5289 That’s not what happened, Anders simply wanted to be the frontman according to him

I can't put into words how damn good that acoustic guitar intro on Gently is on MFKR. Makes me wish they did something identical just with Corey's vocals instead on Iowa.
James Vinson that’s because it was Donnie Steele who made this intro and for Slipknot to recycle it I’d think they’d have to give him credit. Actually Donnie played lead guitar in this entire album. He left the band right after recording because of religious conflict. It’s a shame I think kit Donnie had stayed with Slipknot they would have had a more melodic edge in some songs instead of just the sledgehammer riffs in too many Slipknot songs, although Jim Root can make some melodic riffs here and there.
As much as I love that part, I don't think it would fit in iowa. That album is way too dark and heavy that it wouldn't work.

Gently sounds SO good.
This is probably my favorite album of all time. It mixes genres such as metal, industrial and even disco in a way that I've never seen somebody else come even close to. The guitars (which most people think suck) actually sound very raw, and fit with this style perfectly. Also, Anders sings deeper than Corey, and screams like the fucking devil, so I definitely prefer him, specially for this album. Anyways, a true masterpiece. Not that the others weren't killer, but I think part of their musicality was suppressed after this. So sad that the two most creative minds of them are gone...

I bring my klave into battle
Shifting into Crinos
I slay Wyrmfoe
Then I step sideways
You (oh)
You (you) (oh)
[Outro: Anders Colsefni & Clown with Paul Gray]
You can't see me, for I hide within the Umbra
You can't see me, for I hide within the Umbra
You can't see me, for I hide within the Umbra
You can't see me, for I hide within the Umbra

@@danielalmeida7382 idk dude, im just copy the lyrics from google
The whole tone of this album compared to self titled is very different. I guess changing from Anders to Corey did make a difference. The hardship and pain Corey went through in the first 20 years of his life did that.
this shit wouldve instantly gotten popular if it was on a label
Anders style kinda reminds me of the singer from pantera sometimes
