- I am totally impressed with this product. It will be on my tower in the near future. If you need big performance in a small size, this setup will get the job done. Originally, the COMPACtenna was designed for mobile applications to battle the issues of the normal "Line Of Sight" environments we encounter on a daily basis. Combine that with this counterpoise, and you have MUCH more than a mag mount in the attic.

I have the tri-band 144/220/440 I use on the mobile and the 144/440 Plus I use as a base antenna. Both work really well. For those who also use GMRS both of my Compactenna's give less than a 1.5 swr on GMRS. Amazing little antenna's!!
That's great news !! This will fixed my worries about going to keep enjoyning the hobbie on my two HOA properties one in Fl. and the other on DR.(Dominican Republic)
Thanks Eric......73"s De KD2VRL, NJ
Thanks for continuing to put out great content.
No, don't throw away the direct TV dish. You can modify it to be a slot antenna. It can definitely be modified to have a slot for 2m and 70cm, and it could probably also have a slot for 1.25m if you space them right (but I've not seen that actually done).
great antenna. this works for portable as well . I remember when you got that tri pod. glad to see it hold up so well . love the antenna ideas . I can see using it on field day on the 50 ft mast Gigaparts has. it is carbon fiber so antenna above it. I could put that on my DX commander 7meter fiberglass pole now. lean into a tree. 73's
You should mount those antennas on the, " Stink Pipe " !
😂🤣😂
This looks interesting. I will look further into it as I live in an apartment and have few antenna location options. Thanks
Always time for a Richard joke! Way to go. Great review. Should have done DStar in addition to USB.
Excellent info and another great video. Very fascinating. Thanks!
Josh, Can you talk about the 705 case? That is awesome! Great videos!
I'm not josh. Please pay attention
I have been curious about this for a while now. I currently had a Hustler 5BTV set up and it works really great. Could I attach one of these on the Hustler just below the 80m coil or would they interfere with each other?
I WOULD LOVE THIS FOR MY MOBILE. AND MY BUDDY WOULD LOVE THIS FOR HIS APARTMENT. THANKS ERIC
Could also try a VHF dipole and if you can't solder just use wire nuts
I looked at the car video that you made for these and only see one problem, if I am area over 110 degrees. I'm in Va and we see 100+ in Aug. I have pulled wire in attics that were 135 easy. Ambient temps in Fla, Tx, NM, ect. on cars will be 110+, I'd hate to see the attics. It does say diminished effects, I'd just be sure to watch where I stick it.
pretty cool, thanks.
Thank you so much for the videos that you put together good work
That’s awesome. 😎
I have been really intrigued with this antenna. Thanks for the review.
How much gain does it have?
Is there as much as a 5/8 wave?
What antenna is mounted on your tower? I can see a long verticle in the background. de WS4K
Cool video!
Could this work on 10 m CB radio band?
He makes one for 11 meter CB band... This is only for VHF 144-148MHz and UHF 430-450MHz
Thank you, Eric for this info. I have the same tripod and will be setting it up identical to your rig for my EmComm rig. Are the links you provided for the exact products? Thank you for your content and patience. BTW, QTH across (almost directly-Gulf Coast) the state from your QTH. Stay safe, my brother! -73 KQ4KIO
Eric I have a Diamond Antenna X510HD do you think this setup will work better? I have it connected to my node for WiresX.
Great question for the future live stream with dr.jack
That satellite contact was pretty good. Ever tried it for an ISS contact?
I heard the ISS really good but I could barely get into it
@@HamRadioConcepts That's great! Been looking for a good vertical for satellite work and the site did mention for satellites too that intrigued me. Thanks for this wonderful review 73.
makes no sense that on a vehicle it has to be at the corner to work with ground plane but centered with base kit. If you know what I mean
Hi Mark.
I understand your question.
In brief, on the vehicle the antenna utilizes ground plane metal counterpoise in various directions from where it is essentially 'centered' on a corner, including the downward side-of-vehicle metal acting analogously to a downward leg of a dipole, and the horizontal roof metal in various azimuth directions.
In the lab I perfected/optimized the CompacCounterpoise to have good SWR & elevation coordinate signal pattern at all VHF & UHF frequencies as per specifications.
What is the radio that you are using? I have not seen that one before. Thank you for your help and time.

A-MAZ-ING!
When is the live stream
In a couple weeks
9700 sucks if you dont have a freq counter or analyzer. You have to set the freq dev in the menus or youll be transmitting off freq
Are there gators in that area?
In Florida, anywhere there is water, there can be gators. In that area of the state, absolutely.
N or NMO?
I meant to say NMO on the antenna base and they make it SO-239 or N on the feed line connection.
Not really impressed. You’re talking vhf/uhf. Talk to me about HF stealth antenna..
Eric just published a video about a new antenna the size of a plastic paint can for 20 and 40 meters from Compactenna. Your wish is Dr. Jack’s command.
