Very interesting. Nice to see innovation still happening in the antenna field.
I am new to the Ham world and would like to get a Compactenna! This was really interesting. Good job Eric.
I'm also a New HAM with an IC-7100; Love what I'm seeing and hearing about this antenna. I am concerned about the hot California valley attic temperatures and fully power Duty cycles. I'd be interested in your thought and experience Eric and others.
I’d like to put one of these up against my Larsen 150/450/758. I’m impressed with the Larsen I have. I work for a state agency and utilize all bands.
Thank you, Crypto 19. COMPACtenna patented technology is a USA made product. Model LMR-I is actually cost-competitive with other Land Mobile Radio Commercial antennas such as from Motorola, Laird, etc.
COMPACtenna Ham Radio antenna models are of lower cost.
Eric; For the base station set up, what type of Coax should be used, and how high should it be from the ground?
This antenna looks very interesting. I worry that it could be damaged since it does not flex. Does anyone know if an NMO spring is available? I am thinking of a an NMO version of the "cb" antenna springs...but with NMO on both ends.
Wouldn't mind trying one, but they are very expensive for a new design, plus we do not have NMO mounts easily available in Australia, most antennas have UHF base (SO239).
Wondering how this would perform on the VHF marine band
Hello Patrick. Model LMR-I is designed to include VHF Marine Band coverage 156-157MHz/161-162MHz. It is a high performer paired with the CompacCounterpoise.
How does this differ from other field diversity antennas like Antennex/Laird Phantom series antennas?
Seems to be very very similar.
I like the idea of the redesigned concentrator ideas of the 1970s in this fellows products however I find it extremely disturbing that the motivating factor was to please a bunch of unelected bureaucrats and to help them in their future endeavors against American citizens.
It’s too expensive for an antenna. Lower the price!
Consider purchasing your COMPACtenna soon at their present bargain prices. The country/world has changed. With inflation, consumer price index, and increasing prices on retail products, as well as procurement issues and costs of production, COMPACtenna may well be compelled to increase prices as well.
